Re: My AmigaOne X5000 twins - I need some help and advice.

If it's been thrown abuot a generally abused in transit it could be that the video card has become partially unseated. Best bet is to open the case, have a look inside and make sure nothing has come loose.

There are no 3D drivers for the Radeon HD5450.

@MamePPCA1

At the time Doom 3 was released video card sizes were 64, 128 or 256MB so a more modern card with 2GB should not have a problem with the VRAM requirements of the game. What matters is that the card is supported by Warp 3D Nova.

Radeon HD 77xx-79xx series graphics card (excluding the Radeon HD 7790)
Radeon HD R7 240/240D
Radeon HD R7 250E/250/250X/265
Radeon HD R9 270/270X/280/280X
Radeon RX 460/470/480/540/550/560D/560/570/580

It also requires Enhancer 2.2 for the latest drivers so at the moment only A-EON developers and beta testers can run the game. Anyone else has to wait for the public release before they can beta test the game.

Warp3D Nova compatible card so Radeon Si or Polaris cards. Older cards like like 5450 are not supported.

Since you have an X5000 Radeon RX550 - RX580 cards are the best option for you.

How do I know I have or not at all EGL_Wrap.library,Opengles 2.0 and Warp3D NOVA?

Your signature says you have an AmigaOne XE. The required Radeon SI/Polaris video cards don't work with the XE. You need an X1000, X5000 or a Sam460 to be able run this game.

The exacutable is registered to users for beta testing purposes and no money is required.

Re: What cases for the new ACube 460
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@pjs

Your current case is unsuitable. It is designed for ITX motherboards with the option of dual slot video card. You won't able to get a riser card that turns the Sam460 x16 slot into 2 slots and even if you could you'd likelyrun into mechanical problems fitting a card into the bottom slot.

If you want a slim case you'll need to get a low profile Micro ATX case.

Link

Having done a quick search there does seem to be a few places still selling low profile Radeon RX550 & RX560 cards which should come with a low profile bracket and it should be fairly easy to get low profile sound cards ans SATA controllers.

A suitbale video card would be something like this.

@kas1e

Remember the new revized Sam460 introduces an area of deadspace between the PCIe x16 slot and the PCI slot meaning you don't need any special solutions when fitting a double slot video card. The case you used for the regular Sam460 also wouldn't be suitable for the new board.

@pjs

like sailor said any case with 4 slots will do but avoid low profile cases since it will limit your choice when it comes to video cards.

@khayoz

Something like Scorpion for OS4 would be better for people with no programming experience who just want to focus on level design and gameplay.

Maybe it's something A-EON should look into making since it would open up the potential to a lot of original games and remakes for OS4.

Seems like about 80% of 68k games in development or recently released are made using Scorpion. It'd be nice to have something similar for OS4.

"The following is the source code to Wipeout by Psygnosis, a futuristic racing game set in 2052, which ended up as a launch title for the PlayStation in Europe! It includes the source to both the original PSX game as well as it’s Windows port. Please note that it is currently unknown if these sources are fully buildable."

@amigakit

I understand that driver development is costly but it wasn't made clear during Amiwest that an additional purchase was required to actually use the VA driver for SI cards.

Resized Image

So far I've spent well over £200 on Radeon drivers and Enhancer packs for just 1 system. Something drastic clearly needs to be done to expand the user base so that costs to the individual user can be lowered significantly. Making 100 A1222+ boards for pre-order customers and maybe some later clearly isn't going to cut it.

A collaboration with Elbox to make Mediator style OS4 compatible hardware should also be seriously considered since a lot of people seem to be prepared to spend considerable amounts upgrading their classic hardware in some way or another.

How about people who bought DVPlayer V54 on the promise of a Radeon SI VA driver. Will they have to make another purchase to get this functionality?

It won't happen for this reason.

Providing the source code to a third party... this is a thing that at the moment is a bit unfeasible, it's a long story but it has to do with my current work, related to a deal with a professional simulator developer company, and AVC, the car physics library the VGP3 engine is based upon.

Don't waste money on hardware just for one port.

If the game was availble for €25 to buy it would most likely easily sell more than 100 copies. In that context an X5000 in exchange for a free download doesn't sound like a bad deal. The bigger concern for most people is that he can't guatantee that he can spend much time on it.

if it is SDL2 and written with portability in mind, then you better just got sources of GPV3 and I can port it for free. You can be sure if anyone says you from the beginning about no-time/spare-time/etc you can be sure nothing will be done.

We have nothing to lose asking and I'd already mentioned you as someone experience in porting software to OS4 during our correspondance. He'd probably want you to sign some kind agreement since the engine is continuosly developed and not some legacy code from a decade ago and he has previously licensed it to third parties.

Quote:
alternatively if you can drop me his mail i may try to write him with an offer to port it

I'll PM you.

Maybe he will be ok with just 200-300$ as a bonus, and everyone won.

Another option could be for him to sell the completed OS4 port which would earn him more money and we wouldn't need to raise any money upfront.

The maybe is over whether it can be ported with little work not wether it can be ported at all. He previously delivered on VGP2 for MorphOS and the same offer was open to OS4 but nobody took the initiative to send hardware.

More reasonable would be used Sam of whatever hardware...

That depends on a Sam460 or X1000 being available on the second hand market. No other OS4 hardware is really suitable.
