2/3 to 1/3. Yeah. That's a real "deal killer". Thanks. They could do anything thru to selling off the IP for near zero value.

Hi ChrisH, I've never had any other offers. Also, there is practically, for all intents and purposes, NOTHING available. There is a club here, that has no telephone number and does not reply to emails, and hasn't had a new meeting date posted for 6 months now. I went to it about 5 years ago, and everyone was asking everyone else how to get financing for themselves. I tried to get on Dragon's Den but they said because it isn't patentable, they're not interested. Although I saw a guy on one episode who couldn't get a patent for his thing. It was a screw head design of a Phillips and Robertson combined into one.

I've been trying to get my invention(s) made for over 20 years.
There's a guy who says that he'll invest $125,000 for half the company, but I can pay that back in 7 days when the company is up and running, but he says "it's a GREAT deal, what, are you going to keep looking for another 15 years for an investor?".... Meanwhile, I asked him to lend me $120 and he can't do it. I know him for 2.5 or 3.5 (can't remember how long ago we met) years now.
He has an MBA and best advice is "we need capital, and I know some people with money, we should get a third each of the company for the person to join".
You see, he has money, but it's all tied up in his possessions.... property, that is. So, he would have to risk his house to borrow funds to "make the business happen".
We've been talking about this for years. But I guess he really needs to do something now as he is running out of money. He knows people that they could easily afford to lose that amount of money. Is a "go between for funding" worth 1 third of a company?
I basically asked him yesterday "so, you want to lose part of your share of the company to someone that'll loan you $125,000 for 7 days?"
In other words I pressed him on if he HAD TO, could he come up with the money himself, if when he knew what the idea was and realized that it IS a "sure thing" would he be able to self finance it.
He said yes he could.
Only took me 3 years to get him to finally say that.
So, should I go into the deal? A fifty-fifty split in a company that will recover ALL start-up costs ($125,000) in 120 days*, AND be able to repay the the loaned amount in 7 days at that point. In other words.... the revenue from day 120 to 126 could be removed from the bank account and pay back the borrowed $125,000 with NO effect of day-to-day operations of the company hence forth.
* Could be in as little as 80 days.

So, why are web pages, 200K AND MUCH BIGGER in size then? No WONDER is so blasted SLOW!
I am not talking about pictures, audio and video, here, I mean the source itself.
The page that I'm writing this message in is ONLY 57344 bytes of HTML code.
I went to zap2it.com and viewed, then highlight, copy and pasted and got 61,605 bytes.
I then tried yahoo.com front page, "view source code" in google chrome.... and windows and ALL CONNECTED TO IT being TRASH AND GARBAGE, I tried to do highlighting of the source and it is SOOOOOO long that the computer, 3.4 GHz quad core, made google chrome throw up the "page unresponsive" warning TWELVE times, AND it took OVER FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!!! to complete the HIGHLIGHTING OF TEXT part!!!!!!!!!!! I'll leave it to you to try it and see what I saw as the size the html was.
And it is NOT that easy to code the stuff, either.

Oooohhhhh, soooo close KimmoK! Hi Hitman... I'm a fanatic, and I think that anyone that can barely, or comfortably buy an X1000, should help Amiga not fail buy getting one, as it's at the brink of disappearance and every move we make can change that in either direction. My reference to KimmoK's comment was that he came closest to bringing up that it's 64 bit and dual core. "128 bit computing" if you want to grab a page from Jaguar? And if this page is to be believed it's got a SIMD and I like the 2.04 mention. Also, the X1000 IS the best Amiga to use 4..... AMIGA, i.e. E-UAE. I personally, if I could buy another Amiga would not hesitate at all in getting the X1000 (I have nothing against ACube, mind you, as if one could only afford the less expensive unit, they should still get one from them.) A-Eon need as much help as they can get, and if the people that are better off buy into the high end, it would help immensely. I plan to buy a few netbooks when they come out, assuming they are in the $450 Canadian range, that is. Hope this helps.

A-GO-KNEE A-GO-KNEE!!!!! I wish that they'd release more details.... BUT I wish that when they say "We are starting to sell it...." that the time will be one week before a person can actually buy it. They should even say NOW how much time it will be between the announcement "it will be sold...." and the day it WILL be sold. I very much hope that it has an external VGA and/or DVI connector.

