Correct on both.

The Cyrus was announced to use the Freescale P5020 processor, or perhaps P5040, which use the Freescale e5500 processor core. That is 64bit, but does not have Altivec support. The newer e6500 core is 64bit and also does Altivec. This core is in the T4240, T4160, and T208x products. The P5020 is dual-core e5500, while the P5040 is quad-core e5500. The T1020 and T1040 are also e5500 cores, no Altivec.

The X1000/Nemo board uses the PA Semi processor. I forget the part name/number, but they only sold one before being borgified into Apple... PA16 or something like that. This processor is 64bit, and does Altivec. It is dual-core.

Depending on what you are doing, the Cyrus may or may not beat the X1000. If you are doing something that benefits heavily from Altivec, then X1000 may be your champion. If you are doing something that is not as suited to Altivec acceleration, but is heavily multithreaded, then the Cyrus might be able to win out. (Particularly if they do ship some Cyrus boards with P5040 quad-cores, dueling dual-cores may be a closer finish) That will be more of a sensible comparison after Amiga OS4.x ships multiprocessing support (SMP or whatever to actually run multiple threads).

wxWidgets 3.0 released (elsewhere of course)

Considering there is a longstanding bounty for wxWidgets port to AmigaOS 4.x at AmigaBounty, I thought I'd leave a note that the wx people have released version 3.0 today.

@Thematic

Why wouldn't it be legal? So long as he complies with tax laws and such where he lives, he should be fine. If I did this in USA, the money I receive would most likely be considered income of some form, and I would have to pay personal income tax on it, and I'd have to file as a self-employed business to get an expense deduction on the professional fees I'd be paying out. I don't know where he is or what tax or income laws there look like.

the one I bought from them was not flashed up to support WPA. Did that myself though. I may have ordered shortly before the WPA driver was released though, I don't remember. but it was quite old firmware in the card I received.

I believe the GUI stuff is what is missing from jamiga. so some base stuff is done, but zero GUI part of eclipse. probably quite a ways to get there. Something I'm hoping for too!

I've been using my 4.1 XE recently. If that ends up in storage then I'll be back onto 3.9 in WinUAE until we're moved into a new house. Not sure how long that could be as we have to sell ours first to have money to buy another... :/

What computer do you have? The Prism-II card does indeed need to be reflashed. I don't think AmigaKit-supplied cards were sold already reflashed in the past.

I have an AmigaOne XE G4 with DMA fix. I have a PC that I'm hoping to use for firmware updare to Prism card if I get a chance to do that.

No error messages, at least not at the end where I can see, but it also did nothing at all for the SDK/POSIX/bin link to SDK/C. So still not a functional backup. :(

Hmmm, LHA is not happy either.

*** LhA: Unable to open file `worka1:dev/SDK_53.13/POSIX/bin/BuildLanguageCT' for reading.

LhA Freeware version 2.8 (C) 2004 Sven Ottemann

My command line was:

lha a -3ra sdk_53.13.lha worka1:dev/SDK_53.13

Is it possible to copy or archive or something a link in AmigaOS?

I also had got DSI error, and will post crashlogs etc. when I can. I want to clean up and reinstall and see errors again before I post, as I may have some cross-contamination having both the amikit Prism wifi stuff as well as the Atheros wifi stuff installed and loaded in user-startup.

I'm using this miniPCI card via this desktop adaptor

(The Amikit Prism thing hasn't worked yet either, I presume I must find a PC to update firmware in the wifi card for WPA support)

You may be right, I finally got to have a look around, and these are the

SDK/POSIX/bin/ dir which if I double-click on in dopus4 takes me to SDK/C/. That sounds sortof like a link as I know them in Linux.

Would it be better to lha or something for my backup to retain the links?

Though I wish it worked here in dopus as it's convenient and I like it... And I plan to mangle my partitions to make room for Linux, so would rather avoid archives, and do moving around with simple copies so stuff is not packed up, I would lik eto stil lb eable to see and use things using assigns or something until they reach their final destination after Linux.

Anyone know how the ongoing Dopus Magellan port to OS4.x does with links??

Are there any special flags to lha to tell it to retain functional links when extracted later?

What version of Dopus4 are you using? There are 3 of the most recent versions at https://sourceforge.net/projects/diropus4/files/DirectoryOpus4-OS4/

In the latest version of Dopus4 the error message you are getting occurs when you attempt to copy a directory from an archive that is displayed in one of the listers. I think you can copy individual files from an archive but not a directory. Like the AmigaDOS "copy" command, links get copied as files so I don't think the problem is with links.

This is
Dopus 4.18.29 Jacek Rzeuski (C)1993-2006
dopus.library 22.40
compiled 2009/10/01 at time 00:19:03

And is the "extras" installation version as found on and installed by the OS4.1 update 1 boot/install CD.

I've never used links in AmigaOS myself, so I'm not sure what they would look like. I installed SDK 53.20 a few days ago, so I would imagine that would be intact and good regardless.

dopus4 copying = DOS error code 212 - object is not of required type ??

Hi All, anyone know what this means?

I am using Dopus4 as included on the OS4.1u1 install CD as an extra item, copying all contents of my Work: partition to a backup partition. I'm currently running OS4.1u6, but no AmiUpdates after that as I have not yet got wifi working. This is my AmigaOne-XE G4.

The error message titling this thread is in the top titlebar of the Dopus4 window just to the right side of the close window gadget.
DOS error code 212 - object is not of required type

The Directory Opus Request popup windiw says:
An error occured copying "bin"
DOS error code 212 - object is not of required type

As best as I can figure out, it seems to be attempting to copy the bin subdir of the SDK 53.20 install, but I cannot tell exactly which file it has issue with. This is very slow going copy, but I'll try to remember and see if I can figure out what is missing on the destination side later when all is finished.

I told Dopus to skip, and had to do this 3 or 4 times total with this same error. It's now continuing with copying, and for the moment is still somewhere in the SDK drawer. All of the error messages so far were withing the SDK/bin area.

---------
I've also seen this now also in the bin subdir of the older SDK 53.13 install.

AAARrrrrrrggggghhhhh!I just found the hidden Kickstart 4.1 animated floppy screen!

I set the keyboard helpkey setting and the uboot text color to green in the os4 uboot/nvram prefs program and rebooted. I don't think I changed any disk settings. Guess I need to pop the battery again.

:)

(I'm assuming all is well after clearing nvram and being more careful next time)
