I have also played with multiple interface files and definitions. I have modified my network startup to ignore more files, and rename them *.off and they will not be used. You can do similar for dosdrivers. For me, it's easier than opening several windows and dragging to storage.

I have tried a USB/SATA card, mentioned in a thread on AmigaWorld ( http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... _id=34558&forum=33#638387). Both SATA and USB2 works. I don't leave in in full-time because it seemed to contribute to lock-ups occasionally, and I don't really need it often. I never tried booting from it.

I don't know if Ranger shows it, but if you have the tool pciscan installed, 'pciscan detail' will show the subvendor/ID numbers, which might be the missing detail. Mine shows as:
Device #11: Vendor: 0x1412 (VIA Technologies Inc.) Device: 0x1724 (VT1720/24 [Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio Controller) Class code: 0x040100 RevisionID: 0x01 Interrupt: Line 0x09, Pin 0x01 Subsystem Vendor: 0x1412 Subsystem ID: 0x3631 Resource range #0 (IO) Base address: 0x00802400 Physical address: 0x00802400 Size: 0x00000020 Resource range #1 (IO) Base address: 0x00802480 Physical address: 0x00802480 Size: 0x00000080

Yes, as asked above, are you using Mixer 1.30? Maybe you can also show your envarc:Mixer.prefs file if there is one.
SYS12:[6]> type envarc:Mixer.prefs MIXER1_28 NRCARDS_ 1 BEGINPRP DRVRNAME 7 Revo5.1 5 0 65535 0 -41505 0 -41505 0 -41505 0 40648 ENDPROP_ ENDMIXER_

My card is a Revolution 5.1, and it shows up as vendor 0x1412, device 0x1724, and it just works. The same chip does either 7.1 or 5.1 depending on other hardware on the card.
Tell us about your software installation: do you have Envy24HT.audio in DEVS:AHI, and ENVY24HT in DEVS:AudioModes?

My USB mouse has stopped working with upd4. It is an ergonomic mouse, the Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 (VM3R2-USB). It worked fine before, but now it doesn't complete registration completely and only left/right works but not up/down movement. usb.log excerpt:
| Device found on port 2 of hub "Front Roothub (uhci.usbhcd/1)". | Device at port 2 of hub "Front Roothub (uhci.usbhcd/1)" is low-speed. | Fkt 0x6fd47470 at level 1 | Device on hub port 2 successfully added. | Fkt 0x6fd47470 is {Vendor: 0x1A7C, Product: 0x0068, Class: 00.00} | Fkt 0x6fd47470 initialized | SetProtocol failed E:| Interface binding failed. Error -32
Behavior is the same connected at boot or afterwards, whether connected directly to motherboard ports or through a hub, using USB2 or USB1.1 ports, and same if ehci is disabled. The vendor/product ID is read correctly (0x1A7C/0x68). This is on an A1XE ("fixed") with a NEC USB2 card.
I am trying to register on Hyperion's forums to report this there as well.

Come on, lazy... you aren't trying at all.
SYS:Documentation/Utilities/rawdisk.doc:
* RawDisk reads or writes a given number of cylinders or blocks to or from a * disk, transferring the data to or from a named file. The data is * read or written in raw format, ie the disk filesystem (if any) is * ignored and data is addressed absolutely.

Just go to the downloads area of their site. There are several things, like AmigaOne firmware and OS4 SDK, which you can download without having to register any product or even login. It looks like they only have the most current Mar 2005 version there.

Try deleting/renaming the preference file where the app stores its screenmode setting. Often after OS or hardware updates the screenmode definitions are changed, which renders app preferences obsolete.

Neither this ffplay or the original one I had allow toggling on/off fullscreen with the 'f' key as the docs say it should. The other control keys like 'p'/SPACE, arrows, work ok. Is this the same for others too?

@kas1e Even 1M is way too much for 95% of programs, but still not enough for 1%. And I'm sure the users on classic machines with only 64M total will love booting their WB to see 3M free :)
What would actually be helpful for developers, is for the OS team and library coders to recommend a minimum stack usage per API: if you use bsd sockets then your app needs minimum stack of 38K, if you use minigl then you need at least 72K, whatever. The code which uses the stack is not always known or knowable to the person setting an application stack size, and testing can't always reveal the worst case depth.
Automatic stack enlargement is stil the holy grail, and hopefully AOS can migrate into 64-bit address space to make that happen.

@Swoop
Yes, I'm sure you got it. This happens, for example, when people drag the mixer app into WBStartup, without the images directory also. Probably the easiest solution is to set the IMAGEPATH tooltype in the mixer to point to the image dir, so then no matter where you move the exe the images are found.

OS4.1u2 includes rtl8169.device, which is the only gig-e chip driver I recognize there. I haven't seen user reports on any hardware platform (SAM or not) though.

@Rigo
I admit I have not programmed on the Amiga, but I understand your reply in general. And I agree that the purpose of GR is different than e.g. memguard, and that by the time it launches it is too late for any guarantees.
However, I don't understand how his specific simplistic program that only reads from 0x0 can cause such non-recoverable conditions, whether the read is allowed to happen or not. How is any program ever killable if this example is not? I guess I am also assuming that if he just ignored the GR window and did none of Kill/Reboot/Continue that the rest of the system and applications would keep running just fine. What am I missing here... is it some of the invisible auto-library stuff?

Ok, a day later, and still no registration mail, although the site said it sent one. Is it just me? Can someone else try and see if they get a mail when they register please.

Thanks for trying it. It doesnt always crash for me, but the server always shows the filename as non-ASCII junk chars, and it never uploads. I would guess the messed up name points to corruption, whether it happens to guru every time or not. Will try on 3.29 also.
