Re: A1-XE Kickstart hang-up!

Did you try changing the battery? the old time fix for the A1. I've had that kind of stall when battery was low.

@Holymonkey

Remember to check out Graphics Studio. That was an excellent prog. If remember correctly it did 4096 colours in 640x 480 on an a2000 without a graphics card. I now it at least displayed copper grphics and you may have been able to draw them too. But it's a few years ago and when I put a graphics card in the a2000 the program wouldn't work any more. Got the program free on a cover disk from a magazine.
I may have a copy on cd around here somewhere.

@Ricossa

I see my registered product of OS4.0 but do not see any of the old downloads ( the os4 updates, sdk, uboot updates, etc) and I cannot download os4.0 it's just a text line saying I have os4.0 not a download link. I'm connecting with Safarai on mac mini.

@Rogue

As I've said before on Uboot 1.1.1 Scsi locks up the system when launching kickstart. I never could get a serial dump. And at the moment my A1 is being repaired so I can't give it another try for you.

Re: OWB (1.24/1.3) bugs and feature requests

@Raziel

What I miss most in OWB is Flash and Quicktime and .mov video plugins and the ability to right click a image and select download from a menu, like you can in AW and IBrowse. I only use ibrowse now when I go to sites that have videos or when I need to r-click for downloading images.

@joerg

I find with 1.24 that when signed onto Yahoo groups if I scroll the down then back up the top of the page has been blanked out. Parts come back if i place the mouse pointer over them, but not the whole blanked out section.

@joerg

Version 1.24 still has the problem with Hyperion, but the font spacing problems are gone. haven't tried other trouble sites yet. 1.23 had trouble downloading from sourceforge. 1.24no problem on sourceforge. OWB with the last 2 version has become the browser I startup first. Only use Ibrowse or Aweb if I need features not yet in OWB - like right clicking and downloading an image from a page or saving a page as IFF. Pages are rendered so much nicer in OWB.

@Chris

Tested 1.23 on hyperion's site will not allow log on and top of page split off from bottom.
Like the bookmarks though. Nice they stay open after you choose a site.
Also on amiga-news.de/en will only show 3 items per page and not allow you to select showing mre items.

Ok I got it right this time OWB 1.19. Try this page http://www.mcmunnandyates.com/ click on products and try select s"suppliers and vendors" or "pre-fab packages" you can't do it. You can only select "feature product".

@Raziel
Just tried OWB 1.19. The tool types don't work for setting home page or font size or window size.. Also a message output window opens in back.
That nice proggie OWB Adressbook can't find OWB now.
BIG OOPS. I upacked and installed the wrong version.

@PEB

Problem posting from OWB and using Yahoo Groups. In Yahoo groups If afeter reading messages in a group I click the "my groups" link a down load window appears after I'm returned to the groups menu.
Trying to post to Amigans from owb A download requestor pop up and messages cannot be posted. REquestor also pops up when clicking on "preview"

@PEB

Interesting glich in version 1.16. In Yahoo groups. after reading messages in a group if i click the "my groups" link it returns me to the group listing an da download requestor asking to download file * appears. Happens every time.
Now with downloads I'm going tohave less need to boot up IBrowse or Aweb.

Grim reaper on quiting OWB 1.15 doesn't happen all the time. Had it twice always at exactly same address.
both times I had been using simplemail and owb at same time.

Hello back again. The scsi1007 error seemed to be caused because I was using an adapter to fit the end going to the scaner. Now with that cabel the system booted scanquick tried to use the scaner the scaner respinded but gave the 1007 error.
I replaced that cable with one that does not need an adapter and now with cable attached to scanner the system will not boot blackscreen after loading kickstart. Same as I was originally getting.

@LiveForIt
Tried the other slots still the "scsi error 1007"
looked for scsi error 1007 and came up with this description
"1007
Internal SCSI task processing error -
invalid element type was detected"

Whatever that means.

@LiveForIt

I'll try that. One other thing if I hold down both mouse buttons for early boot menu i can boot with selecting no startup sequence, then load workbench. But of course it uses the vga default not the radeon monitor.I wonder can starup sequence be excuted after booting with no boot sequence?

@Lio

Hello back again. I installed the mustek 800sp scanner and turned on the A1. It got to loading kickstart did that and then the hd light flickered like it does just boefor displaying workbnech and the screen stayed black. I did the cntrl amiga amiga routine and os4 rebooted and loaded and displayed workbench. So it derfinately is a conflict with the 9250 radeon somewhere.
scanquix finds the scanner starts to scan and gives error "scsi error 1007 retry cancel".

I'll try betascan drivers next.

Re: AmigaOne SCSI

@Ferry

OK I set the scsi_pci_override to oooF.
When my zip drive is plugged in to the scsi cable the machine boots all the way and media toolbox sees and can work with the zip drive BUT no icon shows on the desktop even though system sayes the zip drive is mounted.
I have 2 scanners A umax 1200s and an umax 1220s
The 1200s has a broken motor and cann't scan, the 1220s work perfectly on my wife's A2000.
I plug in the Umax 1200s and the system boots. scanquik sees the scanner and tries to use it of course nothing happens since the motor doesn;t work. If I unplug the 1200s and plug in the 1220s the system dies not boot hangs at the black screen after loading kickstart.
I'm going to see if i can get the 1200s fixed and see if it still allows system to boot or locks it up.
wish i could get a serial dump using the a2000 but I just cann't seem to get data when I try.

renoir

Late edit:?was out viisiting a friend and he gave me a mustek 800sp paragon scanner. uses the old fashioned scsi cable, os I'll have toget an adapter to make it fit the scsi card before I try it out. I'll report on that in a couple of days. I have a garden to build this week.

@Mlehto

Sorry about that I meant to type "setenv stdout serial" I had the it right when doing it just typed it wrong when posting here.
I'm starting to think about getting a different graphics card. Which ones are compatible with OS4 and the scsi driver. I like radeons because they're clearer and sharper than the voodoo cards I've tried.
Would be grateful if people posted here which cards they use that are working with the scsis driver.
