@TiredOfLife

I did at first.

Try downloading the latest YAM nightly which fixes it.

@xenic

At the moment the only way is to use the nightly builds. Hopefully YAM will be updated so an officially released versiob can be used.

I do keep measning to install Linux on my X1000. Maybe this is the incentive to get around to it.

@amigakit

I just did the Upate.

Interestingly the Partition Wizard worked this time and installed it in sys:system.

I do get the following messages though.

Clipviewer is missing on server.
Exchanger is missing on server.
AmiPDF is missing on server.
Multiedit is missing on server.

Apart fom AmiPDF, I do not have the others installed locally but surely updater should install them as it did (this time) with Partition Wizard, the message does not mention the local status at all.

AmiPDF I currently have AmiPDF 1.25 locally and there is 1.37 available remotely for update but the update does not proceed, as it returns the 'missing on server' message.

I wonder if this is related to problems I have with AmiStore which supposedly uses the same login id and password as Updater. AmiStore goes through the motions of logging in but if I then try to do anything get the login prompt again. The user menus are ghosted except for login. Any ideas.

Re: Undelete files from sd card?

@tonyw

It is one used in a FUJI camera so it will be FAT, I don't think Amiga file systems would work in other devices ? There seems nothing on Aminet or OS4Depot that would do it.

I don't have nor want a PC so that is not an option.

I did manage to download something that ran on my wife's MacBook, so the data is on her machine until I get around to transfering it back to my X1000.

> If it's NGFS, then use the NGUndelete command.
Isn't that only available to beta testers? Which reminds me I need to sort out all my passwords for that, as I lost them a while ago when managing to destroy a hard drive

I just managed to delete a pile of photos on an SD card.

I don't have a PC, just several NG Amigas.

Is there any software that works under OS4 ?

More Odyssey questions
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

There are a few undocumented parts of Odyssey that over the years I have wondered about, I now wonder if some of these may be causing problems.

Settings -> content.

What is the Cache Model and does it make any difference to what you set it to. Which should be used, Primary Web Browser, Document Browser or Document Viewer, I guess the former - but what is this option for or is it just superfluous ?

The Allow Plugins option is disabled, but it is not in the individual URL Settings Window. The only Plugin seems to be Dummy anyway. Sometimes the Scripts have been referred to as plugins, are they different or can they be exchanged for another ?

Settings -> Privacy.

What is "local storage" ? It does not appear to be a cache but many numerous files that seem to have no purpose that I can see of. Are these files of any use or do they just slow Odyssey down when the folder gets too big ?

Why do we have webpageicons.db which seems to store every favicon that Odyssey comes across. Surely only those needed by your bookmarks need to be saved. Is there any real point in having this file and just store the favicons that Odyssey actually uses.

Enable Autofill - very useful but see my other post about having the ability to edit it or just delete unwanted entries.

Scripts. How are these used, is it possible to create your own to alter invisible or badly formed CSS or bypass certain javascript functions that may cause DSIs in Odyssey ? How does Odyssey integrate a script in to a web page ?

No doubt I'll think of more questions later !

What is the file format of the Autofill settings. I have many entries that are typing errors, or old email addresses that no longer exist that I would like to delete.

I guess there is more to it that just deleting the offending strings ?

Network Activity Log

Quite a regular

Is it possible to save a log of the network activity window. Often the information goes past too quick to read it all. So a textfile to peruse may make finding out which scripts cause probelms in Odyssey much easier.

If there is an option already, how could I set it ?
If not can one be added - please.

So far nothing has helped. If anything the previous DSIs tend to be full lockups now.

Here is a crashlog I did earlier, as the new ones I cannot get as the entire system locks up.

@pvanni

Interesting. I have tried many different spoofs none of them worked.

My current spoof in Odyssey is Chrome 42 - which I entered via a hex editor. I guess the same sort of edit will result in a Chrome 55 spoof.

I'll try it out.

TSB and other blank screens.
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hi,

Folk in the UK will know that the TSB has made a right mess of updating its online "service" recently. Unfortunately it is STILL not working on any of the Amiga browsers. It is not possible to login as all you get is a blank screen. There is source code there that can be viewed and the Web Inspector will show code too. There is a LOT of network activity, only to result in a blank white page. A few elements can be found behind the blank wall but nothing of any value, and what you get if you try without JS enabled - but at least then you can see something.

Go to https://www.tsb.co.uk/personal/ and click the Login button or directly to https://internetbanking.tsb.co.uk/personal/logon/login/ to see this. Do not worry if have have no login details as one thing that is certain is that you will not be able to enter anything anyhow. No web form just a flipping blank screen.

Some dodgy JS can also sometimes cause Odyssey to lock up, where is the best place to send bug reports and crash logs ?

Another site that is similar is https://myview.highland.gov.uk/dashboa ... ui/index.html#/index/main

Again it matters not if you have no login details as no login form (should be a modal) ever appears. All you can see is a pale grey screen with a small white circle in the middle. What has gone wrong with modern web 'design' that uses so much code to acheive exactly nothing - why not leave things alone that used to work

I have been trying things out at https://www.w3schools.com/ and it seems Bootstrap 4, has some classes that do not work in Odyssey yet the equivalents in BS 3 do. BS seems a very appropriate acronym ! I wonder if the failure of these places to show any information is due to this ? For goodness sake a secure login form is hardly rocket science so why is all this garbage so in vogue at the moment.

Can the Odyssey SCRIPTS feature be used to correct broken JS/CSS so that basic login forms can be seen where demented web designers decide to use code that shows absoluetly zilch ? There seem to scripts that workaround YouTube so I wonder if the same ideas can be used on these sites that do not want any users to be able to use them.

Bill.

Well, I found a way to do it, but I'm not sure if I like it all the time now.

The classimple theme does it automatically, you can still right click > open to leave the previous drawer window open.

No need to change themes, it is a Workbench Prefs setting.

Just enable the "Close Parent automatically" chekbox.

Cheers mate, it is a real pain having a medeival internet connection but there is nowt I can do about it. So small archives are essential, I would like to try QT but the filesize has always put me off.

Apparently fibre to the area is "coming soon" but it has been "coming soon" for well over a year with no sign of anything hapenning

Of course it's a huge archive. But you only have ton install it ONCE. And then you dont't have to touch it (except in there in an update 2 or 3 years later).

What is "childish" about complaining about unnecessarily large files.

I have never used QT nor anything that uses it because with only a 512kbps connection it would take forever to download it. If the archive could be split in to user and dev sections then it SHOULD be. It is unreasonable to ask people to download huge files when they may only need a small fraction.

If there was just a smaller user archive I might be able to try out QT, as it stands there is no chance.

I am stuck with 512kbps and do not have any choice for a faster connection so huge files are a real pain.

I have uploaded a small patch to OS4 Depot which will patch Digital Universe v1.7 to version 1.7 update 1.

This fixes a couple of minor issues in the released version, see the readme file for further details.
