Re: AmiDARK Engine Sources for sale
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Here is a basis of what I will probably do for the Bounty :

1. I request 2000€ to release the source code of the AmiDARK Engine. I consider this money more like a "kickstarter" to help me financially that will pay "time" to code more on the AmiDARK Engine.
2. The source code will be released under the MPL licence.
3. Requested by members of the Amiga community : I Will continue code on the AmiDARK Engine and be in some sort, at the head on choices concerning the development of the AmiDARK Engine and many things are already in "mind" to increase the performances and take benefit of our Amiga configuration.
4. If the Bounty reach 2500€, I will acquire a configuration for MorphOS and 1 MorphOS Licence.
5. If the bounty reach 5000€, I will acquire a X1000 computer ( priced at 2320€ at relec.ch and AmigaOS4.1 for X1000, and try to make support for X1000 custom chipsets as "additional plugins" using the current AmiDARK Engine plugin system.

Concerning changes mentioned on 3. Some will partially break compatibility with DarkBASIC Professional & DarkGDK from TheGameCreators but, they should increase the engine performances. Some others will be done to increase the engine compatibility with other Amiga OSes (like AROS and Maybe AmigaOS3.x Warp3D/Wazp3D/Mesa)

What do you think about this ?

Hans : Yes, it's what I've understood.

Correct me if I'm wrong :
With MPL :
- it obliges anyone who makes changes to the AmiDARK Engine to share those changes with the rest of us.
- They are not obliged to release the source code they are the author/owner (not AmiDARK Engine, their source code that uses the AmiDARK Engine)

If these 2 statements are corrects, I'll choose MPL.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

Elwood : I think this licence does not suit this case.
Under BSD, anyone can use "part of the source code" of the AmiDARK Engine outside of the AmiDARK Engine without saying "it came from the AmiDARK Engine"...
It cam make people uses part of the source code of the AmiDARK Engine for their need without using the whole AmiDARK Engine system.

@Salass00 :
Thank you for these details concerning LGPL
Personaly, I don't like the : "but to follow the license then you have to be able to provide the object files of your closed source program on request".
I think that someone that'll create a game using the AmiDARK Engine must not be obliged (on request) to give the object files of his source program.
Even if he uses the AmiDARK Engine that help him.
What he entirely create himself (outside of the AmiDARK Engine) is his own property.

More to this, like Hans said, it can be a problem for MorphOS & AROS and the objective is "also" to open the AmiDARK Engine to all AmigaOSes ... not only AmigaOS4.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

@Hans, Ikir :
Probably.
I'm thinking about the idea of a bounty but, as proposed on AW with these :
1. Release the entire engine source code and all stuffs needed
2. Remain in some sort, in the "direction" of the project (supervision) to be sure the project continue in the same direction as planed initially.

Will work on this this week-end if "moral" is enough good for.

@Antique : Nope ... the sam440Flex is not yet sold :(

AmiDARK Engine Sources for sale
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hello,

With the last message I've done some times ago announcing that I will stop development on Amiga during a "undefined time/duration" due to financial issues and the need to recenter to my family, I decided to make a complement.

I think it's really sad to see the AmiDARK Engine totally stopped and, I remind some peoples that asked me to "open the source to allow more developers to work on it".

So, here is the oportunity for this now. But, due to my personal situation, I cannot do this for Free.

So, I propose to : Sell the entire AmiDARK Engine sources :
- The full AmiDARK Engine source code ready to be compiled under AmiDEVCpp and under AmigaOS4 CodeBench.
- All the samples with "non copyrighted" materials (that I own the right of use, but not the right to resell them)
- The DarkBASIC Professional source code (and executable) of the tool to convert 3D models (compatibles with DarkBASIC Professional) in the current AmiDARK Engine 3D model file format.
- Concerning the domain www.amidark-engine.com I must check with the host if I can transfer it to another host or separate it from my main account but if I wan't transfer it, I will create special IDs to the owner to get access to the FTP to be able to update the website himself and when the domain will expire, I will not renew it. The new owner will have to buy it or transfer it.

Concerning this sale, it can be handled 2 ways.
1. I Resell everything to 1 person that will buy the sources(or the community will but it for him) and do what he want about it.
2. The community buy the engine with something like a bounty and the source code will then become "open source" so everyone can make it evolve.

The price will be estimated to something around 2000€/2500€.

AmiDARK

"Good bye"

Hi to all,

I am sending this message (some / much against the heart) but unfortunately it is sometimes necessary for our balance to take decisions that displease us .

