Re: WBStartup Arexx port or similar?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@Raziel

I donnot know, if I got you right. This is how I start Arexx Scripts from WBStartup:

1. Dos Script (e.g. "DOSSCR"), which starts an Arexx Script (e.g."ARSCR.rexx") gets called by WBStartup.

e.g. for "DOSSCR":

run rx Work-1:ARSCR.rexx

2. created Icon for "DOSSCR" :

Type: "Program"
Bits: set "Script" bit
start through shell

3. Then I call this one in WBStartup prefs

Hope this help, also hope, that I translated everything right, because I use a german WB.

Re: CruxPPC does not boot from HD on SAM ?

@Alex_C

If I remember it the right way:

If you create a say 30Gig ext2 partition plus a swap you should be fine. One thew ext2 partition bootflag has to be set + you need a folder called

/boot (right ? @elwood)

inside this folder you should have

1. the Kernelimage called uImage
2. menu.lst

(right ? @elwood)

For what I understood Crux should now be able to boot up (which it didn't in my case using 2.5a...)

If you want to have a dualboot setup, the amigabootpartition has to be somewhere before the ext2 partition.

@Alex_C

Well I am not sure, I installed Debian on the same HD / Partition Layout as Crux. Afterwards I just reformated partitions and kept bootflags, filesystem etc. - didn't work. I also installed Crux first and then Debian after formatig partition - Debian works/Crux doesn't.

I also tried dualboot with OS4.1 and Parthenope and used same Layout as for Debian. Debian worked fine, Crux didn't.
...

I also tried to install Debian on a blank HD no success....

Any success in booting Crux either with SLB or Parthenope ? Did you test CruxPPC 2.6 ?

if you copy the .font and .otag of the fonts i think they work just fine.
for bitmap fonts you can run fixfonts too.

No, they don't, thats what I did e.g. copied Arial.otag and Arial.font to fonts: (e.g. from Windows or in my case from OS4.1 beta) but could see them (the preview) in any fontrequester at all.... you have to use typemanager I just forgot....

O.k. solved... problem were the fonts I just copied from my old AOS4.1 Installation. Neither Workbench or any other program found the fonts. So I deleted all the fonts except Systemfonts (found on OS4.1. u 1 CD). Works fine, now. I forgot that you never should just copy fonts to fonts: always use the "typemanager"

OWB doesn't show fonts ? [solved]

Hi
I am using V.3.23 installed during OS4.1 u 1 installation.
No matter on which screen I open OWB, I cannot see any fonts, on the screen. Seems like they are transparent.
I copied a few GUI settings from OS4.1 beta SAM over, though, so did not test on "fresh setup". I did not copy anything from OWB 3.22 to SYS/Internet/OWB !!

Somebody an Idea

thanx

Just booted on SAM will release some screenshots on my site... be patient... coming soon

remember to unplug KVM, use mouse on lower port and KB on upper port of SAM, in UBoot choose DVD as bootdevice... otherwise I also get a black screen...

regards gerograph

O.k. here there are, made dropshadow in GuiPrefs a bit darker and sharper... I think does look best on lighter background.

O.k. just downloaded it again, and I can open it with unarc....

This time I used Opera 9.24 on my win machine. First download which failed was done by IBrowse...

I'll burn and boot afterwards....

greetings

Ah more news... just read on AW that IBrowse and Aweb donnot work, so use OWB.

Few questions on the update...

1. Is there an option to keep the old style Icons ? Or do I have to copy them back manually ?

2. Does CrossDos with USB Media work proberly now ?

@ancalimon

I donnot know if that helps, but I found a lot of threads where problems with Windows Vista were revealed. Even Linux machines had sambaproblems there.

Anyway, maybe AmigaNetCenter on Aminet might help (former Sambamatic soft..)

Is there any possibility to haver lighter colours on my Xerox colour Postscript Laserprinter ?

When printing under Windows, photos are printed perfectly with PS Driver, there is a Gammacorrection of 1.8 predefined.... I cannot see any possibilities to do that on AOS 4.1 ? On AOS 4.1 photos are to dark...
Can I change Devs:postscript_init.ps ?

BTW it is a Phaser 6180 MFP

thanx for help

CruxPPC does not boot from HD on SAM ?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi everybody,

I tried to install CruxPPC for SAM but I cannot boot after installation. For this I used the "Elwood" guide http://elwoodb.free.fr/articles/Sam440/cruxppc.html.
But I used ext2 instead of ext3 as filesystem for sda2.
Installation went smoth, but after reboot my SAM came up with parthenope saying:

"no menu.lst or kicklayout found...."

menu.lst was edited and is on sda2 !

I then booted with my Amiga OS 4.1 CD Rom to check with wether bootflag is on, and yes it was there... I then reeinstalled parthenope via AOS 4.1 no luck. I also installed AOS 4.1 and Debian Linux on a second part, to have a dual boot system... worked fine... I then booted with cruxppc, formated debian partition and installed crux there, no luck either...
Ah forgot, got the newest UBoot...

Hints are welcome, please keep in mind, that I am a newbie concerning linux..

Thanx

Re: Linux Debian and Sam440EP

@TrevorDick

This might be the solution/problem:

Quote:

Note that something has changed in the Debian mirrors a few months ago. This makes the installation freeze as you experienced when it checks for the mirrors.

After many tests by me and Faranheit, we reached this conclusion.

Unfortunately, there's no good solution to this.
We managed to get around it installing with the ethernet cable unplugged (or the network not configured).
It makes the install process skip reading the mirrors.

Then when the system is installed, you can add mirrors by hand in your sources.list and update your system.

Elwood pointed this one out BEFORE the release of Experimental GART enabled release !!! So might already been fixed with the new Experimental GART release.

Re: Linux Debian and Sam440EP

@Dwyloc

hm.... I have Debian and OS4.1 on my SAM dualbooting with parthenope (Elwood guide !!!), booting into OS 4.1 takes about 30 sec after selecting OS 4.1 in parthenope menu...
At the moment I am not !!! using the GART enabled Kernel/Debian its just the old, slow (scrolling etc), and still downloadable Version of Debian.

Read somewhere on AW that somebody heard of the same problem.
If my SAM comes back (its broken at the moment) I will also try to install GART Version... and might confirm...

But you did not test the Xerox MFP under Linux Debian PPC for scanning, did you ? Even if it is not realy needed because of scan to FTP... (what I did with my brother to Amiga BTW)

I am also looking to get a Xerox Phaser 6180MFP. Some questions:

1. Is Photoprint also to dark ? (compared to e.g. windows print out)

@All
2. Anybody using a All-In-One colour laser here ?
