Re: new AmiUpdate 2.48 (01/17/2021)

@nbache

I just checked and I am showing 2.48 (1/17/21). I don't know why I got the message about having to install it manually, but it looks like everything is ok now.

I double checked and automatic installation is enabled and I have the amiupdate.net server as well as the Hyperion server listed to check for updates.

Thanks for your assistance and thanks to Simon for the update.

Should AmiUpdate handle the update itself or is it a manual install?

I've got a clean install with the hotfix installed and I am getting the message I need to manually install it on a 440Flex.

I spoke with an X5000 user who said that Amiupdate took care of the install on their system.

@salass00 & @redfox

Thank you both for the information.

Other than this small issue with the MUI update, everything is running solid and stable for me.

Thanks very much to everyone involved in all stages of Update #2, it is much appreciated.

Thank you also to all the developers, beta testers and helpful users out there for their continued efforts on behalf of AmigaOS.

I've been monitoring the forums and so far have not seen this issue mentioned anywhere else, so I fear it may be the dreaded "worked ok for me" syndrome that I tend to run into.

I've got a SAM440ep-Flex and did a fresh install. There were no issues during the installation or during update #1 or update #2. After update #2 is complete Amiupdate finds (among a few others) "An update to the MUI5 3rd party contribution classes" which successfully installs. I'm then told that the system needs a soft reboot, which also works without any issues, but then next time I scan with Amiupdate, it finds the same update again.

I've tried it a few times, tried a hard reboot as well, but no luck.

Is anyone else seeing this or has anyone else seen this?

Re: Amiupdate settings?

@Rigo

I've noticed an issue with AmiUpdate on my system.

It appears to run normally, but I spotted the post about changing the server and went in to make the change and noticed something odd.

When I open the Online Update Preferences window the "Store Archives and Updates here" field appears to be a series of non-English characters that keep scrolling by. Clicking the folder icon to try to manually select a folder doesn't do anything.

I can de-select the www.amiupdate.net server, but when I go into the tab to add the new server and click Add nothing happens. The window keeps refreshed and the Updates tab keeps refreshing which appears to be tied to the folder name scrolling issue.

Hopefully I'm properly describing this. Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks for your work on AmiUpdate.

AmigaAMP 3.24 Released
Just popping in
Just popping in

AmigaAMP 3.24 (PPC/OS4.x) and (68k/OS3.9) released
This revision has undergone major internal restructuring to make maintenance easier. I've fixed a lot of small old bugs along the way but I can't guarantee that I haven't introduced new ones. However, extensive beta testing has been done to verify the integrity and stability of this new release. Here's the list of the most important changes:

Completely reworked shoutcast streaming code.
Fixed handling of empty ID3v2 comment fields.
Fixed drawing of skinned equalizer "AUTO" gadget. But it doesn't do anything.
Localized some more strings.
Fixed older OS4 version compatibility.
Fixed buffer overflow in MPEG reading routine.
Fixed redrawing current time display when changing skins.
Fixed background fill in playlist time display for spaces.
Refined ID3v2 tag reading and added ID3v2.2 support.
Fixed updating changed config file.
Changed layout of info window, added more fields.
ESC key now also closes the info and the prefs window.

The 68k version now inofficially supports OS3.1. If you don't have ClassAct installed you can only use it in skinned mode without the file info window. The preferences tool won't work either. Installing ClassAct v3.3 will enable both the 'ReAction' functionality of AmigaAMP itself as well as the preferences tool. Some GUI elements don't work yet in this configuration. I will fix that in a later release.
Have fun!

Thanks to Thomas Wenzel for this update and all the hard work on this terrific piece of software.

This update is available via AmiUpdate. Thanks to Simon Archer for all the hard work on AmiUpdate which is a terrific piece of software as well.

Amiga Users & User Groups
Just popping in
Just popping in

I try to avoid cross posting, but I made an exception to reach as many users as possible.

Occasionally there are posts asking about a user group or other users in a particular area. With the volume of posts these threads usually don't last too long on the front page and fail to gather much momentum. I decided to gather up a few of the more recent posts that I could find and create a thread that can hopefully act as a base for individuals looking for users or groups in their area.

There is an extensive list of user groups on the AmigaOS.net website. If you haven't visited lately, stop by for a look. http://www.amigaos.net/content/12/user-groups

Here are a few threads I was able to locate:

Kentucky - http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... c_id=42417&forum=2#808905

Wisconsin - http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73301

Des Moines, Iowa - http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=73235

San Diego / Orange County - http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71690

If you are a member of a user group that isn't mentioned please post the details of your group. If you're looking for other users in your area please reply as well.

Does anyone know if the update is tied into the MAP somehow? I'm just wondering if there is any hope of seeing the update before the MAP is finally announced.

Have you had any luck making contact with Peter W or sourceforge?

I have mailed the info@-address, but without answer. I tried directly to Peter W now. I'll report any progress.

The best would be to get access to both sourceforge and jamiga.org, so th project atleast can show some signs of activity.

@jaokim

The "info" address on the JAmiga page doesn't appear to be monitored anymore. I also tried it and never received any reply or any type of "mail bounce" message.
