A very fine line indeed. Yet the difference won't matter if they don't meet their stated intentions.

OK, once you put it that way, I agree. It's obvious just in the traffic of new members at a.org and aw.net in the past couple of weeks that there is still interest. More bad news at this point could end it once and for all for many though.

I hate to be the negitive nancy, but it is just an announcement of an announcement so far. When I can click on the BUY button and expect a package to arrive, I'll feel much better.
Well here's hoping....

At this point I think the one best thing they could do is hand the keys to OS over to Hyperion. Involving Hyperion is the only good thing I think they've done in years.

@GregS Quote: The town only has 85,000 people, so the multi-millions must refer the the centre's building It's a common practice for a minor league team. Set up a multi-use venue in a place out side of the big town to avoid higher rent, taxes and such. Kent is not far from the much larger Seattle (5.8 million) and the team is the "Seattle Thunderbirds". Here there is a minor league hockey team that actually plays in a similar building that is about 30miles away from downtown Atlanta. The town is called Duluth with a population of about 24,000. But the surrounding Atlanta metro area has about 8 million people they draw from. Kent I imagine is similar. Plaz

@ssolie Quote: Things are happening despite the perceived silence. Maybe, but that doesn't make the recent silence any less deafining. The legal gears must really be grinding behind the scenes around Hyperion and AI from the obvious silence in that quadrant. Cue the crickets... Plaz

@swoodall Quote: There are quite a lot of 9200s and 9250s out there without a full 128-bit memory interface. The indicator comes in the LE and SE editions of the cards. I've affectionately named these the LoserEdition and the StupidEdition. It's not an insult to the users of these cards, but to the fact they are both noticable slower 64 bit versions and not the 128 bit bus versions. The SE and LE designation holds true for Nivida cards too. I'm sure manufactures have some other cool definition, but I like mine better. Plaz

@Mikey_C Quote: (Why didn't I buy a 486?) Because it would be in a land fill today unlike your A1200 In 1992 I traded away my only PC at the time ( a top of the line 486) for my first Video Toaster. Probably the best deal I ever made. Still have the toaster, but I bet that 486 is dust. Plaz

Some folks would concider me a newbie. I didn't buy my first A500 with AdIDE and a 20meg HD add-ons until some time in 1988. I didn't even learn the Amiga existed until the winter of 1987. Ya know that awesome Commodore marketing maching getting the news out properly to the public and all.
Oh yeah, I recall I sold my C128 and peripherials to help cover the cost. Then a few years later picked up a C128D, and still have that around today.

@kvasir I think this is the clue.... Quote: Software included ? Matrox PowerDesk utilities for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP It looks like it uses microsoft based drivers/utils to work. Getting docs to do a Ami version might be tough. If OS4 development wasn't on such shaky ground, I might say it would be equally as task worthy to get multi gfx card/display support is OS4. Or does it have that already? I don't have an A1. Plaz

I think I'm about to try and sell some classic hardware. It's not been used in a while and I could use the cash for another project. At least one item will probably be of interest internationally. Does any one have any tips for payment/shipping/receiving over seas? I'm in the US. I've used paypal for years succesfully, but I don't know if that will be very useful if the buyer is in another country.

@Billsey
People are still trying to get over the Win98 to XP converstion and aren't keen on another lump of pain with a vista upgrage. "How many of my other apps are going to break this time?" On top of that, it doesn't seem to run great on systems under 2ghz with less than a gig of memory and a modern video card. Millions would have to buy a whole new computer just to run it. Then there's the DMR thing. Vista is going to be slow to catch on compared to other releases. ('Cept for maybe Millineum, or Microsoft MOM. Those were big stinkers too.)
