Re: New stuff from the French guys

What's been very impressive for me was the Nova demo "live".
It's been much more interesting than the youtube sample as we could have explanations, comments and changes of point of view to show details of the rendering, as the light shines on the edges and the lighting from the mouse.
Crisot explained that could be obtained without shaders but with a lot of work and no promise of a nice result.

And the rendering is faultless, no glitch, no lag, smooth. That looks perfectly serious.

This project deserves some Opengl/ES 2.0 training investment from my part as it will bring much recent 3D capabilities to OS4 and this knowledge will be reusable in "real life" (I mean smartphone and tablet software development).

Thanks to A-Eon and Hans to deliver this great step forward.
(My HD7970 does agree)

Yes, and the system in the video has a very large number of icons left out on the desktop. Two full columns!

Well, one column of disk drives, reminiscence of my beta multiboot setup, and one column of iconified apps as we were on a coding session (CodeBench, SdkBrowser, AutodocViewer, Owb, Yam, Filer(s), shells, Notepad and maybe a few Pdfs.
Kind of a real life context for me.

I've made some tests with less icons and it didn't reveal a real difference in my case (X1000/HD6950/OS4.1u6/RadeonHD2.4).

I guess FE and new CANDI will bring a great Christmas surprise...

I think SysMon is the kind of tools of great help for advanced users. Being able to release locked resources in case of development testing is a must have.
I can't imagine a casual user doing more that just watching displayed values. If he clicks on whatever button and doesn't pay attention to warnings, don't you think he's looking for troubles ?
so, no censorship please.

Re: Codebench - where to download?

Hi.

I'm back to the Amiga platform for a few monthes (coudn't resist to the Sam/OS4.1 couple) and I've been looking for an effective development tool (I work with Delphi for my firm).
I bought Cubic IDE but didn't get very excited about it.
Then I gave a try to CodeBench during the Alchimie show and I've been greatly satisfied with its promises.

But, the problem is that it is not usable at the time being for me. The clipboard and foreign keyboard bugs are making the editor useless and I have to use Notepad as Corto does.

Having to wait for the next OS update (beginning of next year) is a real pain in the ... neck.

I know everybody here keep begging you for an update or a fix but it's so frustating to have to just sit and wait for the OS update without any other solution.

Elwood told me I can't be too demanding to someone developping a nice tool during its free time and spreading it freely for the moment being.
Well, my need is to have an effective tool and I want to do whatever is necessary to get it, be it buying a licence or anything else.

People here are in need of Codebench, so don't hesitate to ask anything which could help your project, be it money, testing, coding or whatever.

You're doing a great job and I want to help you in any way I can.

Please, help me getting rid of Notepad. ;)
