Now that the graphics are complete we need your help. What are your favorite platform games on Amiga? We are busy architecting the gameplay of our new platform game and want to get it right. We have been playing a lot of old Amiga platform games like Shadow of the Beast 1-3, Magic Pockets, Gods, McDonaldland and even ones we have never heard of before like Sword & WolfChild. Here are some recent screenshots if you want to see the progress. http://www.discreetfx.com/HotEnoughToPlayWith.html

Amiga coder wanted for contract work

I’m looking to hire an AmigaOS 4 coder this year for some contract work. The job is porting the open source programming language Swift to AmigaOS. This is an open source project so the pay is not massive. Still it’s paid work for Amiga programming work which I think is rare in this community I believe. Please ping me if interested and be prepared to show past work examples please.

Since the port was never completed and buggy why not just update the port from the same source tree that Timberwolf is based on? That would be better than the buggy version that still exists today. Other Amiga like operating systems like MorphOS are getting more feature rich and complete web browsers. We have the fastest and most expensive AmigaOS 4.1 machine available (X5000) but it does not have a modern web browser. See the problem here?

It sounds like no one is porting the open source Rust language to OS 4.1. That’s a bummer.

Any chance Timberwolf will get an update anytime soon? It just crashes when I try to boot it on my X5000. On MorphOS their new web browser is really nice and functions well. It would be nice to see this same type of functionality on OS 4.1.

I’m posting a question for a friend of mine about SCSI chipsets & OS 4.
“Please post this question: “What SCSI chipsets have driver support under Amiga OS4 for use with an X5000 motherboard. The intent is to use a Jazz/Zip drive attached to a SCSI controller.” Sweet and simple. Hardware compatibility lists for AOS41 are nowhere I can find. Thanks Boyd”

Just a minor issue with the hosting company we use. It should be resolved shortly. If the original poster had been truly interested he could have just sent us an e-mail or PM.

@ferrels
My role today is more of a Project Manager/CEO. I don't do any coding, software projects are assigned to contractors and that has come back to bit me in the ass sometimes. I want to learn to be a coder and think it will help me long term. Today when a project goes off track I feel kind of powerless since I can't code to get it back on track or even understand what work has been done by doing a code review. This puts me in an uncomfortable position I don't want to be in.

I've been an Amiga user for so many years. I bought the faithful copy of AmigaWorld #1, it seems like yesterday. I've done about all I can do. Even became an Amiga Video Toaster developer using GUI/FX building tools. Now I'm ready for my final Amiga frontier. I don't know why I did not do it sooner. I want to learn Amiga programming in C. I'm ready for the long learning journey and have some great ideas. Where should I start my quest? Books, websites? Anyone have some suggestions please? How long will this journey take?

@AmigaDave
It's great you got your A1-X1000 and it still works after the shipping nightmare. We work hard to make Amiga.org a nice website to visit. At the end of the day the site is what the members make it. Of course other great Amiga forum sites exist as well. This site is one of them. Personally we believe in Amiga OS 4.x and post news items about it on A.org all the time. We also own OS 4.x machines. Equal time is also offered to Classic Amiga, MorphOS & AROS. It's best to get along in our small community since sales have not been in the millions for some time. Brands have ups and downs, hopefully the Amiga brand will have a large upswing in the future.

Sorry Aladdin 4D 6.0 is taking so long. It's a complicated product to update and multi platform. We prefer Amiga type OSes most of all but 3D animation software is such a niche it must be multi platform to survive. Even Calagari trueSpace died because it was only on Windows. And that had Microsoft's resources behind it.
Of course OS4Depot has some great programs from some very talented developers. Amiga scene has always had great creative coders.
