@Snuffy

Unless you had success with ExtraInfo prior to the update, and it only stopped working after the update, your problem is probably with ExtraInfo, NOT the July OS4.0 Update.

Concerning ExtraInfo, you e-mailed me a screenshot with your problem, and I suggested that you try something and then get back to me (but you never did).

Again, this is probably a problem with ExtraInfo; and I would like to get it fixed for you; but we should not be using this forum topic to do it.

I hope Mason comes out with some brilliant designs to highlight some of those features.
It would also be great if Ken L. could get his hands on OS4 and apply his tallent in areas like this.

I really like the ability to have a collapsed bar mode; but is it possible to get the TuneNet skin to appear on other public sreens? That would be a great feature!

My point is that Hyperion is standing in the way of Amiga Inc. No they don't have all the rights to everything but that doesn't matter. Sell it all to Amiga Inc. and let them renegotiate third party contracts. Easy as that. The way it is now both sides are blocking each other and that just sucks

But do you really think that Amiga Inc. will continue to develop and enhance OS4? In know that they have some money, and they might invest a bit into the OS; but what happens if they do not get the return they are hoping for? I can see Amiga Inc. scrapping OS4 altogether. Of course, this would certainly be within their rights to do (after all, they are a business established for the purpose of making money).

My point, however, is this: Even though I think OS4 (and upward) can be made into a profitable business in the future (maybe a very distant future), in the short-term and mid-term we need a company and contributing developers who are willing to work for the love of the platform in spite of short-term losses, and be content waiting for the future to reap some long-term gains instead of dropping the project in the bin when the going gets tough. I just don't see the love and dedication in Amiga Inc. that will be required to bring about a successful future for our favorite OS.

@Mitch

I have not read the newest PDF (this week is busy for me) so I might be missing something; but if Amiga Inc. gets what it wants, and if the original contract still stands, wouldn't AI still need to produce a substantially improved OS (>4.0) within 6 months in order to retain any rights to OS4? And does anyone really think that they would do this? Hyperion could still regain total control, couldn't they?

@ScottCabit

Glad you got it working.
The reason why I did not include the custom hot-zone in the start-up script by default was that I wasn't sure how many people would want to use it. I hope the whole experience was not too frustrating for you.

@derfs

If I understand the argument correctly, Hyperion would only deliver the source code once the $25,000 "buy-in" option would be executed, which it never was (according to Hyperion).

@ScottCabit

Mixing files from an older version could certainly mess things up (unless they are just image files). If you want a way of finding the pixel location of your mouse, you can use the lens.docky ("Utilities/Dockies") and switch on the "show coordinates" option.

The size is up to you; but I like using 76x76 for mine.

BTW: If you download the "Png_Editing_Suite" from OS4 Depot, you can do quick and easy PNG + Alpha-Channel image-scaling with it.

Does this apply to every aspect of version 2.5, or only the custom hot-zones?

@ScottCabit

What you assumed about the start X and Y positions is correct.

Are you certain that you are actually "starting" your custom hot-zone? This can be done by double-clicking the "StartMLDHotZone" icon in the "Custom_HotZone" drawer. You can also add (or modify) a line in the included "WBStartUp_MLD_HZ" booting script (using a text editor) if you want your custom hot-zone to be activated at the time of startup.

Also note that the "Hot Zone Delay" option in the "HotZonePreferences" sets how long the mouse must remain motionless in the hot-zone before the Mac-Like Dock is launched.

@Snuffy

For any new programs that you want to launch, just drop the icon that you want to use into the Images/Normal drawer in whatever hot-zone you want it to be used in. The new image should be displayed automatically the next time the Mac-Like Dock for that hot-zone appears. Left-clicking the new icon will give you the option of selecting whatever file you want to be launched. If you later decide that you want the same icon to launch a different program, click the image with the RIGHT mouse button.

Let me know if any of this was unclear, or if I misunderstood what you were asking about.

@All

I just noticed some problems in the archive of Mac-Like Dock 2.4.
Anyway, there is now a new version (2.5) available on OS4 Depot. If you downloaded version 2.4 already, please discard it and replace it with the new one. Thanks.
