Great article, would be awesome with some pics of the card installed...

Your wish is my command I originally didn't add more pictures because I thought they weren't good enough, but now that you say it I think they might do. I have updated the article accordingly.

And thanks for reading!

Re: Introducing the Rear Window blog

@all

Following an unsuccessful WordPress update which rendered my blogsite unusable, I've finally decided to move the Rear Window blog to Ko-fi. I've been contemplating this for some time because having a blogsite and a Ko-fi page, I was basically doing the same thing in two places. The address www.rearwindow.cz is still functional but it now redirects to the Ko-fi page.

I apologize to those who were used to viewing the blog in their Amiga browser, which now will likely be a painful experience with Ko-fi. However, apart from duplicating my work, I could no longer deal with keeping things "Amiga-compatible" in WordPress. It's just too much hassle. Ko-fi is smartphone-friendly, so I'm sure there's still a way to view my blog posts if you're interested.

This being said, I'd like to add that I have just published a new blog article, which describes my story and experience with Rabbit Hole Computing's PCI SATA card in my AmigaOne X5000. I hope you'll enjoy the reading.

I think that a simple gadget such as String should not need a RefreshSetGadgetAttrs() on setting a trivial attribute like GA_Disabled. If it does it would make sense to revisit the source code and make the behaviour consistent with Button, CheckBox and other primitives.

Thanks for the update!

I wonder if it would be possible to distribute the program with source code so that interested people could learn from it. Warp3D Nova is an important development but it isn't getting enough programmer attention/use to fully realize its potential. Hans' tutorial book is a great primer but real-life source code is scarce, so it would be very welcome.

I don't own an A1222 and I don't play games very much, but I've been Huno's bronze-level supporter for over a year now. It would make sense that gamers wanting to give meaningful support to Huno's efforts subscribe at one of the available tiers.

Plus, the MemGuard author says explicitly in the docs that the OS4 memory system keeps evolving, so it probably doesn't take much to break this kind of tool after a kernel change.

change all CA_ functions to RA_

Technically these are macros, and they wrap around respective IDoMethod() calls that invoke the classes' methods. I personally prefer to call the methods directly.

Quote:
link to reaction.lib not classact.lib

No, reaction.lib is no longer used! Most of its functions have been incorporated in the relevant classes.

Quote:
change all CLASSACT_ enums to REACTION_

Not sure what enums you mean, but possibly yes.

One other difference is that you don't need to call the various _GetClass() functions to obtain the class pointer.

I suggest you do read the docs linked above, it will get you on track.
