Thanks for the quick fix! I D/L the update from Aminet and Wet now
works as it did previously.

I doubt this is related to other tools not working, also it doesn't use OAuth so it isn't a key revoked issue. I think the change is that the data is now on a secure site (https, not login required). I don't think my code supports that although it shouldn't be difficult to add.

I think we would all appreciate a fix & release.

Wet (v6.6) stopped working several days ago and reports error 302. I tried changing to several different locations but it didn't help. I did notice that the v6.6 installer didn't copy the newer "nsd_cccc.txt" to my installation, so I copied it manually. Does anyone else still have Wet working?

Re: Yahoo mail with YAM

Just can't stay away

@Amigo1
I had the same problem with getting emails from the GMail POP3 server but have found the problem in both cases. I had to go to account security settings at Yahoo and GMail and activate: "Allow apps that use less secure sign in".

I don't know if Yahoo & Google detect something unsecure in the way YAM accesses POP3 servers or if they just consider any application they are not familiar with as unsecure. lf YAM isn't doing anything wrong then maybe the YAM devs need to add a configurable spoofing mode to YAM.

Yahoo mail with YAM (Solved)
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

I've been trying to get my Yahoo emails with YAM using the Yahoo POP3 server and am unable to succeed. I'm using YAM 2.10-dev which has updated SSL support and have made what I think are the correct POP server settings in YAM. Here is the error I get when attempting to get messages from Yahoo (with my Yahoo username changed to 'myaccount'):

-----------------------------------------------------------
Bad response from mail server
'pop.mail.yahoo.com' of account
'myaccount@yahoo.com' to command 'PASS':

The mail server couldn't execute the
command and replied with the above error
message.
------------------------------------------------------------

Is there anyone who is getting Yahoo mail with YAM through the Yahoo POP3 server. I would appreciate any help.

Good idea. The main devs could also merge Deniil's changes into the main branch if they want to.

Are those changes tricky to find out, or trivial?
Could you list them here?

The only YAM file I had to change was: YAM/src/tools/gitrev.sh

I compiled from an 'sh' shell instead of Amiga shell.

I used the 'make' command that came with the OS4 SDK. Make 53.3 from OS4Depot won't work.

I only compiled it for my own use.

Do you know what's required to push changes to the YAM repo?

I have a few minor ideas about html mail handling... but it won't happen if I need to bang my head against the wall for several hours (which in my life translates to weeks).

You would need to open an account at Github and then request to be added to the YAM dev team. YAM is designed to compile for multiple platforms and making changes that work on one platform can easily break the compile or code for other platforms. The current YAM devs are probably the only ones familiar enough with the code to make changes that work on all platforms. If you join the team and commit changes, you will then be the one responsible for keeping YAM working on all platforms. My advice would be to compile your own personal version if you want but leave the repository alone.

It should be as easy to compile native/locally, but as it seems, it isn't.

It requires a few minor changes but it does compile native/locally on my X1000. However, it won't compile with the "make" command from OS4 depot; something seems to be wrong with that version of "make". I compiled my own copy of YAM with make v53.1 that was included in the SDK.

I guess YAM is already dead...

As of last July the full release of YAM is dead for me. My ISP decided to shut down the non-secure POP3 server and requiring the use of IMAP or a secure POP3 server. The official full release of YAM won't connect to the secure POP3 server and doesn't support IMAP. Odyssey no longer works with my ISPs online email pages so I had to switch to the overnight YAM build in order to continue using my X1000 for email. However, due to failing last releases of Odyssey and YAM, I rarely bother to use my NG Amigas any more.

As amigakit stated, it a window.class bug. If I remember correctly, the workaround is to open GUI pref and add a background image in "Gadgets/Background texture".

Re: Making PDF icons

@pjs
If you use the SGRAB method or print to an image file with AmiGS, you would resize the image, load the image into a standard Amiga icon in the information window (rawbinfo) that is opened by the Workbench "Icons/Information menu. With those methods, you would be creating an Amiga icon and not a PNG icon. As far as I know, the Information window will load almost any type of image that there is a datatype for.

I don't know what kind of icon PEB's IconEditor creates.

@Nuder_Try
Another possibility is to open the PDF in AmiGS, select print, change the output divice to PNG or JPEG, set the Print range to current page, set the resolution to 600x600, enter an output file and print the page to an image file.

Re: Help with Arexx Script

@MickJT
Your suggestion seems to be the solution to both of Raziel's problems. When I tested his script with his HTML example, replacing the bare "READLN(WP_read)" lines with "CALL READLN(WP_read)" seems to work. However, I still think he should check for a valid file opening even if it's an unlikely occurance.

Re: Help with Arexx Script

@Raziel
I your copied your AREXX script & HTML file; then stripped all the $A0 characters and tested your script with the HTML file. Sometimes error messages (especially in AREXX) do not indicate the true cause of the error. My tests indicate that in a subsequent run of the script there is no input file present or it's not readable. When I added a test for successful opening of the file and exiting if the opening failed, I didn't get the "READLN(WP_read)" failure.

Try replacing the line:

OPEN(WP_read,'T:WP_Data.html','R')

with the lines:

IF ~OPEN(WP_read,'T:WP_Data.html','R') THEN DO
SAY "File opening failed"
LEAVE
END

I'll take a look at your other problem tommorrow.

@Raziel
Sorry. I interpreted your request for a "jump" command to mean that you were looking for a "goto" command that would jump to another section of code without returning. I think the "CALL" command that others suggested it what you're looking for.

Re: Help with Arexx Script

@Raziel

Although others have suggested a "gosub" type command as a response to question number 1, there is an AREXX equivalent of a "goto" command. You can use the AREXX "SIGNAL" command to jump to another section of code.

Simplistic example:

/* Intialize Variables */
ScriptErr = 10 /* Default Error Return */
TestValue = 99

IF TestValue > 10 THEN SIGNAL Depart

SAY "Continuing script"
/* Other script stuff here */
ScriptErr = 0 /* Script succeeded */

Depart:
IF ScriptErr > 0 THEN SAY "Error: Script failed"

@daveyw
It appears that most of the tabs & spaces in a "code" block are replaced by the 0xA0 code. It's ironic that indentation can only be preserved by using a code block but copying text from a code block won't compile

If you want to copy & test most program code from an Amigans code block, you will need to find & replace 0xA0 codes with a capable text editor or a HEX editor like FileX from OS4Depot.

@Severin
It may look like the tabs are replaced by spaces but it's actually replacing the tabs with 0xA0 (160 decimal). I can open a Hex window in Turbotext and see what those blank spaces really are. Python might ignore those characters but if it's C code, GCC chokes on those characters. I just perform a "Find & Change" on those characters in Turbotext.

Re: Help with Arexx Script

@daveyw
It is irritating when you extract an archive and discover that it didn't extract into a directory but mixed all the archive files with existing files in the destination directory. Here is an AmigaDOS script that should create a directory from file & directory arguments:
Create new drawer in existing drawer from filename

.key file/A,drawer/A
.bra {
.
ket }

If
NOT EXISTS {drawerNOREQ

Echo "Destination directory not found"

Skip error
Endif

Set dirname `cut "{file}" word=1 separator="."`

Set path `Pathpart ADD {drawer} "$dirname"`

Makedir $path

LAB error
Unset dirname
Unset path

You might get better control by writing a C language utility that uses xadmaster.library to check for a "container" directory, create a directory if necessary and extract the archive with xadmaster.library.
