Re: Movie Collectors Database
Just popping in
Just popping in

@1mouse

IMDB is bad for lookup, as it has no API and you have to parse the website(s), which change from time to time.

Better would be TMDB for movies, this has an API that can be used freely (if your app is free).

Another possibility would be to use one of the already available media scraping tools.

I, for example, am using Ember Media Manager for managing my media collection (for Emby Server, can be used for Kodi and other too).

You can also add offline (disc based) movies to this, instead of a movie file (*.avi, *.mp4, *.mkv, etc) you have to create a *.disc file.

With this tool you can collect all Information for movie and series from different Websites, also include trailers.

Then you can export a list (AFAIR they can be self defined), maybe it has even an web Interface to access the collection.

Maybe someone could create an Amiga Interface to browse a Kodi compatible collection (or does something like this already exist)?!

@nbache

AFAIR id3 was just a recompile (maybe only calling make).

Give it a try

I think the id3v2 needs the id3lib, that's why I didn't port it, but you need to look for yourself.

Edit: You could also throw the files onto a MicroSD card and then plug the card into the Amiga.

Or the way I prefer: Get a pretty cheap USB OTG Adapter for the phone and use USB sticks or harddisks for transfer.

Well, not thrown away, they are just "somewhere"

Ah, forgotten about that.
Great idea, thanks.
I used the mouse to copy/paste some text in startup sequence to make it work

If you are using Wet, read below and add some delay:

No, I'm not using wet, it's flipclock.

Now I changed startup-sequence back to starting network with run and put synergy into network startup script which made the network work but gave me errors from flipclock and AmiUpdate that there's no active network connection.
So I've put flipclock also into network-startup (but it has to be started with WBRun) and it works as it should, only AMiUpdate stills give's an Ringhio message that there's no internet connection (and I would like to keep AmiUpdate in WBStartup).
I had to remove the self update option on start in AmiUpdate to get rid that error.

So, now I'm back to original startup-sequence, thanks for the hints!

Re: Update 5 installed

@broadblues

I have Synergy Client startup (Shell script in S:), some WB clock that shows weather and AmiUpdate in WBStartup.
All told me on startup that there was no network connection and it didn't restore, I was also unable to open Internet prefs (it simply didn't open).

You're right of course, I should move Synergy startup to Network startup, maybe this caused the whole stack to hang.
But making such changes or deeper tests is pretty hard without input and I only found a spare mouse and no extra keyboard

I hope I will have some time later today when I'm back home at my Amiga to do some tests, I will then move Synergy startup in Network startup and reinsert the run command.

Thanks & Ciao,
Alfred

@Ricossa
This didn't solve my problem.

But removing the "run" in the startup-sequence for excuting Network-Startup helped.
Now network is up and all is running again

I've installed update 5 yesterday on my A1XE and lost network connection on ethernet.
This makes fiddling around pretty hard as I have no mouse/keyboard connected but use Synergy.
So, no network, no input

I have to dig out mouse/keyboard for A1 to be able to look for the error.

Grrr...

Re: is the Silicon Image SATA driver limited to 4 units?

This card uses normal Silicon Image SiI3114 chip and supports only four drives at once.
I think you can set some jumpers to set two ports as eSATA or internal but you will never be able to use all six ports at once.

You may consider usinf eSATA instead of USB for the connection. Would be much faster on Amiga.
You can get SATA -> eSATA connectors slots for nearly nothing on ebay & co.

So, how do I get the SCREEN where the mousepointer is?

I mean, this is AmigaOS, not Windows

Maybe a stupid question, but do I need to know on which screen the mousepointer is?

Or what is "scrn"?

Re: Is 3D difficult to achieve?
Just popping in

@Phantom

I think it depends on the format of the 3D movie.
For example, there's the side-by-side (SBS) format, partly used in broadcasting and popular in 3D-BluRay-Ripping, where you have the left eye in the left half of the video and the right eye in the right side.
This means you have only half x resolution for each eye but AFAIK all or most 3D TVs can show these movies without problems in 3D (I do not know about 3D capable monitors, but maybe not as I think there has to be the clever part in the graphics card).
So, as long as the hardware/software is capable of playing the video it can play 3D.

But I think the actual Amiga hardware doesn't have enough power to play BluRay or even real 3D BluRay movies.
Don't know about the X1000.

@corto

About SDL_image, why not try to build a version with datatypes support for loading?
I've done this for testing on OS3.x and it worked quite well, I think I only left XBM (or what that dull plain format from Unix was) support in.
I only got problems with programs that needed the alpha channel, but I think this is now supported on OS4?!

Once you've watched blu-ray on a suitable TV you won't want to go back to DVD. Simply as, the quality in terms of detail and colour is much better than DVD. Blu-ray players and discs have dropped in price significantly over the last year.

That really depends a lot on the movie, while you get a lot from the enhanced details on a movie full of vfx like "Avatar", I would never pay the extra bucks to have some romco like "The Bounty Hunter" on BluRay.
There's really no need to have that on full hd instead of DVD (which looks already amazing on modern hd hardware), at least if you are not a big Jennifer Aniston fan

However, the save as filetype is needed as for example, a sample editing app could save the sample as IFF, MP3, WAV etc...

Yes that could be usefull.
More general I would say it should be possible to simply define an array with caption and leave it to the programmer to respond to the slected field.
So you could add for example selection in the open requester to open a file read only or the save as type in a save requester.

I'm not sure how, but I think PPaint is using that kind of requester?

2. They need to be more customisable for the developer, ability to add gadgets such as:

a) Save As file type

b) Filter by file type drop-down box as opposed to expecting user to type #?.ext. So in a music application you could filter by .MOD file, MP3, MP4, AIFF etc. In a graphics application you could filter by JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP etc accessible from a drop-down box. If the pro-user wants to filter files traditionally he can enter #?.ext in the filename field.

You are confusing file types and file extensions.
Stupid windows tells you that you would change the file type by just renaming a file, which is of course total BS.
Amiga datatypes can inspect the file itself (any many datatypes do it that way), so that eg a jpeg file will always end as picture, no matter which extension is has.
In ASL you have the posibility to define a hook that can filter the files so that you can show only picture files (identified with datatypes library) in the requester.

AFAIK it has 128MB RAM (not really sure about it).

interrupt is on, and sideband is enabled in UBoot.

This is an A1XE/G4, 800MHz, 512MB RAM (one module).

Maybe it's something with the RAM? Do you have one or two memory modules installed?
