OS4 final gfx printing crash a1parallel.device !
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hello I've tried to print from AWeb using my printer that previously worked on pre4 and under OS4 final after a short while the printer start blinking to indicate reception of some data I get a grim reaper pointing "a1parallel.device" has crashed. Printing from Notepad works like a charm.

Has this issue already been discuted/resolved elsewhere or should I post a Grim reaper log ?

@Amigo1

How do you play this file : using the standard OS4 datatypes I can't play it via Multiview, I get a "unknown compression" message... If you installed another datatype may be you should try to contact its author ?

if you have an icon belonging to a drawer but the actual drawer is missing you cannot use this icon as a drag/drop source using with rawbinfo.

In fact that always had been the case, and not only for Drawer, but for any kind of icon and it's not specific to RAWBinfo : CopyIcon behave the same. It seems that when you have an icon with no corresponding file (or drawer/trashcan/etc.) those tools are unable to access the icon...

@spotUP

In RAWBinfo using English locale, "Projet/Delete Icon" and "Icon Image/Default" both have A+D shortcut, thus can't use "Icon Image/Default" anymore via keyboard only.

@BillE

Thank you for your answer, the problem is not the hot spot position, it seems to be good, but rather the form of the pointer itself that gives me a stange feeling because of not being rotated to the same angle or something like that I imagine, thus giving me this sensation. But I'm pretty sure this not objective at all, only i was used to my previous pointer form... May be someone we drawing talent can make a nice 32bit pointer reproducing the traditionnal pointer form but a bit bigger ?

OS4 Final mouse pointer size
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I finally did the installation of OS4 Final on my default boot partition last evening, one thing that annoy me compared to my previous install : the mouse pointer size which is way too small on my 1200x1024 resolution, I tried the 32bits Mousepointer from OS4Depot but I can't make myself to this pointer...
So here is my question it seems to me there was an option somewhere (Picasso96?) that enable the mouse pointer to be bigger (that should be how I managed to have such a big pointer under pre4) but I can't remember which. Can someone help me ?

PS: the 32bits pointer is a good idea but either the OS4Depot one has something strange, either this me being accomodated to the default one but I have the impression to not click on the right place. It's a strange feeling I can't really explain which give the impression to not be as accurate with this pointer than with the one I had under pre4

@Spirantho

Keep faith and the development going because if...No *when* you manage to make it work, suddenly you had reopened the multimedia way for the Amiga : PVR, video processing etc.

Re: PNG icons in OS4

@mattkille

yes please, no PNG icons, Amiga Icons are way better because they provides alternative images to show the selected state which isn't the case of PNG icons...
A native format supporting alpha and 32bits would replace all those PNG thingie.

...And the scalable possibility is the cherry on the cake

Re: What's the Next "Big Thing(s)"?

@rachy

I think a minimal multiuser environnment can be acheive easily and may benefit AOS. The way MutiUSerFileSystem (MuFS) implemented this years ago was enough security wise for me and permitted myself to construct custom env for my brothers (i.e. personalized ENVARC: via small Shell scripts and a bunch of assigns).
Even an updated MuFS to work with the latest FFS/FFS2 would be enough for me, thus allowing those who want to have some security/customization to have it.

Another thing I'd like to have : a decent VNC server or even better something like this vnc server running on AOS4 would make my day : I would then be able to use my A1 even when my girlfriend is using it... This was a great idea, too bad it wasn't updated for a while...

@Salass00

but maybe this is also DOpus that limits itself to display file size to 2GB ? Don't know I don't have such big files at hand, nor I have a known supporting Filesystem (SFS2 for example) to test DOpus display...

Someone with the SFS2, a >2GB file and able to test which size DOpus reports ??

Did you remove all plugins ? IIRC Beans told the plugins need an update to work with this new version...

@haymigga

I did not say I wasn't believing you, because I do believe you. Just I was finding it quite strange, but joerg stated what I was guessing from the begining : the USB device was supporting both NSD and TD64... At least until update 4 (means, you'll have to use the Salass00's patch with the next OS4 version...)

@Salass00

I've been using it for more than 1hour and a half yesterday to listen to MP3's to have a frequent read access and I did not experienced a single quirk Well done !

No way it could write because its author did not write the corresponding code !

However I find quite strange it's working using USB without any patch.

When I'm at home I only use AWeb to log here and any other site and never had any problem (be it Amiga site or not). I guess this is a configuration problem, check your cookie configuration, especially the one about the RFC which I don't remember the number... As I'm at work right now I can't tell you exactly but it seems to me it's in the security area in the network configuration.

I'm not near my A1, but IIRC the third number is not for an hypothetical 3rd dimensions except if you consider the resolution as the third dimension (which is a valid statement as well). So Third numbers are to specify which resolution you want to support... Again it's IIRC.
