Re: Odyssey 1.23 progress

@ Fab

To what do you refer that I refrain from commenting on? I merely stated I have the same issues as Kas1e to show that the issue he experiences are being experienced by other users.

With regards to it being a setup issue, how is this possible? I have been using it fine on my system for ages and just performed updates as you release them. I even deleted my Odyssey installation and installed from scratch, still the same result can't see what I am doing wrong?

@kas1e

I updated to version 1.23 in morphos and I can't full screen videos in youtube now either.

Only some videos will start to play in youtube now but in small screen not overlay full screen.

I have the same problem of random non playback in morphos, i tried your pennywise video and same issue just blank black screen. I get this issue on many videos in morphos on my Pegasos 2.

I hope you and Fab find a solution... Good luck!

@magnetic

Yeah I have no idea why they didn't make it a stand alone installer?

@ChrisH

Thanks for your summary, at the moment I am in no hurry as I already own a Pegasos 2 but I would like to use something a bit more powerful that supports newer versions of linux and more modern graphics cards. I know that the X1000 fits the requirements but I am willing to wait for Cyrus if it is going to be better.

So looks like Cyrus+ could be the machine to get considering how many mips it is delivering?

@tlosm

Well what we do know is that beta testers are testing multicore AmigaOS now with the new scheduler and Ssolie said it is working very well even now, and that was at Amiwest and sometime has now past between then and now.He also said Multicore needs to ship with Cyrus+ and that Cyrus+ was almost read during Amiwest speech, and if we go by Trevors blog they are nearly in the hands of beta testers as varysis showed a photo of them booting to AmigaOS.

Buying a pci radeon 9250 to satisfy my 3d requirements is no big deal. Galium sounds like it is not far away as most major hurdles have been jumped the Winsys component was all that was left according to Ssolies update at Amiwest also which is really exciting.

I wonder how many programs and to what extent AmigaOS takes advantage of the altivec engine?

@LyleHaze

Just a thought for you, if Cyrus+ is the pretty much the same as Nemo performance wise but Nemo having the PA Semi chip with altivec engine then what is the point of manufacturing Cyrus+ if this is the case?

Hi everyone,

This topic may have been discussed sorry if I have missed it, I am considering buying a Cyrus+ when they become available however I am confused about which one is more powerful.

Is the Cyrus+ more powerful than the X1000 or is the X1000 still the flagship model?

Thank you for your time.

Fairdinkem.

@ChrisH

Maybe they could use this to enhance the version they are porting to AmigaOS to give us a flash compatibility not yet experienced on Amiga?

@328gts

Yeah just think how good it would be if it was hardware accelerated, updated to the latest build with full html5 support and able to support a pluggin for flash?

In its current state on my Pegasos 2 it is usable but the software rendering really slows it down, I hope Ssolie is able to have the crew bring us an update quickly.

I believe Steven said that he will build up an team at Amiwest to speed up TW development

Did he? I didn't read any (even unofficial) mention of that.

Yes Ssolie did mention it in a thread and also refers to the said group of programers with invitation to apply to join the group by application to be included in the team in this thread - Ssolie's post #28
