Re: RX 550 not working in "Power" Prefs with Enhancer 2 -SOLVED

@Paul

After reading some other threads about Enhancer 2, I manually copied over the RadeonRX.chip from the Enhancer Kickstart folder, and now the Prefs are working as they should.

RX 550 not working in "Power" Prefs with Enhancer 2
Quite a regular

I have a Saphire RX550 in my X5000. Sysmon identifies it as a Polaris 12 card. But in the Prefs it says "No Dynamic Power Management Resource found for this board."

I thought the 550's and 560's were all working. Is this something I should make Hans aware of?

@kas1e

No. Updater from aeon is what I'm having trouble with. Only reason I post it in this thread too is because it was working again after Khayoz's suggestion to enable Effects in GUI prefs.

Now after installing the hotfix it's not working again.

BTW, I did do it manually by getting the hotfix from Hyperion's download page. I didn't even think to use Amiupdate for it, after I saw on Facebook the notice from Hyperion that the hotfix was available.

@all

I just installed the hot fix. Prior to that Updater was working for me using the old kernel and after enabling Effects in Prefs/GUI. Now after the hot fix, Updater locks up from dock, drawer and shell.

Ready for acxtion here, too, except. . .

Except for Updater. It was working for me again before the hot fix, after enabling Effects in GUI prefs. Now Updater is dead again.

Locks me up when I click the Amidock icon, or the System drawer Updater icon. Lcoks up when I try to run it from shell.

Otherwise, I have Tunenet running smoothly while also replying to this message.

@khayoz

I have had it disabled this whole time since the update. I just checked the box to enable it, rebooted and Updater worked fine now with effects turned on.

@nbache

Ah, yes, coming from Hyperion.. Much better.

No, AMIupdate is working fine for me. It's Updater which is acting up for me.

@kas1e

OK. I'll try to be patient.

But just before I read this, I tried running Updater from the shell and it worked, after three more failures from clicking the icon.

Hopefully that (running from shell) will happen again when the fix is available.

Updater locking up

When I click on Updater (whether in AMIdock or from actual program icon in window)the window opens and immediately the mouse freezes and I have to perform a case button reboot. This is whether I have started with the old kernel or the new one.

Do others find Updater to be as unstable as I have? I sure hope the promised "hot fix" for update 2 will be delivered by some other means than Updater, or I won't be able to get it!

Re: Odyssey Browser . . . it's all Greek to me FIXED

@jabirulo & Thematic

I ended up going into Odyssey's prefs and choosing all different fonts, even though the ones listed are in my Fonts directory, and while I was at it made them big enough to read. Now it's working as it should using the Bitstream and DejaVu font family's.

Odyssey Browser . . . it's all Greek to me
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Since going to update 2, Odyssey has been opening up with all the text on the page showing up in a Greek alphabet. This is true for both beta 7 and for the last release candidate.

I have tried:
Clear and reset Locale prefs three times
Both new and old kernel in kickstart
Clear the font caches in both versions of Odyssey
Tried newly unarced versions of beta 7 and release Odyssey

I had to reinstall Netsurf from scratch to get it to run at all. But now that it's running, Netsurf shows up in English on the screen.

I remember this happening years ago on my A1-XE, but I can't remember how I fixed it.

Any ideas?

Re: X5000 boot ISO CD won't boot anymore SOLVED
Quite a regular

@Paul

I found out accidently that if I choose Boot from Mass storage, it will boot from the CD.

I also found from reading old posts that I need to type "boota" at the X5000 prompt if I choose boot from optical.

So now all I need to do is switch back to the old graphics card and have at it (update 2).

X5000 boot ISO CD won't boot anymore
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Steps taken:
Power down after inserting boot CD
Power up
Hit "m" key when "laser" shoots in boot image
Choose Boot options
Choose boot from optical
Nothing happens

Following kas1e's thread, I tried UltraISO on the windows 10 machine and burned another boot CD. Results are same as above. Besides, the boot CD had to work at some point, or I wouldn't have a running X5000.

I'd like to do the new update 2, but if I can't start from CD, I'm afraid to try it, since it's recommended that we start with a clean install.

Any ideas why I can't boot from the ISO CD? HD is set to bootable, with boot priority at 0. If I just boot normally from the HD, I can insert the boot CD, and sometimes it shows up the three icons on the screen, ???forgot name?, Extra's installer. and Amiga file systems. Sometimes nothing shows after insertion.

Joy. . . yes. It pushed ms to stop waiting for an X5040 to getting an X5020 instead. I'm enjoying my 5000 a lot. I've parted out my XE, assuming the Mai chip was probably bad. It was a good run of almost 18 years.

Re: ZitaFTP Server user experience

I'd really like to share files with my Win10 computer. .So much so that I bought a license for Zita last night.
Trouble is, after installation, when the window pops up to configure the server, after clicking OK, I get the following message:

Opening TLS certificate failed:
ENVARC:KeaSigmaDelta/ZitaFTP/server.pem. Error: system lib

Latest AMISSL was already installed. I thought the readme said a TLS cert wouold be generated upon completion of the configuration. But I can't get there because of the error message.

@Raziel

Based on what you put here, I replaced layout.gadget, listbrowser.gadget, and Updater with older versions (reboot, of course.) Still get the constant loop of asking for my credentials over and over again.

Is A-eon working on this? (rhetorical question to A-eon)

Updater won't run
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Amigakit helped me straighten out my AMIsphere password issue. . . more or less. They asked me to remove the A-EON directory from ENVARC:

Well, now I can log into AMIstore. But even though the password works with AMIstore, I can't get Updater to run. Before deleting the ENVARC: A-EON directory, Updater just kept looping and asking for my credentials over and over again.

Now that I have deleted that directory, Updater (and the mouse, system) freezes as soon as the window opens.

I've tried running Updater also from the downloaded Enhancer pack software, and from the shell. Doesn't make any difference. Hard reboot before each try.

Help, please!

@LiveForIt

Yeah, thanks. Amigakit got back to me with that. I've got it all sorted now EXCEPT that I can't get Updater to work. AMIstore works fine again. Part of my problem was the older issue of using a special character in my password instead of alpha-numeric only. I changed that and it worked. Oddly, the special character password worked at the new Amisphere site. Just not for AMIstore or Updater.

Amigakit also told me to delete the directory for A-EON from ENVARC:. That MIGHT have helped with AMIstore, but hasn't corrected the problem with updater.

@amigakit

On the Amiga with Odyssey, I still get the same message.

On Windoze 10 with Firefox I get a message saying "bad Cert domain" When I say I'll accept the risks and try to log in anyway, it just keeps going in a loop with a request for user ID and password.

Thanks,

I had to request a new password for Amisphere. (due to me losing the working one )

The email I recieved directed me to go to https://a-eon.biz/account. When I tried it (on the Amiga and on Windoze) I get a notice that says:

Error 60: SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK.

Meanwhile the tempmorary pasword they sent me is not working to log in to Amistore.

Hopefully, Matthew might see this.
