Re: OS4.1FE on to SSD

@aclogic
Not any more. After the first two installs coldboot gave me the message that there was no botable partition, but then even that message disappeared.
I will not be doing any more with the machine for the next three weeks as I am having to work overseas. After that I may just scrap the SSD and use HDD even if it is as slow and noisy as the floppy on my 1200

@aclogic

If you make an coldstart with the Install-CD, then the system boot's from the CD and loads the kickstartmodules (you can see the progressindicator from the SLB) and boots into AmigaOS??
Correct. Everything works perfectly from the CD.

If you make a coldstart without the Install-CD, then system don't loads the kickstart modules (you can't see the progressindicator from the SLB) and you get that message that there is no bootable partition ??
I don't even get the message about no bootable partition any more. Apart from the quiet hum from the PSU the machine appears to be dead.

I switch on, the blue light on the motherboard goes off, and nothing else happens. Nothing on the serial port.

Once the install has finished I restart the system without the CD and I get a message that there is no bootable partition. If I start again by booting from the CD to load workbench I see DH0: in its entirety with everything apparently correctly installed.
I do the install on the SSD in exactly the same way, and with the same settings as I use on an old Maxstor HDD I rescued from a Windows XP PC.

Partition DH0: is bootable
Partition is SFS
SLB installed as far as I can see
Drive is connected using the same leads as used for the HDD "borrowed" from an old PC that successfully installed while checking.

OS4.1FE on to SSD

I just bought a new SSD for my Sam440,as a replacement for the original hard drive and am trying to install 4.1FE on to it. For some reason I can't get it to boot to the SSD after installing from the CD. It installs perfectly on to HD drives, so what am I doing wrong?

Also works with Fuji finepix cameras using lead or card viewer.
Pictures and video transferred from Nokia phone but only the pictures worked. There may be a viewer, or a datatype available for video, but I didn't bother looking as I only used the phone for video at work, and the Sam is my "relax and have fun" machine.

My first Amiga: A500 (1.3)
My most expanded Amiga: A1200(Extra RAM and battery backed Clock), I'm not very adventurous.
My current machine: Sam 440
My Favourite: My next one, whatever it is.

Here's to the future.

@Rigo
Good idea Simon

I only just bought a SAM440 so funds are a bit short at the moment, but if I save up really hard I will be able to afford a Susan this time next year.

@ All

Cracked It !
The two ends of the wireless connection were allocating different IP addresses
I bypassed DCHP on the ethernet setup and on the WG602 and set them to
10.0.0.8 and set the modem to the same.
This reply is being sent from the Amiga using OWB

Thanks to everybody for the hints and guidance

@All
While I was setting the WG602 up on my WinXP machine for the umpteenth time it suddenly woke up and connected me. I have now connected the access point to the new toy and just need help to get the Sams Ethernet ports configured to work the WG602.

@amije
Although the Netgear wireless access point is advertised as having client mode I have not been able to set it up to work.
I even phoned the Netgear helpline which turned out to be a total waste of time effort and money. I am currently running 2 computers, one for interweb access and one for fun.

@all

I ordered myself a Netgear wireless access point from Amazon. It probably isn't the cheapest solution but it uses WPA encryption so it should work with my network at home. When it arrives I should be able to report success from my new toy.
Here's looking forward to some fun!

Wireless internet on SAM
Just popping in
Just popping in

I have just bought a new toy and want to get full use out of it, however "She Who Must be Obeyed" will not allow bits of wire trailing around the house. All internet access has to be via the wireless connection. I normally use my XP desktop with a Belkin USB but I want to retire the Windows setup. Is there a driver out there for the belkin on OS4 or a wireless card that can be fitted to the SAM?
Any help or advice gratefully accepted.

Problems solved
Thanks to all for your help

@magic

Just a quick HELLO and a breif introduction.

When the kids broke the keyboard on my 1200 in '96 I took the hard drive out to fit in a new 1200. I never quite got around to it, and I don't think I ever will as I have just ordered a new SAM440 from Amigakit.

Having seen Simons demo of 4.1.1 at ANT last December I am looking forward to having a little fun.
