Re: Company<->User communication...Is it still a thing today?

@amigakit

Thank you for honest and quick response.

I understand making living out from Amiga business might be almost impossible. But if you feel like you have enough time to do everything - then why, for example, AmiStore and its content is not updated at all lately?

Is there something new coming that you'll announce shortly or do you just leave it dying...

And yes - ofcourse I have Updater installed - I tried it yesterday without any updates available, maybe I'll give it a go today

@Templario

I wouldn't mind even paying for updates, but unfortanely there are none (or sorry - there might be some MUI updates, but what we need is updates for OS and OS4 software and as an example components that enable working and relatively modern browser).

Maybe during this weekend I'll have time to check my old MorphOS installation on my G5, for some reason it doesn't feel like Amiga (for me that is), but maybe it's time to check it again...

I wonder why people responsible try to do everything - bring up new stuff for Classic Amiga's and also announce for example Enhancer 68k - when all the work should be concentrated to other tasks. I mean - what an earth you're thinking about when announcing 'new scart cables' for Classic Amigas (this weeks' news). If OS4 and NG is not something that you believe in - do you really expect us to carry on...

And sorry this might sound harsh, but *trust me* I've really enjoyed my x5000 so far, I've waited and waited to get updates and something new, but when I now open the OS4.1 - the first thing to start is irc, the very same software that works on my old A4000 and A2000 too. I cannot go and check Facebook or Youtube, I cannot check gmail or cannot use modern office tools...

I really believed that we'll get for example OpenOffice, but since we haven't got anything else ...

@amigakit

Thanks for reply, as K-L said - it's not only Hyperion but also people need updates from A-EON...

As an example - AmiStore, is it true that there's absolutely no developers left to offer any commercial software via it? (actually I know the answer, but I want to still make this question public)

Also I miss updates for AmiStore software, I've received some bug fixes directly from developers due the fact that updates are almost impossible to get to AmiStore.

And don't get it wrong - it's better to have questions asked compared to complete silence.. at least the user base seems active :)

@samo79

That's exactly the case - only major difference that I could see is the cheaper (and modern) hardware, but wouldn't that already have happened for AROS?

I surely hope they could settle the OS ownerships and then hire experienced persons to do the job. Will that happen in near future, probably not...

Just my own thoughts:
- Communication is important, but what I would love to see is things happening... some might argue and say that there's lots of things done, ok -> how about releasing those updates/patches?

- For me AmigaOS has always been the 'home' - MorphOS comes close, but somehow it feels something between AmigaOS and Linux but what's good on that OS is that *they do releases* and updates are coming regularly.

Updates and releases don't have to be huge - 'major rewrites' - small updates are more than welcome, just "keep ball rolling"...

@kas1e

Yes, that's unfortunately the case, we should have one 'Piru' in OS4 team too to get things done... he did amazing job for MorphOS development to enable Wayfarer.

@Paul

I got similar issues when running the version they have at AmiStore, Andy was kind enough to fix the issues and send me the sync patches - so it has been running since then...

I believe AmiStore version is not updated at all - shame that 'app store' kind of misses the point when there's no updates available...

@trixie

Thanks, I'll then forget it and try again setup my CubicIDE environment. There were some issues with SDK when I bought the CubicIDE back in 2017 and didn't have time/interest enough to work it out...

I used StormC 3 and 4 quite a lot with my 68k Amigas, I just realized that there's StormC 5 available for OS4.

Anyone here using it?

Big *thank you* for everyone involved, with latest beta (beta4) I dared to try Microsoft Office page (office.com that is) and when I use 'spoof as Edge 80' I can login and use Outlook!

Word wasn't working (lacking the toolbars etc.), but accessing work-mail from Amiga is already a *BIG* step... THANKS!

@kas1e

No, it doesn't work well when trying to configure via game itself, I was happy with default settings :)

With some luck I can configure one or two directions, but usually not... so either super fast or just wait second and if you're in luck you manage to give right input in time.

@kas1e

On the back of the controller you should have X and D selectable by switch, I believe we need to set it to D for DirectInput.

I had also issue for configuring two controllers - AmigaInput always crashed, but Daniel suggested to just configure one and renaming the setting for other controller and yes it did work :)

Not sure if sending the prefs for my F310 could get your controller to work?

@kas1e

Thanks for adding controller support, my Logitech F310 works fine here... framerate though drops when lots of things ongoing on screen (like couple of bowling balls rolling).

My setup x5000 + R9 280x, I'm so happy to have SuperTuxKart and H-Craft now, I can finally give Voxel Bird a rest ;)

Same here with my x5000, when ignoring DSI errors, I can use the AmiUpdate, but unfortunately didn't find anything to update...

@jPV "Same with my other program, which I'd also like to get to the store"

As being betatesting this "other program", I have to say it's really good and worth to try when available!

AMIStore seems as good idea, but without new software and active administrator surely will suffer slow death... :(

Nice that this forum exists - seems that all questinos that I have are somehow covered

@densho

So ultrawide monitor works perfectly under OS4? I was thinking of buying one, but didn't find enough information.

The graphics card that I have on my x5000 is Radeon R9 280x, and max resolution should be enough - but wasn't sure if it'll work under x5000 and OS4.1FE.

@saimo

Oh, Oulu - how that I missed that :)

I was so excited to try to game after reading the whole story and noticed that you're the author of one other game that I own (https://www.dropbox.com/s/hndu1eyi8g0ku0o/20190728_222730.jpg?dl=0 ).

As the others suggest - if you're going commercial, why not try AMIStore - it surely needs some fresh quality software.
