Re: How interested in the PS3 for OS4 are you?

The PS3 makes an ideal entertainment hub for domestic video and music streaming, so forget the idea of the Games console and TV, rather console, monitor, speakers becoming hubs spread throughout the house and used for anything digital (the price is only high at the moment).

Sorry for my ignorance, I am not too informed of these technical details: Is there a possibility to direct the PS3 video output to two devices at the same time?

Is was thinking of this: You want to see movies and play games, but also use the PS3 as a serious business computer.
In this case I'd need to connect it to my television AND to my 19" computer monitor. Is this possible or can the video output be streamed over the air?
When I am programming or using text applications, the television from my living room is not the best choice and makes my eyes bleed.

Is there a possibility to save the theme preferences so that they are stored until I log in for the next time? I'd like to always have klesters-theme, without having to change the setting each time. Thank you!

If Amiga Inc DID release a "mini laptop" similar to the Nokia 770 (as they want to), I think that might convince quite a few people to come back!

Yes and it would open OS4 to new markets! I believe OS4 is ideal for these small devices because it is a small and very responsive OS that doesnt need many resources.
Much better than to run Winblows on a small device, it will only crawl!

Similarly, if ACube DID release a port of OS4 for existing (PPC based) Mac Minis, then that is a HUGE potential market (compared to how many Amigans we have left). And remember that many Mac users are ex Amigans.

If OS4 will be released for Mac Mini, I will immediately buy a used one. They are even relatively cheap because everybody else is only looking for the Intel ones.
Mac Mini simply looks stunning and I would love to have one on my desk that runs OS4.

@Atheist

I agree with the sentiments that you have expressed in your post. What is Hyperion about? The people!
It is the Friedens and the other OS4 developers who have been working hard on Amiga OS during the last years!

So I wish THEM all the best. Maybe Hyperion looses in this lawsuit. But this doesnt mean that the Friedens will go down the drain with them, because they are not employees of Hyperion. I think there is a future even if the Friedens sign a deal and work for Amiga corporation in the future.
It is important that we get everybody working TOGETHER instead AGAINST each other.

@orgin

Some very generous donors there. Very nice. I will donate too when I get paid at the end of this month. I am very broke at the moment.

Welcome to this our nice webforum, StevieB!

Why do your eyes look so evil?

In spite of that, I hope that you are a friendly Amigan.

My favourite Amiga is the Amiga 500. Basically I like everything of it, especially its build quality, reliability and design.
A friend of mine owns an Amiga 1200, but although it has enhanced graphical capabilities, it does not feel as solid as my trusty old Amiga 500.

Another advice would be to write your message in a word processor and leave it either open or save the text before you submit the message. Then you can even run a spellchecker on the text.
Of course this is too much hassle for short messages, but for longer ones it makes sense.

This is a very good suggestion, Jurassicc. Some friends of mine have made very good experience with this since their theological publications are usually sold in smaller batches. They are very happy with the advent of print on demand.
For some of you who have never heard of this, I suggest to read this article that I find on the world wide web.

This thread is a very interesting read and helped me a lot in finding information about the new Amy-Amiga from Troika-company. It is great to have different options for new NG Amiga computers to buy.
Are there some representatives of this company who might read this thread? It might help them at repairing their broken website.
I could not find any information on the Panda-Amiga computer on the Troika website. Does this company host information on this other project somewhere else? Thank you!

To be honest not really.

I have an 800MHz G4 Amiga One and by now would have expected any new Amiga hardware to be in the 1-3 GHz range and not running more slowly than what was recognised only as a developer board to get things going.

There seems to have been little progress and if anything a step backward.

For me, the SAM440-Amiga offers things I have never imagined in my wildest dreams. I cannot envision how fast it must feel to run my current applications on this NG Amiga and browse the world wide web at high-speed.

YES! The SAM440-Amiga is looking awesome from what I have seen in the news items on this website.
I will definately be the first in the queue to buy this hardware. A next generation Amiga is all that I currently dream of.
I applaud all efforts aimed at bringing a new next generation Amiga computer to the market and into the hands of the customers.

Hello pjs, thank you very much for compiling this wealth of information, it is exactly what I was looking for.

I have searched for this information on the world wide web for some time, but a lot of things that I read on webforums were rather confusing.
I reckon from information that ssolie provided to me that the release of the SAM440-Amiga is planned for the first quarter of 2007. Do you have any information about the plans of the other hardware projects? Thank you again!

AmigaOS 4.0 on A1200 BlizzardPPC ready for sale this month?

That would be wonderful news! I don't posess an Amiga 1200 computer myself, but a friend of mine has one including a PowerPC expansion card.
I am sure that he would be the first one to buy the NG Amiga OS. A great possibility for me to test this great-looking operating system!

Re: Browser on Amiga

Ibrowse indeed looks very promising and I hope that the new version of this great browser will be released soon.
The programmers have done an excellent job. I am overly impressed how fast it manages to display pictures using my 68030 processor.

I am a bit disappointed to hear these news about the Amizilla project. Many fellow Amigans have done a good deed and donated for this project. I reckon that over 10000 dollars have been collected!
This money is hardly enough to get some good programmers paid for working on such a project, but it should serve as a sign of good will for these brave fellows who accepted this burdensome and difficult task.
