Re: How to reboot ?

Just popping in

@joerg @Hypex & everybody in this thread.

Thanks for the additional reboot info.

It is very much appreciated.

Trying various key combos myself.

I think this is the hard reboot option.

It seem to respond to the key prompts better than the soft reboot option.

It is a WIFI usb receiver Logitec Waves Windows/MAC ergonomics keyboard.

I tried holding the keys in sequence below.

1. Left CTRL
2. Left ALT
3. Right CTRL.
Then
4. Right ALT.

The A1222+ reboots with an A-EON splash screen soon after and it then boots into Amiga OS 4.1 fine.

The soft reboot:

1. Left CTRL.
2. Left ALT.
3. Right ALT.

The monitor goes black, it remains black, I can see the monitor is refreshed but it not capturing the video signal from the GPU, it just remains black and I have to power off and on the A1222+ to get a display again.

For now I will stick to the hard reboot option and hopefully saves eveyone's new A1222+ front chassis power button from repeated use.

Hi All,

Sorry not to hijack the post onto a different topic but a similar query.

I have the A1222+ system, sometimes it can completely lock up and I use the power button to power off and on the system to get it back into a responsive state.

I understand on the amiga classic you would use the Left CTRL, and the 2x amiga keys to reboot, the classic amiga.

However using a Windows keyboard, I understand, it is CTRL, left Alt and right Alt to reboot the A1222+ system.

But it does not always work, when the system completely locks up, it does not respond to those above keys, though I am using a wireless keyboard, could it maybe to do with that being unable to respond?

If I used a wired keyboard instead, you shoud not get that problem, it should be able to reboot the A1222+ regardless?

Just a small update.

I thought I try another approach to getting my files transferred over from my NAS to my A1222+ and vice-versa.

I enabled simple FTP access by enabling FTP services on my NAS using port 20 or 21.

I downloaded pFTP from OS4 depot and it worked.

I appreciate all the feedback follks, I am still learning how to use the A1222+.

Trying to get Netsurf working, it has 2x problems, it needs a guigfx.library and it seem to think its not connected to the internet?

However I will create a new thread for that rather than causing a divergent topic to the original topic of this thread.

@dfstudios

Thank you for your reply and I do hope you recover soon.

I have connected my A1222+ through an ethernet based wifi repeater.

Then its connects to my home broadband router wirelessly to allow my A1222+ connected to the internet.

Works fine with no issues so far.

My Synology NAS connects to my broaband router directly to its 1 of 4 ethernet ports.

All devices are auto DHCP.

I can access my NAS via Oddyssey web-browser fine.

Question:Do you recokon I should try SMB on a direct Ethernet connection to 2 of 4 ports on my broadband router instead?

BTW, I like the PowerReboot tool you have created, it really handy to save at the dock instead of having to go to the workbench menu.

Many thanks.

@Hypex

Thanks for the reply.

I was able to re-name the SMB file.

My Amiga OS can boot normally now.

I can still use HTTP to access my NAS for now.

I will try another attempt to get SMB working later.

It all part of the fun learning how to break things and try to repair it yourself.

Ok, new update.

A reboot cause the same Guru mediation requester pop up again as explained in my previous post.

I tried the kill button option, no effect.

Another reboot, tried click More button and other options appeared.

I choose ignore DSI Error button.

That allowed me to get into workbench fully.

Another requester pop up message appeared.

"SMB argument is missing"?

Any other ideas? Thank you.

@nbache and everyone.

Thank you for your replies.

I manually re-typed the info again in the SMB file.

Upon rebooting the A1222+.

I get this requester pop up.

Guru Meditation 8000003
Task 0x6c2ba0c0
("SMB/smb2-handler 53.7")
generated an error of type DSI (Data Storage Interrupt)
on address 0x01a78d34.
Redzone was not damaged.
Stackpoint is inside bounds.

It looks like its completely borked my workbench.

It a complete white screen.

There is a workbench screen title bar at the top.

But right clicking does nothing.

Holding left click and dragging down can bring the workbench down with a black background.

Nothing else is happening, it appears to be stuck with just a complete empty white screen and no further.

Will try a reboot and report back.

Any other ideas, thank you.

@dfstudios

Thanks for sharing your SMB info, it very much appreciated.

I am new to Amiga OS 4.1 and A1222+, I am just getting my bearings.

I tried to replicate the SMB setup you provided in the previous post as close as possible but I have a problem.

I too have a Synology NAS 212J.

-- Selected novice install of SMB2 handler.
-- It installed fine without errors.
-- I duplicated the PAR file from the DEVS/DOSDrives.
-- I rename PAR to SMB.
-- I open the SMB file via notepad.
-- I deleted previous PAR info and pasted below:

Handler = L:smb2-handler
StackSize = 65536
Priority = 5
GlobVec = -1

-- Save SMB file.
-- I right click, click information on the SMB file.
-- Then click icon tab, then under tooltypes:

ACTIVATE=1

-- Save the SMB file.
-- Then went to the S Drawer.
-- Right click to edit Network Startup file with this below:

; $VER: Network-Startup 53.2 (01.06.2011)

AddNetInterface QUIET DEVS:NetInterfaces/~(#?.info)

; Add below this line applications that need a running network

;BEGIN Mount NAS Drive
C:Mount SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers/SMB2 STARTUP smb://Synology/home VOLUME = "BoabsterBkup" USER = "Boabster" PASSWORD = "DummyPassword"
;END Mount NAS Drive

-- Save the file.
-- Rebooted A1222+.
-- Upon Amiga OS 4.1 startup.
-- I get this error msg requester on-screen with just an OK button below:

"Handler is not a valid keyword.
File SMB, Line 1, Column 1."

Any ideas where I gone wrong here?
Many thanks for feedback and its appreciated.

@eliyahu

Thank you for your reply and feedback.

Will do, I do have a Netgear Ethernet to Wifi bridge lying about.

I will try that soon.

In regards to the loud ticking sound.

I did chatted to AAA team earlier on the day.

Its was initially fan 2 on the GPU was causing the noise.

But then I realize I had the unit upside down.

The loud ticking noise stopped.

Whoops

Hi All,

My A1222+ has just arrived.

All appears to be well.

There is a ticking noise coming from the unit.

Its fairly loud, has anyone had this before upon receiving the A1222+?

I suspect possibly something obstructing the fan?

Will check in a moment.

Additional question, in regards to Wifi, is there any compatible wifi USB/PCIe for Amiga OS 4.1 are you aware of?

Thank you.

Hello everybody,

I just wanted to say hello and I am expecting a complete A1222 plus system this Monday

I found this forum and I take it this is the place for guides, info and support on Amiga OS 4.1?

I saw a lot of the info on this forum helpful in understanding Amiga OS 4.1 and A1222 plus system.

I will see I can get pictures uploaded once the package arrives on Monday.

I appreciate this link: http://eliyahu.org/tabor/ is really useful and I can’t wait to get stuck into the new A1222 plus system and trying Amiga OS 4.1.
