Thanks for this one, is there any site that uses English language and still sells that chip?

I do not know Polish lol, or at least if someone can help me with the order from there...

@amiga_os - Are you from Poland? Can you help a little with this? Thanks!

Re: My Sam440ep seems to be broken gfx/gfxram
Just popping in

Hello folks. Sorry for ressurecting the ancient topic, but I got the very same problem.

It seems that after so many years of stable and faithful working, my Sam 440EP broke.

The board is this: http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=1

I get corrupted image on the screen. Checked with different monitors, cables and dvi to vga adapters, same result.

I wrote to Acube, sending some photos as well. They said that the problem could most likely be the VRAM of the on board M9 Radeon graphics chip. They also spotted the main RAM module but it seems that the M9 chip is the problem.

They also pointed that they do not have replacement chips any more so they probably would not be able to fix the board.

So my first question is:

Does anyone knows the exact details of the M9 chip that is used on Sam 440EP. I am thinking of trying to locate one online. Any recommended places to check?

Second question:

If I would use a PCI graphics card what is the recommended one? On some other topics / forums I read about the Radeon 9250. But there is this sticker on the PCI slot pointing that I should not use 5.5Volts or 5Volts PCI cards on there. So what is the correct voltage number I should go for? I believe 3.3 right? But how I would identify that the card that I would buy carries the correct voltage? Any link / example featuring the right card would be great.

Has anyone run through a similar problem?
How it was solved?

Ps. On another topic I have read that the Acube guys, tried to reflow the chip on nother board with the same prob. That was prior to the chip replacement they did. Reflowing the chip did not fix the problem.

I will wait for your replies.

Thanks

Re: AmigaOne G3 XE Problems (?)
Just popping in

Some quick updates together with a huge thanks to everyone helped. The system now runs 100% stable. Removing the defective usb stack improved stability but what brought the system back to normal for good was the replacing of the old prism2.device that I was ussing on my wireless pci network card, with the standard Amigaoneethernet driver plus an ethernet cable to the ethernet port of the lady :)

I have faced similar crushes on other Amiga systems ussing this old driver, so this was a good food for thought and a chance for some more testing, baving still some crushes while ussing AmiFTP made me relise tht the problem could be also located to somewhere else and not only on the usb stack. I have not however tested the newer prism2.device, will do it soon, lerhaps no crushes in this version.

I will of ourse change the battery just in case and keep you posted.

Thanks again.

The battery is old -4 years- and I am changing it -got to find a new one- but:

Quote:

i had terrible stability issues with my SAM and my peg after update 3 and onwards once USB2 support was added to the system. under heavy CPU loading -- such as browsing using MUIOWB or decoding a high-resolution video -- i would get random freezes.

turns out the issue was the USB stack not getting enough CPU time (or something) and not 'seeing' my USB keyboard/mouse for certain periods. it then deleted the devices from its tree, thinking they had been disconnected when they weren't. others have reported similar problems with USB2 support in conjunction with USB2 PCI cards using the VIA VT6212L chipset.

the bottom line is that i disabled EHCI support in my kicklayout file. this means reverting to USB1.1 speeds, but i got stability back. try editing your SYS:Kickstart/Kicklayout file and commenting out the line 'MODULE Kickstart/ehci.usbhcd' and see if that helps. it sure helped me.

-- eliyahu

Following those steps I managed to have an -almost- stable system again. Still doing some testing but I guess USB stack is the big deal. Keep you posted!

I am using a PS2 keyboard and a usb mouse. The keyboard has a usb connector which I connect ton one usb port of a1 and then I have the mouse connected to a usb input provided on the keyboard. Do you think that this matters?

I got USB PCI card.

No other hardware installed.

And not any extra software launched on startup up -WBStartup or SS-.

Thanks for the post.

AmigaOne Hardware questions
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello folks!

Have done some research about my AmigaOne XE problems descirbed in here: http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum ... php?topic_id=5789&forum=4

So:

I have two simple questions about AmigaOne XE.

