@328gts
Why would you give Matty one third of the $$$ that alfkil deserves for his hard work on Qt6 ???
@alfkil
Alfkil, please avoid anything to do with Matty. I'm glad to contribute for further development, just don't feed the weasel.
It would be even better if I could use an Amiga browser to make the contribution! ;D
Keep up the great work!
Thanks,
PJS

I can't help with the code, but I really appreciate your efforts on this project and am hopeful for its success.
OTOH, I can help otherwise... But Oddity no longer works in PayPal. :(
I contributed for your work on Qt6 (and an Amiga browser) with droid. :/
Please keep up the great work! The TextEdit app was really impressive.
THANKS,

Hi all,
I think we have bear in mind, Timberwolf were just progress builds... Beta releases.
I found that it could be made to run most reliably by making it start from scratch every time. Somehow it seemed to collect bad ju ju as it ran. To that end, I added these line to the beginning of its "Timberworlf" startup script:
------------------- if exists CurrentUserProfile NOREQ delete CurrentUserProfile/#? all force endif -------------------
But in the end, TW just stopped working on most sites. I suspect that's likely due to its decades old SSL code.
For as great an HTML 4 browser as IBrowse is, the lack of a more modern browser is dire threat to the modern Amiga world.
At least those with the money are now working on new clocks, docks and replacement C: commands. Brilliant!
Thanks,
PJS

I wonder about the Polls functionality of Amigans. There's the link there and a few old polls. Don't know how or if they work. Presumably they are Amiga friendly/usable?

Yeah, Didn't work in OS4 IBrowse 2.5.5 (released today!) either...
I guess the poll was to see what peecee users wanted AmigaOS to be?
;)
Who knows?

Interesting, you make it sound like ASB/Amigastore has done the same thing you have been doing for a many years... Laying legal claims of ownership to things you did not create... Did Amigakit create the "Amiga"? No. Create the 1200? 4000? No. Create the boing ball? No. And yet you have played legal games to lay claims to all those and then attacked and deprived others who also wanted to relate to OUR shared Amiga history. AFAIK, that kind of agressiveness hasn't been demonstrated by any other Amiga retailer that has borrowed Amiga for their branding. Now you claim an exclusive connection to Amiga history because you played the legal card first, without any shred of additional validity? "The Amiga Store" heh And, yes, a lawyer might agree with your name game, but is it ethical? That's your defense? Standing with the ethics of lawyers? Sounds about right. What's next? Going after more "Amiga" names? "Ami" prefixes? Attacking more people/things that predate your existence? How dare people use their C= A3000's with Amiga badges on them without AmigaKit licensing!?

@eliyahu
Yes, many of us know Matty in person. I don't think he dares act in person like he does while hiding on the internet. The consequences would be more.. umm.. tangible.
I used to make excuses for him and his behavior. "It's a small company, they're short handed and have no money".
But Matty's abuse of customers, losing people's hardware, failing to answer problems, nickel'n'dime-ing folks exceeds anything excusable. It's his mindset
We've told him time and time again, IN PERSON, to take care of customers. I've done so. You have. Trevor has done so. Matty has ignored it all.
MattyOS is the poster child of the Matty approach. Overwriting 35 years of development with his naked, half-baked power grab.
His behavior is not an "accident" of circumstance but a reflection of Matty's persona.
Anyone feeding him dollars, pounds or euro's feeds the behavior. Do NOT feed the weasel.

Hi folks, So we've got this earnest Amiga dealer out there that has been recommended to me by many users... https://amigastore.eu/The other day I wanted to check out their offerings and typed in the wrong URL. So I'm wondering.... WHAT SPECIES OF WEASEL WOULD DO THIS ??? http://amigastore.com/or what about this.... http://amigastore.net/This really appears as one of the lowest examples of sleazy behavior exhibited in our little community. Please click those links. I'd suggest Amigastore was abused. Tell me whether the linked business is one that should be patronized by our community? It would be nice to see this sleaziness driven out. Thanks, PJS

@kas1e
Taking money to pay HDR for his work on the graphics systems? Great!
But Matty wants us to give him our $$$ to pay for overwriting parts of AmigaOS. Why should users be financing Matty making a land grab in the shadow of Hyperion's incompetence?
It's for the love of AmigaOS that Matty's trashing it shouldn't be supported.

