@delta I think only two games from his list have single player (RTCW, STV:EF), and the latter isn't open source.

I haven't even got my machine yet, and two games are off my list already This leaves me with ET: Legacy, and OpenJK, once they have a stable release.

This is just like television, only you can see much further.

@gregthecanuck I presume the developers of the RadeonHD driver will provide a minigl.library compatible OpenGL interface too, to be backward compatible with the existing software. It shouldn't be a big issue once they have Gallium3D/Mesa ported, because MiniGL is just a subset of OpenGL 1.4.
@tlosm You posted the same link twice, I'd be interested in the comparison.

@Kicko My ports are mostly games, because that's what I'm interested in the most, but I have non-game projects too, like the AROS port of DOpus5.

@utri007 Quote: Never buy fastest possible machine to sw developer ;) That would be one reason why Sam Flex could be better than Pegasos II or suggested X1000 Contrary to popular belief, buying the slowest possible machine for the developer doesn't necessarily result in faster programs.. especially in the case of ports. I'm near sighted, but I can still read fps counters

@smf I don't really need an X1000, and I'd feel like I ripped people off if I was asking for such and expensive machine just to do some port @kas1e That was fast! Don't forget to mention AOS4 in the ad, since most Pegasos' come only with a MOS reg. Otherwise you would have to subtract ~130 EUR form the offered money, or whatever an AOS4 copy costs.

@netrot Thanks for the offer, but I need something with a G4 CPU.

@tlosm If the Pega2 is cheaper, then obviously it's a better choice. I'm basically fine with anything with a G4 CPU.

@kas1e I think the Pega2 has the best cost/performance ratio among the machines which AOS4 supports, and MorphOS runs on it too. A brand new Sam440-flex could also cost 400-500 EUR with all the bells and whistles, plus it comes with a slower CPU.
edit: Just to clarify it, the MorphOS support isn't vital for me, since I have a PowerMac G5 to run MorphOS on. So if you find an AmigaOne XE G4 for example, I'd be content with that too.

@kas1e Sure thing. If someone would donate me a development machine, I'd update my ports to run on AmigaOS4 too. Within reasonable limits of course, e.g. games like Doom3 are no-go on systems which support the fixed-function pipeline only @tlosm I know, Unreal was one of the best looking games of its time, and it would run great even on Sam-class hardware. Unfortunately the only viable option would be doing a commercial port, but good luck finding a publisher for that For AvP you need to copy the avp_huds, avp_rifs, fastfile and FMVs directories, and the language.txt if my memory serves me right. It's probably safe to copy everything from the directory which has the original windows executable (avp.exe). Is H&D really open source? I can't find any sign of the source being released anywhere :-S

@tlosm Because unreal isn't open source, and it's probably never going to be because of Epic's policies. They are not really in favor of open sourcing their software, because they claim that unreal engine is updated incrementally. I still wonder how much code could be shared between UE1 build 266 and UE3 or the über-next-gen UE4. The only person they have shared the source with is Smirftsch of oldunreal.com. The guy had to sign an NDA, and had to agree with some pretty strange conditions. For example he has to bundle the linux executable in the windows installer, he can't make any further ports for exaple to Mac OS X, and so forth.

@tlosm Quote: ahha.. i see the glitches look like a specular bug in the second screenshot the world is up down :P :P That is not a bug, but a workaround for TinyGL, which was unnecessarily ported over. On MorphOS glCopyTexImage2D and glCopyTexSubImage2D flips the image vertically. @samo79 Quote: Aniway between the two, Speed Dreams 2.0 is for sure the most interesting one, if you release it, then it will become easily the perfect toy for any kind of benchmark and betatesting, expecially under X1000 but not only there
As optimistic one day I expect to be able to use it also on my SamFlex once a proper 3D will be released for modern HD cards of course.. so yes (if not too buggy) please please release it ! Speed Dreams most likely won't be playable on a Sam. The video card doesn't matter that much, because it's a CPU bound game. These are the official requirements for x86: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/spee ... wiki/HardSoftRequirements
