Something between very difficult and impossible. I think we have to wait for a
GTK wrapper library, which uses a AmigaOS native GUI.

Whow! Thank you very much! It makes me happy, that you like my work.
Hope, that my new packages will fulfill your expectations.

The main problem is this stange gc library mentionen above. The extensions / plugins are an other, but should be
solveable.

I hoped to release it this weekend, but I think it will be next weekend. Found some little issues and added a nice
tool to the package. Also I'm working on a documentation. And I need some more tests...
And a little vacation

Yes I saw this. I can't remember where the problem was. Some assumtions about
OS internal things were made and I think it needs ixemul. But you can have a look
at it if you like. This would solve the biggest problem for porting inkscape.

Yes, I mean the .so files. To be precise the functions of the dynamic link interface like dlopen(), dlsym() ...

> And what are you doing to make it work?

The only solution (for me) is to link the modules statically to the program binary. While porting imlib2 - a image library,
which uses dynamic linking for it's loaders and filters - I've found an easy way to handle this. I think I will use this method
to implement some other similar module techniques.

But there is also pipe() / fork(). If module support is implemented by using these functions, I have to reimplement it with
AmigaDOS functions (If possible).

@virgola

Had a look at inkscape some time ago. Unfortunalety it uses a library, that can't be ported to AmigaOS 4
(in my opinion): The boehm garbage collector library. After a look at the sources I must say, that this is
the badest hack I've ever seen - bah!

Sorry.

Had a look at the sources, but I couldn't find a GTK GUI, only a X11 GUI. It's version 20061220 downloaded at sourceforge.
Or is it the wrong program?

Amaya is working here without problems (Last published package). Please try to launch it from a shell to
see possible error messages.

@ikir

Please try my next package, but the I did not make much changes to the X server. If it still does not work,
you can contact me by mail.

Gaim needs GTK 2.10, but at the moment I only have GTK 2.6.9

But @all: Suggestions for ports are always welcome. But as I've said
above, it should depend on < GTK 2.6

For the first version of Abiword or Gimp I needed about one day, but a lot of the needed libs were already compiled.
In most cases the plugin system is not working because of the missing fork() or dynamic linking. This takes much longer
to port.
I only use my own compiled libs. I had a lot of problems with other libs, some crashed, some didn't
work together with Cygnix. On the other hand my libs mostly don't work without Cygnix. Because of this,
there are some issues in combination with the OS4 SDK.

A kind of that. I hope I can publish a fully functional program
