@Spirantho
The sound is great when plug in to my Mac. The deck is an Accoustic Solutions SP132. It's probably bottom of the range but that's far better than you used to get with all-in-one music systems, etc. Proper S-shaped tone-arm, balanced, anti-skating, etc. It's got selectable USB or phono out.
It's certainly got better quality output than my hearing warrants!

@Spirantho
Just had a thought about what I'm trying to do here. It's all down to this isochronous data transfer. I guess I should have known that after a few threads on the subject not that long ago.
The irony is that I've got a lo-fi with a record deck, too(well, hi-fi is a bit wasted on my ears and my old records), so I guess I'll be using the headphone output from that into my soundcard.

Recording onto HD via USB

Anyone had any joy recording audio via the USB port?
I'm trying to record my vinyls (well, I am OLD Amigan) and of course I'd rather use my A1 than my Mac. There's a good bit of excellent software to do things to the recordings once you've got them, but how to get them onto the hard drive via the USB port?

@kvasir I just bought one from Nathan Cadwallen (amigamaniac)in Australia. If you have a look at his website, http://www.amigamaniac.com you'll find some info about it. I haven't tried mine yet as I'm rebuilding my A1200 (v e r y s l o w l y) and I aim to use it for that, although, as I am UK based, it's different conditions for me (PAL)

@Paul
You can ignore the drive init code. It isn't used. I ended up chasing my tail on that one some time back.
I had a similar problem with my IDE HD and finally wiped the whole disc and started over. Now works. Never had any experience with SATA, though

@Robert17 If you got your XE from Eyetech, you should have got the instructions with it. I think it gives you the header layout in them. See if this ( http://www.frontx.com/cpx108_2.html) helps any.

I've just got to add my voice to those in support of your efforts. OWB is absolutely the best browser on the Amiga just now. Added a small donation to show support

@tommo1975
Hi Tommo, Nice to be mentioned, although the half of a marquee that was the Amiga section was hardly mentioned(probably the biggest single computer section in the show) and no mention of ACubes 460ep and Steve Jones' Imica. I thought it was rather dismissive of the A1X1000 too. However, the weekend was brilliant, both the VCF and Bletchley Park itself were so interesting.

Your display at VCF2010 was really good and it was nice to see you guys again. If I can get a weekend pass (depends on her indoors) I might very well nip (well, trek) down from Dumfries and see you.

Also confirmed. Ran well, too.
And although it was only for a few moments on your way out, it was nice to meet you, Nils.

@Daniel
I have to say I wasn't previously a big Aros fan but since ClusterUK has been showcasing it with his Imica machines, it looks really really impressive.
He's put a chunk of cash into driver development for it, too, to improve it no end, and the three machines he brought with him to the show looked well cool.
Still primarily an OS4 fan, though.

The beta testers will be getting their boards by the end of summer and if the Rev2 boards test OK, Trevor estimates that shortly before Christmas we should be able to buy the X1000. Now I'm on the lookout for someone who'd like to buy me one for a Xmas prezzie!

I often have similar problems with my A1XE. Like you, I've checked (or replaced) the battery to no avail but sometimes it will then work again.
There was a recent thread, either here or at AW.net about a loose battery holder causing such problems - maybe worth a try!

@Jack
As far as I know, on a PPC Mac you have to run it under an X-Windows environment, so it doesn't run natively. It was with the move to X86 that it became native under Mac OSX

Aah! A thread started by Helgis! About time! We've been wondering where you've been. You've been hoping for a new Amiga for ages, along with the rest of us, and when it's been announced, you've been suspiciously silent for days! Welcome back to the fray!!!
