Re: WxWidgets bounty status request
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@abalaban
Since the port of AE depends on this, and since some at AW lamented the lack of new music software (AE has been updated to version 5.2 on Windows 3 months ago) I think this is a pretty important matter for Amiga in general.
An updated Music authoring software can ultimately make or break AOS4 future reputation in this field, an WxWidget is pretty much mandatory for AE 5.2 (and future versions).

Please take kas1e suggesion and offer at heart, do it for and importan cause! :)

This type of thing could mean to the chipset part what jit means to the CPU part, much needed with ultra chipset intensive games.

Someone should definitively do it...

you mean adding this to E-UAE or directly inside AmigaOS so that it could use chipset depending apps directly?

"lie" is a big word, more like wishful thinking maybe, and...what if 20 months from now he turns out to be right?

@djrikki
In the end Hollywood is a commercial program that doesn't come with the OS but it's there, so why not advertise the commercial version of DVPlayer as well...(might play less video formats at the moment but is way more polished than mplayer...)

@Varthal
One annoying detail that should be fixed is that the background color is a very light grey. Of course if you play a movie matching the aspect ratio perfectly the background color doesn't show, but if you happen to play, say, a 2:35:1 movie on a 4:3 monitor or 16:10 monitor, everything that don't belong to the picture will be shown in (very) light grey.
Basically instead of black bars you get almost "whiteish" ones, which are really distracting...

Vsync would be cool :)

As for the crashes on exit, what do you think it could be that differentiate my experience from others? (I mean, shouldn't they happen to all users?)

@SoundSquare
it's just a fan made video made out of enthusiasm and sheer fun, not some broadcast television commercial, take it for what it is...

I wouldn't certainly rule out AOS4.x on X1000 being the fastest system to look up to, maybe not "per clock" but in general probably so.
Besides, you don't expect the lack of USB 2.0 or slow 3D to be there forever (or do you?)

I must be lucky then (or..am i using a different version? I use Mplayer summer edition from OS4 depot on SamFlex) here, although I don't use the gui launcher, mplayer never crashes on exit.
I use it very often, whatch a movie (even with clip down) and no matter if I close it manually or wait for the movie to finish (where it closes automatically) it never crashed here (ho wait, once it crashed because a manually reduced the video window to a tiny spot, it would seem there is no limit in the reduction department, and whe you get tooo small, it crashes).
I might complain about performance on hi-res videos, lack of vsync (DVplayer has it) but crashes on exit? Never happens here.

Anyway, Gnash is truly progressing at good pace, they are releasing major updates every 6 months now, people can use 0.8.9 with FireFox 4.0 (release notes of latest version below)

http://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=6759

so I think it would be great if someone with time could make a commitment in this regard, in order for us to use it too... (probably ver. 0.9.0 by the time TW comes out).

@Rigo
Yes I run the installer (saved in RamDisk after checking the option) and everything went fine (otherwise it said copystore was already running).

On a side not it detects an update to the ".rar xadmaster" but when it tries to download it, it hangs there forever at 0% (until you abort the download) every other download went perfectly fine.
What's causing it?

Re: Assigned project: 32Bit icon editor

@RNS-AMiGA-Club
There are those two floppy icons which are generally used to load and save (but do nothing at the moment), since you are using the icon filer uses as "go to parent" (the blue drawer with the rounded arrow) as load, what usage do you plan for the floppy icons?
Not that important if you add those tool-tips anyway.. (hint hint )

As for the rest, great to hear! I like all you proposed/informed us of

Re: Assigned project: 32Bit icon editor

Not too shy to talk

@RNS-AMiGA-Club
Thanks for the preview!

Here's my notes after trying it:
We definitively need tool-tips when you "mouse-over" the buttons, or maybe change the button graphics as people is accustomed to certain buttons to do certain things already.
For example the button Filer uses for "parent drawer" is used for loading at the moment (the floppies don't do anything at all instead).
Also the button that switches between the selected and unselected icon graphics isn't very explicative (a tool tip is needed there).

We need keyboard shortcuts, at least for undo,

Don't know what those arrow butons are for...(?)

At the moment you cannot save.

There is a 32colors palette at the bottom, but what if I want more slots? say, 64 or 128?

Finally, is it possible (or will it be possible) to load a second different bitmap, in order to use it as the "selected" version of the icon?

Anyway, coming along quite well keep up the great work!
