Last thing I remember reading is that Timberwolf development needs to wait until OS4 3D drivers are completed. (Gallium?) Regardless, I don't know why everyone is so impatient.

I don't think that should be automatic. It should be done manually or with a third-party program run manually. I don't want it to delay the install process. And more importantly, it has been a great ability for me to move a bootable hard drive to another computer and have it load fine. It's very useful during hardware or software repair, and also for advance configuration of boot disks for use with future re-installs. When I try moving boot disks with Windows it almost always crashes without any recovery.

Here are some candidates for removal
MODULE Kickstart/lsi53c8xx.device.kmod (PCI SCSI controller)
MODULE Kickstart/3dfxVoodoo.chip (Old Voodoo video cards)
MODULE Kickstart/siliconmotion502.chip (Sam440 on-board video)

That's true, the number of users is slightly larger than the members of Amiga related websites. I've met some Classic Amiga users who don't even use the Internet, and others who read forums, but never join any Amiga sites. I hope some of them will update to OS4 some day.

I agree with most people here. This has nothing to do with Amiga or OS4. If they really wanted to help, they would write some OS4 (real Amiga) code, but otherwise it just seems like a self-promotion.

If you use AmiUpdate, then you know there is constant progress on OS4. There are also dramatic milestones accomplished, such as support for the on-board X1000 audio.
It is best for Hyperion to "do", rather than "say". I've always like their policy of working rather than hyping.
Same as you, I'm looking forward to improved hardware support, mostly 3D support for additional video cards since I've not yet used 3D on my X1000.

Step 1: Go to www.os4depot.netStep 2: If site is down, try again tomorrow. Web sites go down, so there is no need to start a new forum thread each time. If your looking for a piece of software, maybe one of us can help.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9e-K0MjPfIResidualVM is a game engine to play 3D adventure games. This is presented on an AmigaOne X-1000 using AmigaOS4.1 with software video rendering. Grim Fandango is a Lucas Arts game, and you need the original game files to play. (or the demo version)

There are adapters for 2 common interface standards, but for most of the drives I pulled, there are no adapters.

I thought most of the laptop slim drives could take a shake, but I've never intentionally tested them to find out.
I've salvaged a lot of slim DVD drives from laptops, but the trouble I have is finding ones with standard interface connections that will work in a desktop.

Congratulations on your X1000. There is nothing faster than IBrowse, but MUI-OWB gives a good display and isn't too slow. MUI OWB Video

My first advice to you is NEVER sell someone else equal or greater interest than yourself. At 50%, you may have legal problems making any decisions without your partner's agreement. In this case, you want to own a minimum of 55%. Some "investors" only have the intention of putting forth money as a way to take everything you have in the end.
Also,
If I were the investor, I would not finance a non-existent product. I would only invest to expand an existing product or business.
And, if I were the one looking for an investor, I would not deal with anyone who does not already have the money ready. (liquid financial account)

Thanks for starting this thread. I always welcome an opportunity to say thanks to ACube and Hyperion. It was great to play with a new Amiga when I got my Sam440, and even better with my Sam460.

The X1000 does not have complete drivers, and the Operating System revision for the X1000 is still considered as beta until OS4.2 is released.
I use both the X1000 and the 500, and it is my opinion you should get the X1000. The performance speed is much faster, and the expansion slots allow for cards which negate the need for the on-board drivers until those are complete.
If I had it my way, I would have an X-1000 in a MicroATX form, but I just prefer smaller systems. :)
AmigaOne X1000 Advantage: Much faster Advantage: Plenty of expansion
AmigaOne 500 (Sam460) Advantage: Lower cost Advantage: Small Advantage: More drivers completed
