@LiveForIt I was excited to say the least when I stumbled across Pygames.... so I watched some videos on YouTube and some of the programming made sense to me... So I planned on exploring Python.... but.... I asked in a separate thread if anyone was using Pygames with Python on Amiga OS 4 and was told some changes in Amiga OS has made it where Pygames no longer works. So appears I am SOL on exploring that and using Pygames for simple games, at the moment. http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum ... hp?topic_id=7677&forum=25TJ

Can simple graphical games be made in Python without Pygame? Simple games I guess like one way scrolling games or easy shooting games? Or is that what Pygame is all about. Had watched a few Pygame videos on YouTube and the code looked and made sense to me, and I liked that. Thought I found a match to start learning simple game programming. TJ

Been exploring different programming languages that work in Amiga OS 4. I have already heard of Python and have a book. Know Python is usable in Amiga OS. How about Pygame?
I see back in 2010ish they ported it to Amiga OS 4. Is it still usable today?
Also curious to those programming in Python... what IDE are you using? Does Codebench work? What IDE options would I have?
Thanks TJ

I have asked a couple friends in IRC the same question but thought I would ask here too. I want to explore programming. I own only Next Gen Amigas. X5000 is my main system. Looking for a programming language and software kit that is easy to buy if still a valid product, or download if now public domain, but need to make sure it is well documented for a beginner.
Would like that the language is more english as that makes it easier for me to understand. Want it to have a software kit that has all I need to get started. A nice IDE would be nice.
Also, since I last programmed on a Mac like in 2005 using Applescript and XCode, I wonder if there is something in Amigaland that allows for easy way to create the user interface for an application I may make, kind of drag and drop and then tell the button what to do... kinda like Xcode suite allowed me to do.
Ultimately being able to make a very basic game, say a scrolling game or a small shoot M up, would be neat.
I know there is Python, Hollywood, and others.
Guessing Hollywood may be the easiest most complete way to start since it is still a current selling product, but open to other options.
Thanks TJ

What is the chipset on the card you received? That large chip on the board. If yours says emu10k1x-dbq it will not work. I also purchased one at eBay from the link on Hyperion (or was it a link on Amiga.org I forget) but the link was not for the right one.
Although I just looked at your picture and at least the driver is popping up in your sound prefs. It did not on mine. So maybe your card is bad or some setting issue?
You got farther than I. Only Filesave modes appeared on mine so never saw the card I guess.
Did you try booting direct from the Amiga OS X5K CD (which is a perfect clean OS to test from) and see if sound works?
Maybe your prefs are boogered up.
Regards

I agree, would like a A-Eon/AmigaKit/Hyperion/other to work on up to date "we pay for" web browsing.
For me, I would pay good money for a web program that is up to date and comes out with periodic updates.
A computer w/o more internet functionality will be used much less.

Although I only live about 1 hour away, prefer to spend Friday and Saturday night at the host hotel so I can enjoy everyone's company for more time. Plus less stress of driving back and forth. Like to drink beer so won't drive if that happens anyway.
So, anyone here attending Amiwest for sure but don't mind sharing a room? Makes things much cheaper.
I do snore.... as a heads-up, so if you are a lite sleeper and/or don't like earplugs, pass on my offer. LOL.
I normally bunk with Sundown and he is deaf so I had no qualms from him. hehehe
PM me if interested.

This happened to me.
Had a friend (Severin) that recommended I trash the Odyssey fonts folder and once I did that and restarted, it only did it the once and now no more.

@amigakit
Is credit card as of today because I tried multiple times yesterday using credit card button and after typing all my data, would say it failed.
That was with Odyssey and OWB.
Confirmed all data was accurate. Even tried putting dashes between the credit card #s spaced out 4 apiece between dashes.
So I went Paypal that worked fine.
Just curious.

I have said it before... would love to see A-Eon/AmigaKit finance and sell a good web browser with periodic updates, even if paid for along the way, for a great browser experience on Amiga NG.
This day and age, many of us live on and off the internet. My job requires it. Happy to pay for a good browser.

Just curious, with making a newer version of QT work on Amiga OS NG systems, what if any newer QT based apps will be expected to work for us?
Is there a newer better QT based Web Browser as an example? One that can offer us a better web experience? Say play youtube html videos within the browser at normal speeds?
Scribus DTP app? That is QT based. I see they have a Haiku version too.
Stuff like that I wonder?

@tonyw
Are there any 4 port SATA Controllers known to work with X5K?
Or are all 4 port these 3114 you say not to use?
My case has plenty of room so since my on-board SATA is using DVD and HDD, I would not mind 4 more internals.
Prefer to keep other OSes (loonix, future MorphOS, backup) on separate drives so 4 more after the 2 on-board would be nice.
Any advice would be sweet.
Thanks

I was supposed to get mine last December 9th but it still has not shipped yet from Amiga on The Lake. Little dis-appointed it did not ship but appears he ran out of mother-boards to build mine or something like that. Would have been nice to get it for Christmas but appears for me, that will not happen. ;-(
