@Rudei

Yes. It is the better of the two, faster and with a DVDrw drive. The machine dualboots OS X and Vista Business.

@Hitman

Pop along, I'm sure someone can help you in some way. If not, at least you can have a cup of tea and slice of Andy's nice cake.

@all

Thanks everyone.

I don't plan to boot from the drive as my Fastlane is much quicker, but will use it to store backups.

80GB IDE disk in an A4000

Assuming I keep the initial partition below 4Gb, is there any reason why an 80GB hard disk will not work on an A4000's internal IDE port with OS 3.9?

I'm not looking forward to slow format times.....

@Severin
I have a simple AREXX script for making backups via Dopus.

@Rigo

Thanks Rigo.

What causes the checksum errors? It is quite likely the first time the drive has been written to in years so could it indicate other problems? Failed SCSI terminator or bad sectors on the drive?

If I have the error: "files has a checksum error on block xxxxx", can I simply backup the drive, format it, and copy the contents back again or is the hard disk failing and needing to be replaced?

Does anyone have a copy of the PC side of Siamese 2.5?(I think that was the last version)

I have the Amiga side still, but have long since lost the original disks and the PC I originally copied it to.

I would be most grateful if someone could send me a zip of the PC disk.

Thanks,

Steve

@Billsey

Which Amiga related patents do Gateway still hold? I wonder what Acer will do with them?

@Atheist

Two of the brands listed were related to Commodore in some way:

ICL were the people who came out to fix the A3000s and A4000s under warranty.

Digital were the prefered Amiga HD suppliers.