Because of a lot of things that fell on the corner of our face for the past 5 years (difficulties, problems, health, etc.) and have repeatedly played against us, I have to rethink my way of " life" and "doing" .
Because of this , I 'm also a little forced to rethink my " time of relaxation and pleasure ."
Result , I stop activity for everything "Amiga" related .
It may be a "Goodbye" ... I do not know ...
But at today , just at 2 feets at the edge of the precipice, I am obliged to leave behind some things for me to focus on other because the balance of my family is involved (if it is not already too late )

Some events have played " against us" and even the family is unable to help us (unability or unwillingness ... for some it is one for others it is the other).

I do not know if one day I could go back , continue or finish AmiDARK Engine but , from the current perspective , I'd rather the idea to sell the rights on the source code ( including source code itself ) , if a person makes a rather "serious" offer ( not the kind which € 50 ... ) .

Moreover, someone made me a proposal on AW to buy my Sam440Flex . I hope this offer will be finalized. It does not will solve our problems, but it will help anyway.

My activity on the Amiga forums will be very small or close to 0 ... from now on ...
I wish you a good continuation .

Voila .
I just wanted to inform all respect for those who hoped in the AmiDARK Engine ... Anyway , you have the Antiriad Engine to create games for some Amiga OS ... Maybe for AmigaOS4 too, soonly?

sincerely,
AmiDARK

utri007 :
AmiDARK Engine is based on the same "commands" & "functions" that the ones available in DarkBASIC Professional.
If the source code do not use :
- additional plugins
- shaders
- terrain
I think it should be possible to port it to AmiDARK Engine.

Sell AmigaOS4.1 config Sam440Flex 800Mhz
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

As I said sooner with my last AmiDARK Engine announcement, I must see my current AmigaOS4.1 configuration.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this so, please ADMIN/MOD feel free to move it to the correct forum if needed.

Here is the configuration :
-Sam 440 Flex 800Mhz
- Mini-ATX (changed for the last alchimie X)
- 1Gbyte memory
- Radeon 9250 128MB RAM
- 1 HD Sata 160Go
- DVD writer
+ Logitech M210 wireless mouse & keyboard.
+ TrustMaster FireStorm Dual Power joystick controler
+ Original AmigaOS 4.1 boxed CD
The only problem this configuration encounter is that the support for the CR2032 backup battery is no more on the motherboard.. I don't know what happened but the support fell from the motherboard.
The AmigaNG work perfectly and I use a small tool to update the clock on AmigaOS 4.1 starting.

Price : 450€.
+ Post parcel price depend on where I must send the package.

I can add :
Sound Blaster Live! + 10€
2 HD IDE 160Go. + 10€ each

Kindest Regards,
AmiDARK

AmiDARK Engine 2D Release 0.9
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hi all,

Finally, I have fixed the 2 annoying bugs concerning 2D & 3D rendering I got from changing/improving the CORE of the AmiDARK Engine :
- Sometimes 2D disappear when 3D is used.
- Transparency flags does not display correctly and sometimes, 3D objects disappear.
But now, these 2 bugs are "past" :)

I can tell that the new build of the GDK is ready for release.

The major news available in this build are :
- The new render method using "display lists" is 100% done are working perfectly.
- Basic3D, Image & Sprites modules uses the new render method.
- The new system to integrate plugins in the AmiDARK Engine is ready and fully functional (already used by the 3 modules listed above).
- The new system to integrate plugins in startup/exit sequences if fully functional.
- Improved the main 3D engine (glMatrixes use optimisations) for faster results.

Here is the reasons why I don't release the package today :
1. I must finalize the archive :
- Compile the demonstrations samples.
- Add some more documentations.
- Check if the library compiles under AmigaOS4 (currently only tested on AmiDevCPP(PC)).
- Update the FXRaster system to work as a "plugin" of the AmiDARK Engine.
2. I will try to give a "pre-version" to Davide Palombo for the Amiga Pianeta Show this week-end so, if you want to see AmiDARK Engine demonstration running on AmigaOS4, he is the man to ask :) ( Thank you Davide Palombo )

So, the official version and *private* versions will be released next week.

Kindest Regards,
AmiDARK

Re: AmiDARK Engine & Alchimie X
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I have now fixed the issue with the lighting system.
It works perfectly.

The FX2D plugin was removed of the CORE because, it will now have to be added as a "compliant" plugin. It will take the SLOT #1 in the plugin system.
What does that mean ?
That mean that an "official" plugin that will be developed for the AmiDARK Engine will required to have a specific slot to avoid "plugins overlap"...

I think I will release a 0.9 version soonly without the plugin added (because it requires to makes changes in the main core *display refresh system* and to add few internal functions to add special functions in the *display refresh process*.

AmiDARK
