Re: accidential deletion

@diamond

First, welcome to the Amiga world!

Second, don't be afraid just because you deleted the wrong file... this can easily happen on any other computer including PC and Mac too.

And third: You said you are using a router to access the internet? Then read this excellent, albeit a bit weird formatted :), PDF: http://ngi-info.dyndns.org:8080/Amiga ... _4.1_Sam440EP_English.pdf

The internet configuration is explained on page 8 and up.

BTW: Those informations are NOT limited to Sam hardware but the same on ANY AmigaOS 4.1 :)

Good luck! If questions arrive, just ask here.

@tldaley

hmm .. I only quickly checked HP and Kyocera pages and both DO state if the printer supports Postscript along with the usual PCL stuff..

E.g. the Kyocera FS-C5100DN is on my wishlist (actually the 5200, but it's basically the same printer), it supports Postscript (see Specification/Emulation on the website), but as I don't own it yet, I can't tell if it really works with AmigaOS.

Here's the australian website for you: http://www.kyoceramita.com.au/product ... cts/Pages/FS-C5100DN.aspx

No, you can't buy new hardware for MorphOS, just like ChrisH wrote. Read your own quote again :)
You can now only buy another used and dead-end hardware to run MOS on. Granted, it should be easier and cheaper to get one of the millions G4 Mac Minis than a G4 Peg2 ...

But thats anyway good for us, because its very likely some of the current Peg2 owners will buy a Mac Mini and sell their Peg2, which in turn might end up in the hands of someone who wants to run OS4.1 on it

I just successfully logged in using Firefox.

What browser did you use for your try? IIRC IBrowse doesn't work and OWB might cause problems. If you can, try using Firefox or so from a PeeCee, Mac or Linux box.

@xenic

I did not try to compile YAM on my Sam440ep, but I actually compiled quite a lot of smaller and bigger projects (partly OS components) with it without any issue. Its no flex, but I wanted to tell FYI.

What comes to mind is that GCC might use quite a large amount of memory for compiling. So did you already check your memory? Maybe it is at fault. (Just a guess, but always good to rule out as much possibilites as possible)

Re: Amiga T-Shirts?

@Daedalus

I like the polo shirts idea (no I'm *not* gay.. I just like them.. after all, you don't have to half-way erect the shroud, which *really* makes them looking.. well.. you know). And I like the idea of not yet another printed shirt ... I can do the prints on my own without the need to get dozens of those shirts... prints are cheap in production and also in look and quality compared to embroidery..

Anyway, Daedalus you may count me in for 1 or 2 (depending on available colors... one white shirt and one black shirt would be cool).

1) I think you have a typo in the model number. There is no and never was any Seagate HD model ST3110023A. It must be ST3160023A if you have 160GB and the rest of the number is correct. The digits after ST3 usually tell about the size of the Segate HDs.

2) The firmware shouldn't matter.. if you get the very same model, the hardware should be the same. Especially higher firmware revisions usually only mean bugfixes. So you should be save with every HD of the same model as long as the firmware revision at least matches your revision.
I wouldn't use a model with older firmware because its very like more buggy.

@CountRaven

Just enter it's name, i.e. "usbasixeth.device" manually in the device string gadget of the manual configuration in Internetwizard or if you configured already with another device in prefs/Internet (interfaces tab -> highlight the entry and press 'Modify').

Note: Do not enter any path for it.. just it's name. AmigaOS first searches in RAM if the needed device is already loaded (which it is with Poseidon) and only if it can't find anything there, it tries to load it from disc.

Hello,

since about a week or so I can't reach www.os4depot.net (which is the very same as us.os4depot.net, i.e. 69.64.39.177) anymore. A tracert also didn't reach the server.

The se.os4depot.net mirror works though.

Anyone else with that experience?

Edit: hum .. seems my constant tries to tracert and open it via IP solved it somehow.. it's again reachable but extremely slow..

@afxgroup

Thank you for your ongoing work on newscoaster!

May I ask why you don't commit your changes back to the sourceforge project? The last commit there was done in 2005! I would really like to see such code committed back where it originally came from, so others could also have a peek.. if you have troubles reaching the original author/sf project admin, just ask here on amigans if someone knows him or over at aw.net .. I'm sure this problem would be a solvable one

(While you are at it, you could update the fairly outdated newscoaster website which was last touched in 2003 )

@jahc

Maybe a silly question but... everyone of your "Alpha xx" versions often contains (partly) important features, so why the heck aren't you just bumping the revision??

I mean, after all thats exactly what revisions were invented for Sure, you would be at something like 0.120 or so by now, but just take a look at the revision of rtg.library

It's all fine if you say your tool hasn't deserved a version of at least 1 and leave that at zero (though I'm personally no friend of that either ) but you should really get rid of this "Alpha", "Beta", "Blafasel" nonsense and just bump the fecking revision.. your SabreMSN would deserve it

BTW: Now that you plan to exchange your own core with libpurple, wouldn't it be time to think about a new name? After all, with libpurple you'll get a multi-protocol messenger and.. well .. I personally never liked the name "SabreMSN" anyway (yeah, those personal opinions are the hell )..

The multi card reader is an USB massstorage device which is supported by OS4. The cards you plug in there are supported through CrossDos as long as they are FAT formatted. Of course, they are also supported if formatted with some Amiga filesystem, but then they would be quite useless for anything else..

Why not? That thing is nothing special, it just routes a lot of connectors to the front. The LCD only displays what the temperature sensors of the panel record, so there's nothing OS specific there according to the panel specs AFAICT.

Mechanical wise this case works as any other case would do. All front connectors should also work (besides firewire, etc. which aren't present on the SAM of course). The LCD will probably even display some temperature information if it gets its information directly from the sensors... if not, it needs special driver software which isn't available to AmigaOS AFAIK.

I don't know for sure, as I don't own a working Classic anymore, but in theory the prism2.device should also work on Classic+mediatorSX.

Like my RTL8029 driver the prism2 driver doesn't need/use any DMA. So from a technical point of view, it should be working fine.

But again, this is only in theory.. if it's actually working like that in practice, I don't know.

I'd just try it ;)

For really passing the test, not only 100/100 points have to be reached, but also the animation as to be smooth and the final picture has to be pixel by pixel identical to the reference picture.

ScummVM for iPhone/iPod touch
Just popping in
Just popping in

Ever wanted to play Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Full Throttle or Simon the sorcerer while you are sitting in the train? With ScummVM for iPhone and iPod touch this is possible and makes a hell lot of fun!!

Many of you may know that ScummVM exists since quite some time for jailbroken iPhones and iPod touch... now it's also available for official devices which are NOT jailbroken!!

Unfortunately Apple in its boundless wisdom decided to reject it as an App Store submission so it was decided to distribute it via Ad Hoc directly.

So if you want ScummVM but don't want to jailbreak your device and risk transforming it into an expensive brick, point your browser to http://iphone.stackswap.net/scummvm.html and get ScummVM for official devices!

It's only 10 Euro via PayPal, which is quite fair considering the included FileManager which makes downloading game data as easy as possible.

How does Ad Hoc work? Very simple: You submit the needed information on the formular and pay 10 Euros via PayPal. Within at most 24 hours you'll get an email with downloading and installation instructions which basically tell you where to download ScummVM and that you just have to drag'n'drop it into iTunes and sync with your device to get it installed.

More information about the whole story with Apple and of course ScummVM can be found at http://iphone.stackswap.net/scummvm.html