I don't know if this is helpful or not or even possible (heck, maybe it's been done like this for years now?), but what do you think of an AmigaOne that runs a website.... and the bulk of it is data that is retrieved from cloud storage sources like Dropbox etc.?
So, Perl or Apache generates HTML code on your AmigaOne, sends it to a user making requests and the pictures/audio/video is retrieved from DropBox which sends them data much faster than your ISP allows you to upload it at.
Like I said, maybe most people do it this way now. I don't know.

With the extra 6 people that's $1,550, which would be the equivalent of $1,550/35 = 44 people spending $35 as a shareware purchase.
Seems very tiny, but compare to how many are in the community AND how many actually buy anything, it's maybe not too bad?

I'm not using the wrong thread. The topic has been slightly focused on Cinnamon Writer at the moment, that's all.
It started out differently. Look at the first post.

Sad to say it, but I think it would feel pretty good if we could snail along with one new user a month, guaranteed.
I certainly would feel like I was accomplishing something.

Okay, well, it's a bit more than that. I think we'll need 4 to 6 more people.
What is this? 512 MB NAND Flash (optional) And how much more does it cost? Would it enhance usage? Also, I don't see a video card or case listed in the description, which may be another ~$200. Let's make this a "near deluxe, ready to use out of the box" system. The first price I quoted would be enough for a full 2 gigabytes of RAM.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to put forth and some aren't going to be too crazy about this:
1. Make a list of people that should get a Sam with most current AOS4.x update. Put it in the order that the people of interest will get one.
2. Then, forget about Amiga bounties.
3. Currently 900 Euro is just a few dollars below $1,200 Canadian, that's enough right?
4. $1,200 / 25 people is $48 Canadian. A movie in the theatre is $12 and a 3D movie is about $14. 25 Megabit internet is close to $60. 7 Big Macs, large French fries and pops are $48. It's not too much.
5. If 25 people are able to part with $50 a month, consider it a bill, we could get one new programmer, or artist of some type set up to compute per month.
6. Here's the key. Forget the Amiga bounties make a bill payment directly to AmigaKit. Skip the delay of going to one party, then the other, as well as the extra cost involved. What do you all think?
Unusual circumstances call for unusual methods.

Using Water To Make Electricity On The Moon

I was just wondering, when in physics, they spend a lot of time impressing upon you separating "weight" from "mass".
Most assuredly it's the case.
I was wondering however, if you use 1,000 liters of water on Earth and drop it 10 meters how much electricity you make versus doing the same on the Moon, the mass is the same, but less electricity is made, right? Due to the strength of gravitational pull having a lower acceleration of the water molecules, right?
Also, I've always been bothered by this question; "water dropping making electricity, is that changing gravity's pull to electricity?"

This is THE "break out" moment for AOS4.x and ANYONE that wants to try out AOS4.x CAN (soon) now!!!!
I don't think anyone asked; most netbook computers have built in video cameras, does this one?
Also, there are features I'd like to have but I don't really have a "deal breaker" over this netbook, except for "the more expensive it is, the less I'll buy, and at any price the minimum is 2".

I have bad news. Had the AmigaOne X1000 been available in May of this year, I would have bought it.... BUT, $3,000 is too high. I would have bought it for $2,400 (including 12% tax here, Canada) though.
However, the Netbook AmigaOne, I am prepared to buy:
3 ... If it's close to $300 to $400.
2 ... If it's $500 to $600.
And
4 ... If it is $336 (that's with 12% sales tax.)
What's realistic? I do need 2, but would buy up to 2 extra to support AMIGA!!!!!

RodTerl has this to say about the Amiga Netbook, and I totally agree!!! Quote: Um, have things got so bad, that even a machine with a THOUSAND TIMES the Raw CPU power of an A500/A2000 Classic is being worried over if it can handle TEXT? @.@
Lets be gernaous, and say it has only One Hundred times the code throughput of an A500 or A1200, given the increase is so great as to essentially place the older machines the same point, what would you love to be able to do on an A1200 with 100 Times the CPU throughput?
MP3?. CDXL (Youtube) resolution streaming video, web page JPEG decode? Or is it the Javascript engine run speed thats the problem, the layer on layer of CSS, script on script on script? Does Javascript use a JIT compiler model?
Can Javascript be compiled into nateive code or intemediate bytecode, then cached for future access to repeatable websites?
Can the idea of Gpatch and other code insertion methods on runtime be used to improve web page rendering? Or are these methods too close to Viruses?
Can a 400 Mhz netbook do more than a P3 500 PC with a Voodoo 3graphics card? Then its a matter of US companies abusing websites by overcoding them, not the limitations of the netbook. Comment source.P.S. What's REALLY important is, what's it called???