@kas1e
Why would I want support a ridiculous effort to waste man-years of dev time to overwrite AmigaOS with lesser components?
Selling the components separately would have made more $$$ for the developers of quality improvements and compliments to AmigaOS.
What a disappointing mess.

Agreed, reviving the old TW code is likely a fools errand... OTOH, there's the potential of working with the TenForFox guys... They have a PPC Firefox port, are Amiga aware and know about OS4... http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/..or maybe we should look at "Goana", an unoxidized (i.e., Rust-less) branch of Mozilla? http://www.moonchildproductions.info/goanna.shtmlIn any case, we OBVIOUSLY need some progress on the browser front. ...instead of the INFANTILE, MORONIC efforts to develop the world's prettiest 24bit clock or overwrite AmigaOS with retarded C command replacements [Thank you, MattyOS]. How can users help the browser situation? PJS

@nubechecorre The catweasel cards are supposed to let you access Amiga classic floppies read/write. But you need a slot, etc. Another option - external and USB based, but not transparent - would be to use the KyroFlux interface and a USB floppy drive. https://www.kryoflux.com/I can't say I have used either, but the KyroFlux is supposed to deal better with old source media, etc. Please let us know how things work out. Good luck, PJS

@white
hmmm... Odd that YT.rexx isn't working for you. I'd suggest it's likely either a configuration problem or that you don't have the latest versions of YT.rexx or Mplayer installed.
I'm able to stream your URL from IBrowse with this FAB Menu:
Action = ARexx Command = internet:yt/yt.rexx Args = %l silent autoplay skipdash
I was also able to load the stream URLs in IBowse using this FAB menu entry:
Action = ARexx Command = internet:yt/yt.rexx Args = %l html ibrowse silent
Otherwise, you could try sending MickJT a PM to see if he can help you. There are some DRM videos that need his beta version to play, but it doesn't look like your URL is one of them (??).
Good luck,
PJS

Well, FWIW, I found a new disk that wasn't in the gnudb yet, so I filled in the data & ripped it (again).
I don't know when ADRipper makes it's data submission to the server, but there were no complaints.
OTOH, going to the server's search page didn't immediately reflect my submission either. Maybe it needs to be vetted, seconded, didn't work or something?
Thanks,

@khayoz
Oh Cool! gnudb.org DID WORK!
Thanks khayoz for pointing that out!
I set ADRipper's settings to:
protocol = CDDBP server = gnudb.gnudb.org port = 8880
I left all the remaining query/submit paths as they were and ADRipper was able to populate a CD contents.
I'm not yet sure whether the "submit" functionality works. Will have to mess with that a bit more.
Fantastic in any case. Should stop by the used CD store to celebrate! ;D
Thanks,
PJS

gnudb.org may be another great option. Something I wonder how hard would be to support.
Knowing little what they're doing, I wonder whether the proxy could somehow be spoofed through the "hosts" file?
Grasping at straws... ;)

LOL
I guess I just don't see what more I want from a CD ripper program. I'm a big fan of things that just work.
;)
I was hoping adapting ADRipper's CDDB/FreeDB code to make it work with MusicBrainz wouldn't take that much effort.
Sorry.

Yeah, I just found an article on it all... https://liliputing.com/2019/12/freedb- ... -free-music-database.html...and found an alternate DB site called "MusicBrainz" that is even supposed to have a FreeDB compatible API mirror... http://mb.videolan.org/doc/FreeDB_GatewayBut (there's always one), that doesn't work with ADRipper either. After "Querying CDDB..." it pops up the connection error message again. Bummer. Reading the thread above, it looks like no more work is intended for ADRipper... Double Bummer. It seemed to work great and I don't know why Trixie would want to scrap it. c'est la vie. PJS
