Re: Porting to AmigaOS4 thread

@Raziel

Are you running this on the AmigaOne machine? I presume you are. Are you running "./configure" through SH?

I would have expected that if you set the CFLAGS and LIB variables then PKGCONFIG would not be needed.

You can hack that configure script and add something like
set -x

Above the first line that you posted above (do not add it at the top. Just the line _before_ the first line you posted. This will print out each line that is being executed by the interpreter with expansion of variables.

Quite difficult to help without some reproducible steps; i.e. can you tell me which project this is or provide it and then I can attempt to reproduce.

Can you create a video or guide on debugging the MCU when you get the cable?

Just definitely double check that your file, named "kicklayout" in that directory, named "kickstart", somewhere contains the line:

Thanks all,

Yes, these are all good. I am just looking for one that is known working and ideally not too expensive.

If you are interested in selling, then can you PM. Thanks.

Does anyone have a high end SI card for my X1000 that actually works? I am not sure I want to risk another purchase from eBay!

Thanks.

@kas1e

Just wanted to say: thank you for the guide.

I got a little lost at some point and I guess I never really needed to play Warp3D stuff except on rare occasions.

It is useful for development/porting to test stuff and it supports the development anyway, so I bought it - even though I bought the SI driver a long time ago: fair enough.

I wonder if we should consider pinning these threads/guides somehow.

@kas1e

I used warpsnes and found it was the best one.

For mednafen, there are instructions that you need to set the period configuration to 100000 to correct the sound issue. Should be in the readme.

The configuration file:

The default configuration file can be usedbut do the following:
Change "cd.image_memcache" to value "1" (Optionalbut advised)
Change "sound.period_time" to value "100000" (Definitely)
Change "video.glvsync" to value "0" (Optionalbut may help)
Change "video.blit_timesync" to value "0" (Optionalbut may help)

If that helps at all.

But, I think without some hardware modification or some flashing, the Right Amiga key on these keyboards is as dead as the Dodo.

Maybe I will do something with my soldering iron, soon, but ever since swapping Alt with A keys, I have never had a problem.

Right. Just for the record, it's Matthew's script with some commented out stuff.

But I am sure he would be interested in the cause of the issue for the future.

Re: AmigaOS port of libsmb2

Hi,

I wonder why it is raised through Enhancer? I did not know there was a connection.

---

I also wonder if this is anything to do with the ABCSH getting confused over the use of redirection character(s) being used rather than a bug in smb2fs. It would be interesting to see what string is _really_ being sent through smb2fs as the new name; whether those characters should be escaped...

Re: Maintainer(s) for libsdl2_* libraries for AOS4

@davec555

The issue is that on most other platforms the libraries are Shared Objects. In the case of Linux, SO files. SO files themselves automatically load in their other dependent SO files. For static libraries this is not the case. That is why for Amiga we often need to have a list of explicit "-l" options.

In your case you are missing "-lfreetype" that should go after - at least - "-lSDL2_ttf".

Re: Command to see CFE / UBOOT variables (SOLVED)

`NVGetVar' just fetches the settings from NVRAM.

In order to change the settings you would have to boot into CFE and actually change and then save (do not forget to save) the settings.

I do not believe you can do this from within AmigaOS4 - but would be happy to be told otherwise!

SDL2 -> SDL3 (SOLVED)
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

@Capehill

I see that in https://github.com/AmigaPorts/SDL-2.0 you have now modified things so that a build will generate SDL3 names. Are you sure this is the best approach and will not cause confusion? Why not create https://github.com/AmigaPorts/SDL-3.0 ?

Many things to comes wrt. porting will still use SDL2, it means that people will have to clone your branch and checkout a previous commit ID to get the latest and greatest SDL2 libraries.

I just thought I would raise this now.

Thanks for all your work and all those involved in making SDL possible for Amiga in the first place!

===

EDIT

===

Actually, I notice that the change to SDL3 names happened in:
commit 25239ae8c89da2412032722a4c0e2418af9c289c
Merge

Author

Date:   Sat Dec 3 20:07:34 2022 +0200

    Merge branch
'main' of https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL into libsdl-org-main

This means that you (@capehill) did nothing more than merge in their changes. I am surprised they are not creating a separate branch though. I guess there is a reason!

===

EDIT

===

Woah, I am really confusing myself.

I think SDL2 is specifically on your branch: "SDL2". "main" is just SDL3 since December last year.

Understood, thanks.
