Yes, I am aware of that.

My results are with an AmigaONE X1000 with the official OS4.1 Update 5 (update 2).

However, I can also confirm similar reults with the latest betatest files.

OK, switched my A1-X1000 back on and now TW RC2 is running fine on my FFS partition. Go figure?

I think it is marginally slower compared to the SFS and JXFS partition versions but still very usable. Even bookmarks seem to work OK after I restored from an earlier version.

CPU usage varies between 5% and 100% depending on the TW activity, but generally hovers around 20-40%.The machine is overall more responsive.

Edit: This is a vanilla RC2 installation with NO file substitution.

Re: Timberwolf RC2 available

Just tested TW RC2 on my FFS boot partition. Unfortnately, it was totally unsuable. Extremely slow to start up (over 40 seconds), unreponsive with long periods of inactivity.

So, for me at least, it works fine on a SFS partion (with the 3 RC1 files as detailed above) and on a JXFS partition (with the bookmarks proviso).

OK - with the three files from RC1 installed (rather than the RC2 versions). TW RC2 works fine with bookmarks on an SFS partition.

However, as Thomas pointed out bookmarks do not work (properly) on a JXFS partition. However, I copied my user profile from the SFS TW installation to the JXFS TW installation and rebooted. I can nou use the bookmarks under JXFS, but I can't add new ones. I will now copy the new RC2 libsqlite files to the both installations and report back.

Upate: Re-installed with the 3 files replaced from RC1 and re-did the font-cache thingy. Bookmarks now working OK.

So far it seems very fast and stable on my A1-X1000. Will now install to a JXFS partition and check that.

What about bookmarks? Does that still work for you?

Works very well on my A1-X1000 with the 2 files replaced, but bookmarks no longer work. It's very fast and stable. I'm looking forward to the RC3 version.

I thought the last release was good but this one is even better. Appears very stable so far. Is definately now my browser of choice on the A1-X1000. Haven't tried it on my other machines yet.

Well done!

Can someone please do me a favour by looking up the reveiw score given by the Amiga Format reviewer in issue 109 published in April 1998. I need the info for an article I am writing (and don't have that issue in my collection and can find the information online).

Thanks

We didn't have a dog for a paw print so Paul Gentle's 2 year old son added his scrawl as well. There are other signed ties around but I believe this one has the most people from A-EON, Varisys and Hyperion Entertainment, plus of course the "scrawl"

Yes I installed Timberwolf to an SFS partition and applied the fc-cache command etc.

Incredibly fast on an AmigaOne X10000. Start-up now ~5 seconds.

Wow, what can I say. Now incredibly fast boot time on an AmigaONE X1000. Bookmarks even seem to work well now.

Well done. Another donation on the way.

@Magnetic

I'm also enjoying my Timberwolf experience.

You said that downloads worked OK for you. Is there anything special you had to do? When I click on a file to download in OS4depot, for example, nothing happens?

Re: Timberwolf!!!!

@Raziel

I was able to export my bookmarks from FireFox on my PC as an html file.

In Timberwolf, I opened 'Bookmarks/Show All Bookmarks' from the menu bar.

I then selected Import HTML form the 'Import and Backup' menu.I then shut-down Timberworf to make sure the new setting were saved. On starting up again all my bookmarks are available.

TrevorD

Edit: of course this assumes you use FireFox on another platform.