1. What are the specs of a RAM memory module suitable for the AmigaOne XE?

2. Is there somewhere a photo of an AmigaOne XE mobo, that shows clearly where the battery is stored?

Thanks

AmigaOne G3 XE Problems (?)
Just popping in
Just popping in

Well it seems that my AmigaOne XE G3 have some problems (?).

The machine will freeze on random time points. Mouse pointer would not move at all. Only reset is possible.

Let me give you some examples:

This would mostly happen when I try to open a video movie file, or listen to an internet radio station via AmigaAMP3, or transfer some files via AmiFTP... In general with more "complex" procedures.

The machine would remain stable doing nothing or just running WookieChat for example.

The machine was quite stable all those years. I was not using it a lot but have not faced similar problems in the past.

I THINK that this strange behavior started after after the install of AmigaOS 4.1.6 update... But I am not sure about that.

Have you got any ideas? Advice?

ps. Well I hardly remember that there were some lines on the kickstart file that should be commented -with an ";"- perhaps with the new kickstart file some changes made to those lines (?) and this is the source of the problem?

ps1: Some more info: I got a Catweasel that works great on Spirantho drivers and a wireless Network card. Both work very stable. Those items are the "Extras" of my machine. In general it is the well known G3 XE with a Radeon gfx and 512MB of RAM.

ps2 I do not mind going back to a previous update if this is the case.

I WILL WAIT FOR YOUR HELP GUYS THANKS!

Re: Broadcast under OS4.1

Just popping in

Well I did some more testing, tunenet works generally good -not perfect- on my sam. However it would stop very often without any reason. Also playing music from a usb stick sometimes would make the system crash, it is a small 440ep I know but I still got high hopes on her.

The strangest part of all is that on my amigaone xe g3, the system would freeze right after the broadcast selection. I still can not understand why this is happening. Both ladies got the 4.1.6 update.

I wonder is there any other player with broadcast facilities on 4.1?

Thanks! Is there a way to have TuneNet to repeat my playlist forever? I think it repeats it one time only and then it stops, but I am not sure I got to double check!

Thanks for the fast reply! Renaming the .sampler to .xml will bring back a very basic dock. Shame I have not kept a bakc up of this file. Is there a generic own somewhere including the 4.1.6 apps and icons? -Perhaps on the install CD- I can not check right now cause I got the CD on my other house, but will do soon.

AmiDock very strange problem.

Just popping in

Hello folks.

I do not know how this happend but I suddenly lost ALL THE CONTENTS and Icons of my AmiDock bar on AmigaOS 4.1.6 @ my AmigaOne XE.

Perhaps I have to change my hard disk, as I keep on getting some erros on my System Partition that gets away when I run the repair Partition command from the AmigaOS Bootable CD and the PartitionWizzard. Anyway...

Perhaps one of the AmiDock files that keeps the prefs about the icons and the apps in there is corrupted. Which file is it? Is there any general backup that I cna sue to bring up the basic stuff on the Amidock? I cna add the rets of the apps in hand.

The AmiDock now appers on the lower left corner of the screen as a little box, with NO icons at all.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot to everyone who helped, before actually launching my own selocast server on the Amiga, I made a last test ussing tunenet and the server I was trying to ceonnect to, I just changed the port number to port number + 1 and it worked.

I read this on the first aw.net topic that kicko posted... Thanks mate. -hint: I was the same person who opened the second aw.net topic- plus I had the Selcocast author suggesting to use port number+1. So now my Samantha broadcasts ussing tunetnet from hard disk and usb stick, still on test mode but you can check: http://rockingplanet.blogspot.gr

Broadcast under OS4.1

Hello folks!

Is there any software available to use in order to brodcast my own music on a SHOUTCAST server?

I naver made TuneNet to work although I have tried different servers ussing the MP3 encoder.

I always get the message Unable to connect.

I can stream in the same server ussing MacOSX, or Windows, so it is not a server problem.

Any ideas?
