Quote: Just to update, this card runs GREAT!! I finally have sound, functional sound that doesn't cut out like the card that was originally shipped with my X5000. Yeah I was out of pocket and extra ~$20, but it was definitely a good purchase as the card shipped with the machine, and the SoundBlaster card I purchased, were hopelessly useless.
Please, if you don't need to go surround sound, and your looking for a card that will work with any of your machines, go with the CS4281 chipset; you will not be disappointed... I continue to have issues with the sound card. I don't know what changed, but my installation broke and I had to reinstall OS4.1 again. The Pine Crystal sound card that I purchased was working flawlessly prior to having to reinstall. But, post reinstallation I have to physically remove the sound card from the machine, startup with no sound card in the unit, then hard shutdown, replace the PCI sound card and when it boots up the sound works. If at any point I reboot again, sound is broken again and the process must be re-performed.

@Hans Quote: I thought we'd solved that one already. Or have you still not figured out how to set Workbench's resolution? The last I remember, I asked you to look at what programs are being started by WBStartup and/or the startup-sequence. Either way, clicking "Save" should save the mode, even if Workbench is unable to switch immediately (due to some program blocking it). I found a solid way to fix the resolution, but even after disabling all applications in the WBStartup, the resolution will not correct once it gets in this broken state. I have had to reinstall each time, and after reinstallation, I install the enhancer pack, then reboot and run AmiUpdate to the most recent version of all OS files that are in use. Reboot one more time, then modify the resolution to my preferred resolution. This is the only point at which I make a modification to the resolution that the machine will keep the setting intact. If at any point I go in to alter the resolution after this setting, the resolution will no longer upscale to my preferred resolution, it gets stuck in a loop of restart Workbench, and will not apply the revision, even though no other tasks besides Workbench are in use. Quote: and had major issues getting a sound card to work. Hell, the sound card my X5000 was shipped with didn't work at all, and the network adapter had to be reinstalled each time I restarted the machine, and if you haven't noticed yet, you have to restart her quite a bit.... I continue to have issues with the sound card. I don't know what changed, but my installation broke and I had to reinstall again. Thank you to everyone who replied; I wasn't really looking for a resolution, I had already found the file version I was looking for on the GitHub source. I just like to document any issues that I encounter and how the issue was resolved so if anyone else in the community encounters the same issue, they can quickly determine how to resolve the specific issue.
I did try the OS4Depot version of the NList.mcc, I couldn't get it to work with the zTools executables, but the most recent compilation found on GitHub does work with all of the executables found in zTools that require the NList.mcc.
Thanks!

I'm was looking for NList.mcc, version 20.138, but it wasn't on Aminet or OS4Depot. I had to reinstall OS4.1 on my X5000 after something screwed up again. I don't know what happened to the zTools installer, but it is missing a mcc update that was necessary to run applications like FastView. I looked everywhere I could think of to try and locate this update, but alas, it is nowhere to be found. Only after visiting GitHub did I locate the installtion of the mcc file that zTools needed. - GitHub Source - Direct Package Version (20.121) LinkI checked the zTools installer, and there are only 3 files as illustrated below in this image, but none of which are the NList.mcc file that I am looking for: I don't know where the file came from last time I installed, as I don't remember downloading it manually, but who knows. I assumed they updated the package to a newer version, assuming that the end user will have the update mcc library. I'm just hoping that this will help someone if they are running into the same issue as I was. Thanks guys!

