Re: USB devices that work with OS4.1 Update 1
Just popping in
Just popping in

Apologies if this isnt the right place, but it seems as good as any:
I know VIA chipsets are preferred for USB in 4.1.1, but is this restricted ?
In essence, I'm looking at USB 2.0* PCI cards, and there are some cheap ones in Maplin at the mo...

*yeah yeah I know only usb 1 is supported at the mo, but 2.0 will be soon wont it ?

Installed the update, its bl00dy brilliant !
One gripe: I like the transparency, rounded corners and drop shadows, but it can make the response less than ideal.

To that end, I'd like to upgrade from my Radeon 7000VR (32MB RAM) to something a little better.

The question is: what is available that will do the job - what will the drivers currently support ?

It will be going into the AGP slot of the AmigaOne XE.

Just downloaded and installed the OWB 3.22 update - quite nice, except I get a niggly irritating DSI error pop up when the window has just been opened (with nowt in it).
If I continue program, it continues eventually.

Otherwise, a fine piece of work as ever - one thing I would like to see is a progress indication when downloading large files via the Download Linked File menu option.

I like the new search bar - fire-foxy !

I'm trying to add a workbench grab to albums, but Preview doesnt seem to work - having selected a file (1280x1024, 321KB - well within limits), only the text and links work - also the selected file reverts to (none).

I'm using the latest OWB version, 3.21 (14.12.2009)

If you are lloking for something that "should" be souported by OS4 maybe you can find something useful on this thread at AW.net

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... opic_id=27699&forum=33&15

The ideal solution is a combo card that use NEC usb and siil 3112/3114 chips but they tend to cost a lot.

EDIT:
I've found this card that should work with OS4 drivers at least on XE's:

http://www.koutech.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=377
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815201016

that card in the koutech link looks interesting - it supports USB 2.0 for instance - which begs the question: are we likely to be able to make use of USB 2.0 in the near(ish) future ?
My guess is no - although USB 1.1 is still possible with the OS4 USB stack, AFAICR. Still - would be an improvement on the USB on board XEs for some !

@thread

As ever, I'd buy one if it came out. course, it'd have to be faster than my A1XE...

Altivec would be a must, and I'd like 3D GFX too.

@Spirantho

Sorry mate - I appreciate the effort - given how much effort it is for me to find the time to even get NEAR my computer !

I'm trying it right this minute ... (TBH cant remember if I have tried it or not !!)

-edit-
By 'eck thats much better !
very stable - although it does sometimes go green if I move the mouse of the window.
I'll try to get some grabs up...

-edit2-
...which of course wont work as SGrab doesnt deal with overlays...!

I`ve tried your earlier versions which i have had success in getting a picture so i was just trying RF output as i have no otherway to try a freeview box.
I see your saying composite is the only way the newer version are working.
This was on 0.8.
I will try 0.10 next.
I`ll have to dig out the Dreamcast to try composite out.

I'm using a speccy 128

@Spirantho

The one in this thread, so probably 0.8, although I've just seen the thread for 0.10, I'll try that next.
yes you had mentioned about the tuner earlier, I'd just not been paying attention !

As for the drivers, there's probably something naughty in the Windows drivers, that Connexant arent telling us about, only the card developers.

Hmmm.. so not likely to see USB drivers soon then...!

@Spirantho

tried my speccy (128) via the composite - yes. see what you mean !
also tried my digibox's antenna booster through the RF - can't seem to tune it to a station - is the UHF channel still a parameter via the shell ? can AmiTV read tooltypes ?

a thought occurs to me - whats the difference between how tv cards work on the Amiga and Windows ? What are windows programmers doing there that is different to what you've done here ?

I like the seperating out into .library files - thats a good idea !

Might see if I can find a CM2338x based PCI card.

anyone tried a USB tv card on the Amiga ?

Kool and the Gang !

just had a quick blast of this - seems a lot more stable- retuning an empty RF socket doesnt lock the AmigaOne !

will have more of a play later.

I only didnt spot it before cos I've been viewing via MPlayerGui - I couldnt be arsed to re-link the gui with the test version I'd unarchived to RAM: so I opened a shell and did it manually. good job too, or I'd never've spotted it !
