I have had similar problems, but found a solution. It is a crazy workaround, but it works. When I first tried to purchase something through AmiStore, it opened up Netsurf and displayed the payment website. When I clicked the button to pay with Paypal, it opened up a blank page. I modified URL prefs to use ODYSSEY | APPDIR:ODYSSEY | "*" https://%s*"" and disabled Netsurf. When I tried to purchase through Amistore using Odyssey, it opened the Odyssey about page. I switched URL prefs back to use Netsurf, and clicked to purchase Radeon 2.4 in Amistore. I then highlighted and copied the address from Netsurf and closed it. I opened Odyssey and pasted the address in Odyssey. I clicked to pay with Paypal and got the message that my browser did not accept cookies. I opened up Odyssey's prefs and made sure cookies were in fact enabled. I tried to pay with Paypal again... no cookie support. So... I once again selected Radeon 2.4 in Amistore, copied the address from Netsurf, pasted it in Odyssey, clicked to pay with paypal, copied the address from Odyssey, closed Odyssey, opened Timberwolf, pasted the address in Timberwolf and finally got to Paypal where I paid for the Radeon driver. Whew! There has got to be an easier way of doing this! PS: All of the above mentioned browsers are up to date.

Installing Lightwave

Good day,
I am new to Lightwave, having never installed it on a classic system.
I'm trying to install Lightwave on my little SAM460ex. I have the 4.3 Toaster CD and the 4.3 installer floppy adf image. The install script does not work. I tried using it under WinUAE, and the installer freezes after selecting components.
I want to know what I need from the CDROM and adf in order to run Lightwave. What programs and libraries do I need? What ASSIGNs do I need in user-startup?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Royce "Phantom Interrogative" Hunt

[Thread resurrection mode]
I'm looking for a copy of Lightwave 5, or the Video Toaster CDROM 4.3 that includes Lightwave 5. I tried contacting NewTek, who informed me that they no longer have any copies of the Amiga version of Lightwave or any VT support software. Does anyone know where I might be able to get it?

I was replying to eliyahu. I just noticed the original date of his posting (old thread). Concerning the 9xxx card, follow Hans' suggestion.

Several have already mentioned that your graphics card choices are limited to single-slot card in order to use your pci slot; however, that is not necessarily the case.
I use an ARC1-152-C7 riser card for my PCI slot, which makes room for a dual slot HD 4850. The riser card has my sil0680 card. With enough ribbon length, the ARC1-152 can allow you to use a dual slot graphics card and all of the slots on the SAM460ex. Just make sure you have adequate cooling and air flow in your case (as always).

@JosDuchIt et al,
If you do not have Ranger, get it from OS4depot.net. In Ranger, under the hardware and machine tabs, there is a BIOS tab. It will tell you what version of UBoot you have. Check that version against the latest version on the ACube website. (If you don't want Ranger, I think there is a CLI command like ReadNVRAM or something of the like that you can use).
For the hardware audio driver, check your current version using the version command, or the R-Amiga-i information window. Check that version against the latest on OS4Depot.

@thread I've been asked to do an HD version of the video. I already have the cloud backgrounds rendered. When I started rendering the lyapunov sequence, I realized how much I would love a port of the program to OS4.1. A port would enable me to get this done much faster. The only source code available is from a BeOS port. If anyone is willing to port the program back to the Amiga, the BeOS source is available at Soupgames Lyapunovia

@Kicko & Hans
I think it is safe to say that the majority of Amiga users joined the platform for either its graphics apps or its games.
Nowadays, it seems that users are always complaining about what we do not have. Why not celebrate what we do have by using the best of what we have to create some really cool things?
The software I used may be old, but it is lightning fast on new hardware. What took up to ten minutes to render on a 25mhz 68030 takes less than a second to render on either a SAM4x0 or a PC with WinUAE.
The software may be old, but I found many features, which I previously did not know about, producing some amazing results.
My next project may use Sketchblock and Blender alongside my treasuretrove of old-yet-capable software.

I've been playing with ImageFX to fix the Aladdin4D background problem. 1. Load the 3D image into IFX. 2. Load the original background as a layer. 3. Slide the blend down to 0%. 4. Use the free selector to select the 3D object which is now visible from the first layer. 5. Invert the selection in the buffer panel. 6. Slide the layer blend back to 100%. 7. Pick up the brush from the inverted region. 8. Delete the top layer. 9. Import the brush as a new layer. 10. Flatten layers and save. It is a complex process, but it works until someone comes up with a clever but simple process.

Good day,
Before anyone says, "Email the author," I have.
I upgraded FFShop to 0.5. I also updated FFMpeg to 1.1.3.
When I try to start FFShop, an error message pops up saying that I need Guigfx library 17+. I have Guigfx library 20. The documentation says that FFShop has not needed guigfx library since version 0.2. I removed FFShop and all dependencies and reinstalled them. It still says that I need guigfx library 17+. What am I missing?
Thank you,
Royce

Aladdin4D background problem

Good day,
I've been working on a project for the past four months. For the first two months, I worked on an animated background (clouds, space, lightning, etc.). For the last two months, I've added some 3D objects on top of those backgrounds. When I finally tried to put them all into a video, I noticed that the 3D frames had a different background color than the ordinary background frames Aladdin4D seemed to adjust the red by around 20, and the green by around 9, but not always. I don't know what recoloring method Aladdin4D uses. I was wondering what I have to do to change the background frames back to their original colors?
Thank you,
Royce

I ended up modifying the script Chris made using If-then statement
If i<100 | i>9
then
dest = "image-0" || i
else
if i<10
dest = "image-00" || i
else
dest = "image-" || i