@Tuxedo Have you tried to sign up for POP3/SMTP access to your account with Yahoo, and using YAM or SimpleMail? I don't use Yahoo mail, so I'm not sure if it is an option, but if you can, I would use IMAP so that everything is synced appropriately. There is a version of SimpleMail with OpenSSL support on OS4Depot as well. I had issues with my email carrier as the SSL format was not supported by the dated code that likely comprises SimpleMail, but it did work to a degree. As for the SSL issues, I'm by no means a guru, but I know my Enhancer Software disc came bundled with the OpenSSL update, but if you don't have the enhancer software, you can download the bundle directly from: OS4 Depot - OpenSSLI can attest, the AmigaOS 4.1 operating system is not completely bug free, and definitively the hardware is far from perfect as well. I have major issues with getting my resolution to set correctly, even with the updated drivers, and had major issues getting a sound card to work. Hell, the sound card my X5000 was shipped with didn't work at all, and the network adapter had to be reinstalled each time I restarted the machine, and if you haven't noticed yet, you have to restart her quite a bit.... I think the powers that be SHOULD NOT RELEASE AN UNTESTED PRODUCT. Surely these hardware issues were known prior to listing the items for sale. It was also advertised that you could upgrade the /20 to a /40, but the microprocessor is soldered to the board. There was literally misinformation on the Amiga on the Lake website regarding the processor would be interchangeable once it was released. They also have the network card that was included with my X5000 as a solution to networking for the AmigaOS 4.1 platform, and the card DOESN'T WORK. These kind of things are going to result in people that purchase the machines never purchasing a future build because they ship with untested hardware; it's possibly frustrating enough to some people to just drop from fanbase. I really wanted the machine, so I shelled out the cash, and I am glad that I purchased it. But for the outlandish price of this system, when I can run MorphOS for around $300 for the hardware and the OS license, I cringe at the fact that anyone would ship these machines with non-functional PCI cards; That's just bad business. Good luck, and sorry for the rant, hope that you can find a solution to your issue, and here's to hoping that you have better luck with your machine that I have had with mine!

I still can't get AmiCygnix to work properly. When I first launch the preferences I get this error: This error pops up after I close the preference editor, just prior to asking me if I want to start the application. Then after I launch, the IDesk Desktop Manager doesn't start due to an inability to find the output display. I was able to capture the output to the console window from the process: Quote: Launching X server (Mode = picasso96wb@1024x768x16, Display = 0) ... @MichaelMerkel Quote: unfortunately it does not work with emotion regarding youtube streams. emotion only says that the "media format is not supported" or smth. the very same link/stream does work with mplayer, though. i'd prefer emotion. I can confirm, the resulting downloads from using YT.rexx work just fine in Emotion player. In regards to playing the stream directly from the hyperlinks via Emotion, I don't think that works due to the link utilizing some redirect to the actual data for the video. I'm guessing Emotion, like the download executable, doesn't understand this kind of reference. But if your aim is to download the video, YT.rexx works great!

@xenic Quote: I have a SoundBlaster Live (MODEL SB0220) that I've used in a SAM440 and an X1000. I bought it used from a company that tears apart old PC's and sells parts. I got it for less than $10. I've seen reports on Amiga forums that SB Live cards with other model numbers may not work. It uses the emu10kx.audio AHI driver which was included in OS4 for my SAM & X1000. They're really cheap on ebay so it may be worth trying one.
EDIT: Please post results if you get a sound card that works. It might be useful info for others who get older OS4 hardware with broken or flawed sound output. I purchased an X5000 and have had nothing but problems out of the included SoundWave 5.1 PCI sound card, which Amiga on the Lake told me they would be shipping a replacement card, that is supposed to work, but I haven't received anything. I read you post to pick up a SB0220, but I can confirm that it is not working with the X5000 on OS 4.1 FE. The sound prefs freeze up when I try to go in and modify the chose sound mode. Not even a desktop boot sound, at least I got that with the included card :P Any tips?It looks hopeless getting the SB0220 to work, I went ahead and, per your instruction, ordered a Pine Crystal CS4281 PCI Sound Card. Gosh, I really hope this one works. Had my X5000 for over a month and a half now and still no audio support. *LAUGH* Amiga on the Lake is still selling the SoundWave 5.1 PCI card that came with my X5000 on their site as a single item intended to be the "most cost-effective solution to transform your AmigaOne into a home theater system improving your music, gaming and movie entertainment quality". This card DOES NOT WORK FOR ME, recommend to not purchase.

Well... I purchased a Creative Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Dolby Digital PCI Sound Card (SB0220) that I was assured on another site would work. Still no sound... how frustrating. I assume there is no extra setup besides sticking the PCI card in the X5000. When I get into the sound prefs and try to change the audio modes, the prefs freeze up and I have to reboot the system. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to buy yet another sound card? What a pain...

Good evening, I've been trying to determine why I can't run any OpenGL based executables. The screenblankers crash my screenblanker pref, and I can't run any demos that use OpenGL. I looked for more GL based libraries, but can't find more. Here is a list of the current Libs that I have that I believe are for OpenGL: mglut.library minigl.library ogles2.library And this is the only SObj that I can find that is related to OpenGL: libQtOpenGL.so Is there some other Libs/SObjs that I need to install (obviously there is)? This is the only other OpenGL library that I can find, but it isn't compiled. OpenGL-GLUIf anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate your help, thanks again guys!
