Last time I tried a few years ago, Scummvm did not run on Classic 4.1 FE. Did anything change?

@jabirulo
Thanks that might be handy. Meanwhile I have sorted the problem out :)

No. The snoop feature only snoops part of the catalog.

I wonder if there is a program that allows you to export the loaded catalog files from memory as files?

Something like sysinspector?

I tried CatEd snoop feature to capture the original english workbench.catalog. I hope this works but when trying to export the captured strings as a cd file it gives me a warning:

Not all strings have a name. Should names be created for these string? (These names can conflict with earlier defined names.)

I hope this created workbench.cd file is the same one as the source.

Without cd files recompiling a catalog only gives you already translated text and nothing more. There are no descriptor files with original English text

Now I need to find how to snoop the following catalogs:

ahi.catalog
AMPlifier.catalog
aweb.catalog
awebcfg.catalog
benchtrash.catalog
deficonsprefs.catalog
genesisprefsra.catalog
genesisra.catalog
iotools.catalog
mounter.catalog
playcd.catalog
rawbinfo.catalog
unarc.catalog

Amidock.catalog
amigaguide.catalog
amigamail.catalog
c.catalog
commodities.catalog
devs.catalog
dos.catalog
EditPad.catalog
find.catalog
hdtoolbox.catalog
installer.catalog
libs.catalog
monitors.catalog
prefs.catalog
prepcard.catalog
rexxc.catalog
system.catalog
text.catalog
utilities.catalog
wbclock.catalog
workbench.catalog

vnc.prefs.catalog
vnc.sys.catalog

having problems snooping c catalog

What did Haage & Partner did with AmigaOS 3.9 codes? Does anyone know?

@walkero

Yes they were given to ATO members but could not contact the ones who did Turkish translations.

There are some errors and computer terminology has advanced much in Turkey since then.

Also some messages are not translated at all (like error messages)

I tried editing the catalog files by hand but without seeing the original english text, it is very inefficient.

I also tried exporting the catalog files as ct files but that just copied Turkish translations as indexes with no English comments. The current state of Turkish catalogs is very depressing.

The catalog files probably are in the CD but there is also Turkish catalog locale update file.

It's funny though they did not provide fonts that support Turkish codeset. So I again fixed old ones and created new Turkish fonts.

Without Turkish fonts you get foreign characters with some characters. (Ğ, ğ, İ, ı, Ş, ş)

I will use the sources to fix and improve the turkish catalogs only. I hope someone contacts me.

Can I ask for the cd files from Haage and Partner? Do they still have the code or did they throw it away?

Need AmigaOS 3.9 catalog cd and ct files

Hi. I would like to fix and update the Turkish locale files of AmigaOS3.9 + Boingbag1 + Boingbag 2 but I do not have access to original cd (catalog descriptor) and ct (catalog translation) files to make the best translation. Can someone help me with this?

I need the cd and ct files to create new Turkish catalog files.

It is not ideal to edit the catalog files directly (using catedit) without access to original strings. I am mostly working blind.

atx power supplies are problematic when you try to run them with Amiga. That is why I have made extensive research before getting myself an ATX psu for my A4000T.

The one I use is this:

https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-SS-520 ... inum-ATX12V/dp/B009VV56TO

This is the best power supply for low ripples on the 12v rail.

How to use Amiga4000T OS3.9 with no startup reboots

What are my options apart from burning a new ROM?

Currently using blizkick to kick 3.9 rom files and more updated rom modules to fastmem.

Is there a product that is still being produced? I can't use amibay at the moment because paypal ceased operations in Turkey.

Smooth moving mouse pointer on Cybergraphics
Just popping in
Just popping in

Smooth moving mouse pointer was something special that was not available on other machines back in the day.

When I finally received my BVisionPPC when it was first released one thing pissed me of. On a PAL Amiga, mouse pointer no longer moved smoothly on rtg screens unless that screen had a vertical frequency of 50hz. This forced me to set all my rtg screens to 50hz since it was one of the small details that made me like Amiga so much.

Later I discovered that I could use the utility "tude" from aminet and use the command "run >NIL: c:tude hertz=hwntsc" to set Amiga ourput to ntsc and have smooth 60hz rtg screens that were easier on the eye.

After my A1200 passed away, I got myselfs an A4000T which also stopped working in around 2002. After more than 10 years, my friend fixed the A4000T and stachu replaced the flash and upgraded my CStormPPC. A4000T is alive again! :)

After setting things up, The first thing that occurred to me is that mouse pointer is always moving smoothly on rtg screens. I realized that it's because of the new RapidRoad USB addon for XSurf100. My Logitech G7 is always smooth as butter regardless of the screen's refresh rate.

On the other hand, Amiga mouse is not. Setting a 100hz screen (the monitor I have is capable of 100hz up to 1280x1024) for all resolutions up to 1280x1024, I was able to achieve "semi-smooth movement" for Amiga mouse. Now there is only a "double" of the pointer when using the Amiga mouse to move it. A similar thing also happens with WinUAE and that's why an option called "100hz black frame insertion" exists. I was wondering if a similar thing could be made for Amiga pointer on 100hz rtg screen so as to remove that "double"

Another thing is that I'm using CybergraphX 56KHZ audio (to be able to listen to mp3s at 44100hz) at the moment since my Toccata is not working properly at the moment. This causes further complications (I will have to finetune the vertical refresh rate of my rtg resolutions to be a multitude of current Lisa refresh rate).

What I wonder is: Is it possible to have mouse on mouse port have different refresh rate without effecting 56khz paula audio? (for example, what if I want to be able to display a ntsc screen while I still want my Amiga mouse on a 100hz rtg screen to behave like it's 50hz?)

Here are the results on my A4000T with CStormPPC and CVisionPPC: (There is a problem with Zorro Slots at the moment. I need to clean them since ZoRRAM is giving me troubles especially under OS3.9 (Using OS3.9, I can't copy stuff to RAM because it reboots the machine after a few seconds. It's random actually. Sometimes it would copy more than 200MBs before rebooting. Once it simply slowed the OS to a crawl).

THANKS TO STACHU FOR MAKING MY CYBERSTORMPPC COME ALIVE AGAIN. I GUESS THIS IS THE RECORD FOR CLASSIC AMIGAS WITHOUT PCI BUSBOARDS. ;)

What is the advantage of using sfs0 over using sfs2?

And what is the version of sfs that only works on ppc?

Actually I'm a bit confused because I haven't yet tried OS4.1 on my real Amiga.

Found the reason. It turns out some files inside Classes drawer were overwritten by older ones from ClassAct. Replaced from Boingbag2 and the problem is fixed.
