Re: RadeonHD V.5 driver

@K-L:
Frank looked into your videos and it seems that the pictures does not come fast enough and emotion synchronizes sound and video and then we get som stuttering.

The other players which runs does this not. And wen you look into the other videos from the other players than you can see that the images does not synchronize. Look into Minute 2:50, the video runs but the sound is ready for a while... A video with talking people should show you more details. So other players seems that they don´t care about matching sound and video together and they may seem more seamless but it does not make sense if a video later ready as the voice ;)

DV Player seems to have an aggressive frameskipping, in Emotion this function is only for software encoder because in real live a hardware accellerated system don´t need such stuff, it should play it smooth.

We can not do much here, the HW acceleration on the new RadeonHD drivers does not work well, i think. Emotion runs well on RX cards, RadeonHD Cards are fast enough to handle the videos (maybe we should enable it for HW acceleration too but it is a workaround which does not make a smooth video).

If he has time, frank will update Emotion to a never version of ffmpeg but it we don´t think that we can see much improvements.

Hello. Frank is looking into the Emotion issue. He want to make an update if he finds the time.

Anyway. It is hard to find issues which worked before installing new drivers or on RadeonRX Cards. We don´t make Drivers and the new RadeonHD drivers does not work well here too... And this makes it e bit harder to find real issues.

@Support and no answers from us: AmiStore does not work since 10 Years!!! We get the support questions but can not answer to it because there is no Email to answer! So maybe you should ask here the coders too what they have done. It is all a bunch of sh**t.

We only can answer to our Email ;) Nice...

I would be happy to pay for a RadeonBridge library (but if it is only available for a V54 system and not OS4 than i am out) ;)

The Problem ist not that we are not willing to pay. The problem is that we have threads full of discussions what we need, how we get it and what the hell it means ;)

Less is more. Simplyfy the process and Shops and also Devs have less problems (have we now be care of the different drivers when we develop something? The same stuff as we have now with Enhancer 2.2 which brings VA.library but crashes working software because of missing RadeonHD drivers?).

Simplify the process and the range of stupid versions that we understand what we get...

Don´t forget that we have to go a path wich works for our work we have to live from and Amiga related stuff.
It should work with a decent/realistic amount of optimization. Maybe it is not your goal, but we want to finish and release :)

Anyway. In our newer games we have much more polygons, we have much more objects and in Pyramid Quest we also use bones for manipulating the mesh to get smooth animations. This breaks the frame rate down. Some shader tweaking don´t brings us 60 frames instead of 6.

@Hans: Thanks for the explanation. I think we are all happy to read such deeper insights ;)

... Maybe i misundersund Matthew´s Email:

"You shouldn’t expect much more performance unless GART is implemented by Hyperion in the old graphics library. Hans has already added GART support in our drivers."

... So, it will never be faster than that we have now? We try our best but newer games never will work on our systems well. I hoped there is a bit "more" we can get ;)

@emeck: Thanks for playing our games. And Yes Pyramdi Quest has its roots in Montezuma´s Revenge. This was and is my favourite game on my Atari 130XE (my first computer ever!).

@K-L: We try. But from current perspective it is too much for our systems. We use much polygons and animations with bones which slows down our systems. We hoped for GART Support but it does not work. If we have time, we will reduce some objects and settings and hope to get it work in an acceptable way (performance + visuals). But Frank say it is a bigg problem ;)

COOL ;)

fight-balance in such games is Frank´s work. I never reached Level 26 ;) Swamp Defense 2 is the easyer TD and this is hard enough for me.

Yes the laser is a key to many maps. It can remove the smaller enemies and the bigger towers have time to hit the bigger enemies.

@Rob: Looks great. Our idea was to make more games based on similar technics. But often we drop it to make something new, because of fun. But it would be better to use some parts more than one time (mechanics or graphics). It is much work to start from scratch again and again ;) A Heli game is on our list, maybe we can use some Super Star Blast parts...

@AmigaOldskooler:
Yes, Super Star Blast is available on other platforms like Xbox One, Playstation, Nintendo Switch or Steam Windows. When we made the game we thought to bring the game to AmigaOS but time, money and technics stopped us. Currently we can spend more AmigaOS-Dev-Time again and drivers (Warp3DNova, OpenGLES etc.) are much mature now.

@tekmage : I will ask frank for a download. It should be available on github but i am not shure... There is some work to do (translation etc.) not final but time floats away ;)

We look into it and will post a link.

@afxgroup:
Here some info about the theme, i have now some links in the last comment but maybe the whole thread helps a bit.

https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=132734

I hope to get it finished and uploaded on official websites soon.

@kas1e: Thanks! We will try it. Frank has the information now and i hope he writes me back soon.

Re: Evo Theme

Because a question about the theme in another thread, here the links again:

www.amiboing.de/data/themes/evo/EVO.lha

Unpack it that all content is in : sys:Prefs/Presets/Themes/EVO

(it should unpack to sys/prefs/presets and there should be a Themes/Evo drawer if i remember right)

www.amiboing.de/data/themes/evo/EVO_MUI.lha

Mui adjustments to match Evo Theme. Within the archive you can see the needed structure. After all files are there, in MUI Prefs on top at "Settings" should be an EVO Entry.

And a first version of the dark theme of EVO:

@Rob: To be honest, I knew neither Transplant nor Seek&Destroy before starting development. But Frank, Super Star Blast is his Baby ;)

@kas1e: Thanks for the hint. I will send it to Frank (don´t know if he plays around with PowerPrefs. He did not mention it.

@Performance: There is a lot to do. The next step will be a setting page with some adjustment settings, so we can see how it performs on different devices. Currently we use some bump mapping in the rocks, Glow/bloom filter, light sources on missles and more which drops fps while playing with much objects. Here we want to make this setting screen where users can play around and find a setting to play better... or play around with effects ;)

A switch for the fps counter would als be nice, so we can play around with all settings, gfx cards and PowerSettings.

We will see how it performs when it is finished. When it is done, we try to make a similar silence release as with Mace TD, so can look how it works and have not as much support.
