Sounds nice but you can only listen to one at a time :)

For me, my favourite streaming radio station went off the air earlier this year.... Mental Boys Vocal Trance :(

@nbache

Your random access time and probably seek time should be much better than a normal disk. In fact it should be pretty much linear across the drive.

And of course you don't need to defrag :)

@TSK

Can you confirm that you can write files TO the share from the Amiga?

I was always before able to access the share, but writing files didn't work on Vista. Worked fine on XP.

Thanks

@salass00

Great news, thanks.

It's unfortunate it will not connect to Vista or Windows 7 shares, though.

The usefulness of SMBFS is rather compromised because of this limitation (for those who have a Vista or Windows 7 PC).

Well if we did lose him it will be a big loss. We lost Detlef and now, maybe Joerg...

Every loss of active and productive developer hurts. And that is not only for OS4, but for any smaller project where there is a limited pool of talent.

Re: Mediator's Driver on AMIGA OS 4.0 CLASSIC

@nubechecorre

Yes, it would be nice. I am in contact with Elbox now trying to get their OS3.x driver to work under OS4, but so far no luck.

I need a program that works under OS4 that can read the memory address of the Radeon ROM starting at memory address 5002000.

I tried ARTM but it doesn't read the memory properly (that old program is not working under OS4).

I see all the screenmodes show up for Radeon under OS4, but if I try to use one the system freezes.

The Radeon is working great under OS 3.9BB2 on the same machine.

@nubechecorre

Maybe it is not the correct version. The latest radeon.card doesn't work anyway.

I heard someone mention on the Mediator list a radeon.card 1.4b...but I don't have that.

Anyone have it out there?

@CountRaven

You could try to edit the tooltypes of the PicassoIV monitor file in devs:monitors ad point the it to the OS 3.9 picasso96Settings file.

At least that worked for me when I was setting up the Radeon card (which I never got fully working - but at least all the screenmodes from OS 3.9 showed up in screenmode prefs).

I have OS 3.9 on another partition so you will have to also have access to your OS 3.9 install in order to point to the file, obviously.

*BUMP*

So no one has a Radeon working on OS4 classic with the Elbox drivers? :(

oh well...

@nubechecorre

I don't think it was ever really tested, though. I've done extensive testing with it and a debug atiradeon.chip.

The card is properly detected by pcigraphics.card which then passes it to ATIRadeon.chip. Unfortunately ATIRadeon.chip fails to initialize it properly. Hans de Ruiter looked at it and said the ROM isn't being read properly.

...which is why I was inquiring whether or not anyone had it working with the Elbox drivers on OS4.

According to Elbox, all you need to do is copy (from your working OS 3.9 partition:

pci.library to LIBS:
Radeon.card to LIBS:Picasso96
Devs:Monitors/Radeon from your OS3.9 partition to OS4 partition
Devs:Monitors/Radeon.info from your OS3.9 partition to OS4 partition
and comment out PCIGraphics.card and 3dfxVoodoo.chip from OS4 kicklayout

I tried that but unfortunately it freezes shortly after clicking "Test" in screenmode prefs (although the Radeon modes do show up).

@nubechecorre

Yes, Radeon is supported but not on classic. There is much more work required in the Radeon ROM initialization that is tricky. UBoot and OpenFirmware handle the graphics card ROM (normally x86 code) initialization, but on the classic there is no uboot or OF...

5V Radeon on OS4 classic?
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi, I have a 5V Radeon card in my A4000/CS PPC/Mediator system that is working just great under OS 3.9.

I know the Radeon is not working with OS4 native drivers, so I have tried to use the Elbox drivers, as per their instructions in an e-mail to me.

However, I am unable to get it working. While the Radeon screenmodes show up in Screenmode Prefs on OS4, if I try to use or test a screen the machine will freeze.

Does anyone out there have a Radeon working on OS4 classic and if so, how did you get it working?

thanks!

@klesterjr

Very nice! Will these icons also work/install on OS 3.x?

If they are "OS4 32-bit icons" then the only way I have found to display them on OS 3.x is with AFA_OS. Unfortunately there is no individual tool like "PowerIcons".
