Re: Qt beta

@Srtest

@alfkil

[First: What did you do to make it try and open volume "Stuff" as a file??]

Well, nothing. File browser treats AmigaOS SFS+FFS Volumes as files after I played with the Qt settings (only ticking/unticking mixed with font changes which is now DejaVu Sans 14 and prefs returned to everything native). It also doesn't matter whether I open new text or old the behaviour stays the same.

[Second: Did you change your filesystem, so the files "latestmonkey.txt" and "newfile.txt" should be unrecognizable??]

Everything can be reproduced disregarding those conditions.

[Third: The fontconfig error is also strange. Did you do as I suggested, namely try and erase the fontconfig cache files from sys:fonts/ ??]

I did so after your second suggestion unfortunately it has no effect here.

Maybe next step should be deleting Juffed and opening a new one.

@alfkil

Of course.

I'm adding a pic which shows: can't open any text file, can't browse.

I get the following bubble messages.

An update: after doing said experimentation with the prefs I now can't see anything amiga related with Juffed.

What I meant was regarding an affect on stuff that kinda lag or maybe are not working with an OS4 flow (the way a button "feels") so to speak or that have been reported here. Of course changing those settings have a visual and sometimes functional affect but I'm not always sure about better or worse. If it works well after all then I'll take it.

Well I updated for several files mosty about graphics and text (I'm pretty sure libpng has a positive affect on my system) - I added a pic of my shared object libs, as well as a dsi crashlog I'm getting from qcodeedit.

Re: Qt beta

Screengrab reacts better after lowering the font to 14.

Qpdfview now gives me the following message: unexpected tz val

Changing what you call native/non-native doesn't effect any Qt app I try as far as making it work better or worse. I thought disabling boopsi made some impact on screengrab but it was the smaller font.

* edit: now when I think about it the rendering of fonts regarding the Qpdfview distortion of fonts (kerning?) might be the answer - does it use a certain shared object library version? beacuse those have changed here and some I have put there myself (and softlinked) from various dev archives.

Re: Interested in learning OpenGL ES 2 or Warp3D Nova?

@ChrisH

"Really need a side-by-side comparison" is it always a technical difference? I mean when I watch graphics based on composition on A1 it always looks better to me. Another thing is I remember switching from a matrox card to newer 3D card a while back on another platform and noticing a reduction in IQ.

When comparing Warp3D to Composition in something like Wings Battlefield I prefer the latter while viewing blankers I prefer the OGL ones. Watching something similiar on the recent Nova also left me a bit ambivalent as far as IQ is concerned beacuse of smoother and better framerates on 3D and not only framerates because sometimes on other platforms you have microstuttering or frame times (which we rarely get on A1) as they call it nowdays which effect a dinamic impression. So I guess there is also a consideration of the still pic comparison and the fluid motion comparison.

A similiar thing happens to me when I visit forums like the ScummVM ones where they compare versions and talk about technical differences yet the Amiga versions always look much better to me

Well after most recent update I'm not sure which preferences are "native" - ticked or unticked?

From Screengrab:

"Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file

First line at startup and the following after operating functions like method of capture and save to browser.

Thanks man. It also still asks for assigns to "proc" and "usr" even after the 9.4 update.

Again about mt-32 emulation or via Timi - this is something that could really allow access to some classic stuff that came out after Commodore went on to companies heaven. Today is not about using an Amiga version or Dos version as why not have a great classic experience most people didn't have access to back in the day? Personally it is all about a Bloodnet-CD with midi.

Hi,

1.How can I get rid of this?

"Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file"

2. Any chance of fixing qpdfview? it distorts the text no matter the font on QT prefs.

3. Wasn't Banana bar a part of QT?

Thanks.

@Chris

Maybe the theme is the blame - even if so I'll remain with it as I'm just reporting. The question is how to get over it.

Edit: if it helps if I just add a couple of spaces at the end of the last word of a link then it adjusts correctly.

Another thing if I'm at it: with NetSurf 3.5 I was able to use a JS-less version of duckduckgo. Now with latest build I can't, and with this site http://www.gameboomers.com/ pictures and text doesn't match (that also might have been the case in 3.5).

@xenic

Downloaded from os4depot, made sure (I guess again) it's the os4 one - it works! thank you!

p.s.

I know it looks like I'm some kind of moron who uses libraries without a regard to their architecture but it is actually the opposite as I've done a lot of research on libraries and developments also because of trying to improve my OS3 emulation experience on the X1000, and came around all those pointers about the render library being worse then the older one (the newer one actually was in my LIBS library marked as old...) and that the older OS3 one works better. I don't remember I might actually use some OS3 stuff (like go fetch) that uses those libraries and from everything I've read I never came across a severe warning about using OS3 libraries. This is the first time something like this happened.

Now if only I could read Hebrew with it

Every build after 3504 from april gives me a DSI followed by a ISI. I'm adding the links to 2 logs from the latest build.

Re: NetSurf very unstable?

@ChrisH

Well you're right and you're not. If you use an unstable build it may introduce something that doesn't play well with a commodoty or something like I experienced in the past which then got fixed or improved. For what I can see I can divide Netsurf issues to two categories:
1. Interacting with/effected by other elements from other uses.
2. Severe slowdowns which can bring everthing to a halt.

Then you got something like Candy and such that belongs to both.
