@levellord

Just tried it with cheap and generic, passive USB hub and the problem persists.

Hub is this type and very old. I don't currently have an alternative hub to try.

X1000 here. It works fine in the firmware but there is a problem with the OS. On boot up the keyboard doesn't respond although it shows up as a gaming keyboard in USB Inspector but next to Driver it says bootkeyboard instead of hid.usbfd. When you unplug it and plug it back in shows hid.usbfd for the driver. It won't survive a warm reboot.

So there seems to be a problem initialising the driver on boot.

Just received mine today. I haven't plugged it in yet but looks fantastic with it's white and grey keys.

@TheMagicSN

Looking at the files in the source suggest that Andrew Yelland wrote his own 3D API and drivers the popular cards of the time. I can't find the requiresment for the Windows version but DOS version only states that a VESA graphics card is required so there may be software rendering mode. The DOS version also has an ATI Rage version that seems to be using GL. There's some driver code belonging to ATI included in the source dump which releates to that.

There's also some assembler code in there for some of the more computationally heavy tasks. The DOS version only required a 486 DX2 @66Mhz.

This is all written from the perspective someone with little programming background beyond basic for various z80 based micros decades ago.

@samo79

Wipeout and Wipout 2097 are two different ganes and even if the Amiga source for 2097 still exists but it can't just be released to the community due to Sony owning the IP. The best we could hope for is that Blittersoft/VP still have rights to publish the WarpOS version of 2097. Maybe Paul Lesurf can clear things up if he sees my message on Facebook.

A port of Wipeout itself is off limits due to legality of the only source code available so it's just an interesing discussion.

Now we have RadeonHD/RadeonRX, independent if x1000 or A1/Peg/Sam (I assume they can use them too, right ?). This should make a difference.

Pegasos II cannot see anything the other side of PCI-PCIe bus but Sam440 abd recently A1 XE have been proven to work with Southern Islands cards. Sailor's tests on A1 showed that some ops are slower compared to the AGP Radeon 9000 due to the PCIe cards only working in a 33Mhz slot but when you run Warp3D Nova code it really shines.

As I understand in post #42 Wipeout code is now opensourced.

Wipout is the prequel to Wipout 2097 which was ported to Amiga. If it's possible a port would be welcome.

o remind you, Wipeout 2097 in this original WarpOS version works on OS 4 with the Novabridge and ReWarp libraries.

I managed to track down Paul Lesurf on Facebook and asked if VP still have the rights to publish 2097 for Amiga. It would be great if people could buy it again and if they still have source code it could be a bonus. Hopefully he'll reply, even if it's bad news.

As to Wipeout being opensource i am not sure if this twitterpost leads to an authentic opensource release or a leaked source.

It says it's not official in the thread.

Also if it is psx source code building an Amiga port from it might be not trivial.

The post says the Windows version is also included but it's not worth looking at when you could end up in Son'y cross hairs.

@TheMagicSN

Wipeout 2097 was published by Blittersoft with Digital Images being the development team. I'm not sure which party got the license from Psygnosis and whether or not Blittersoft, who are now Virtual Programming, still have the publishing rights. Paul Lesurf is still involved with VP who were also involved the the Mac port of Wipeout 2097 so if you can get hold of him you might find some answers.

I guess Ben is the person to talk to about SIN and potentially other games Hyperion got licenses for.

I guess I'm nitpicking here but she is Indian and these call centres are all Indian based.

@levellord

What if the time and money spent on Libre Office had gone into Cinammon and Ignition instead? In the early days of OS4 we were told Linux ports were to get more software on Amiga in a shorter timeframe because native stuff took longer to write. It's already been 6 years and still no Libre while native software that already exsisted was overlooked.

I think it was announced that it would be available ahead of System54, not that it was immediately available.

Re: [A1222] Catweasel 4 PCI + Radeon graphics card: Possible combo?

@FirstNinja

In theory Catweasel MK2 should work if you use a SATA to IDE adapter and the IDE kit Amigakit sell for the X1000.

The main difficulty with the Catweasel is probably finding one for sale.

If you need to transfer software from floppy to NG hardware the easiest way is to turn it into ADF and write to some other media such as CD or USB stick but I understand that may not be possible depending whether or not you have classic hardware and how expanded it is.

I recall that 500 boards were made but I don't know if that included the 5040 models. Apperently you can only get the 5040 model from dealers now. So if the 5040's came in a separate run 500+ have been sold and if not it's probably somewere between 400 and 500.

It's probably easier to find an ITX case that takes a full size video card than it is to find one that has a bay for an optical drive these days.

Seek & Destroy is very similar to to Transplant but set in a Desert instead of space. It best compares to games like Desert Strike and Operation Gunship. There is also a co-op mode where one player controls the helicopter and the other the weapon systems. Maybe inspiration for future games based on the Super Star Blast engine.

No output from my RX580. I'll test it in my PC when I get a chance. The PC has an RX560 installed at the moment so I can test that out in the X1000 while I'm at it.

I will have to give this a try. I've ordered an RX580 4GB model for £105. It's used but CEX (Amiga Addict sponsor) give you a 2 year warranty.
