I don't want to go offtopic but maybe if an OS4 crosscompiler for MOS was available more software could be ported.

So it can be ported ... VBCC allows right now to compile from any supported platform to any other supported platform... (and MOS as OS4 are supported platforms)

You can easily wrap the TD64 functions to native NSD64, by setting up a fake device, you can easily do that on a one to one bases.

Couldn't it be generic ? Let's say we have this generic handler named TD64CompatibilityHandler then you instanciate this handler by giving it :
- the device to make compatible ex a1ide.device,
- the fake compatible device ex: a1ideTD64.device,

Then this generic handler will add to the system the new device (here a1ideTD64.device) and will redirect (after some wrapping) to a1ide.device. Just an idea...

What is strange OTOH is that people (Haymiga) told us that he made it work via usb whereas he's unable to do it via ide !?!
Would be interesting to know why... Is USB device implementation TD64 compatible ?

This icon problem worth being mentionned to Andy because creating a correct system default icon is almost equally simple to code than creating a fixed one

I don't know for other, but personnaly I'm copying the contents of the readme in the appropriate field at upload time.
I guess that if uploader did not bother to write a description neither did he to write a readme inside the archive...

About the archive content however I agree : would be usefull.

@Haymiga

Thank you did not work either. However strange that you can use it via usb !?!

@kvasir

Thank you for your answer, however as I said I don't have any PC so Samba is not a solution.

@hayamiga

On aminet there is no more pre 0.6 version, I got to Author's website and found a 0.2 version that did not work either with the same error
We agree we are speaking about A1/OS4 and NTFS ?
If yes can you send me your version and mount file to see if it works for me ?

Thank you for all your answers.

- Yes the HD is NTFS,
- I want to be able to *read* back the data on it,
- connecting via USB won't work because CrossDos only support FAT

So seems this NTFileSystem 68k does not even work under OS3 so there is no chance I can make it works under OS4... Too bad would be really cool to have the ability to at last read those partitions

Did someone managed to use the 68k versions of the NTFSFIlesystem and FATFleSystem from Aminet on AmigaOS4 ?

All I get is an error message then a reaper

If it's impossible, how can I read back datas from a PC HD (no hooking it to a PC is not an option : I don't have any PC, I borrow this HD at my work since it was my old HD that was lying under dust, but still contains many data I would like to get back...) ?

That's strange : not earlier than this week-end I updated the FTPMount guide with CubicIDE and experienced no problem at all !!
Can you see what is the difference between the working file and the other ?
In CubicIDE you can validate the guide : what is the result of this validation ?
If CubicIDE produces bad guide files I think you should try to get in contact with the author (Dietmar Eilert, see contact infos at http://www.developers.2go.cc/contact.html)
If you want you can email me the file to see if I can produce the same error with my CubicIDE setup.

EDIT: typo
EDIT2: on OS4 to see graphically what are the differences between the two files you can use AMUIDiff, see http://abalaban.free.fr/index_amiga_projets.html (just some auto-promotion

Also you can use CheckGuide or GuideCheck depends if you have access to official DevCD 2.1 or not to check the consistency of your guide file.
Then I can advise you to use the (very) good CubicIDE that also provides an AmigaGuide Mode (including guide validation)...

profile updated !

I must confess i didn't realized until now that's "so long" I got my A1 and I am a bit ashamed that since this time my good old 1200 is lying -taking dust in some obscure place - unused for so much time (especially since I bought my home because now it's even completely unconnected)...

But the part about Rx command worth investigating : that was what caused problem to me with Yam to read html emails using HTMLRead plugin.

@Paul

IIRC correctly YAM recently changed the way it handles parameters this may be the problem you have.
Also I don't know if you are aware of that, but the Rx command (used to interpret Arexx scripts) that came with Upd4 was a bit broken and you had to reinstall the one from Upd3 in order to retreive a fully working Rx command.

Hope that helps...

@Andy

BTW very good job, thank you

I also second the AfxGroup question : when a new version will be released many things were fixed since the latest official release ?
