That is true but it still won't fix anything. I am very, very well aware of the problems.

No, Unicode will not magically fix anything.

@Amigo1
No, Unicode does not magically fix anything. There are multiple ways to encode characters and Unicode is just another one in a long list starting somewhere near EBCDIC.

@AmigaBlitter
Well, OpenGL is only a specification so there is no update there.

We generally announce things via the development blog.

That is a load of B.S. I was working on Timberwolf before Christmas and have been distracted since. Simple as that.

Beta testers should be using bugzilla and the closed beta testing forum to discuss such matters.

I would like to try and help coordinate things on the OpenAmiga site with what the OS team is doing.

Let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do.

P.S. Email is still the best way to contact me. I do keep an eye on the support forum and amigans.net but I don't generally read much else.

Note Almos is also an AmigaOS core developer and is subscribed to the internal beta testing mailing list.

I don't think it's a good idea to only focus on things that Hyperion comes up with or what they perceive as important. People must be allowed to come up with ideas that no one at hyperion has dreamed of.

I agree. 3rd party developers should never be limited.

I'd like to point out that Hyperion is the owner of the operating system. It is the AmigaOS development team that decides where the operating is going. Perhaps the AmigaOS Development Team Lead would be the person to contact in regards to prioritization and what not...

First the trap handler tries to handle the issue (it dumps some stuff out the serial port). Then the Reaper, built into the kernel, is activated (dumping stuff out the serial port). Then the Reaper will try to launch GrimReaper.

Here is a totally awesome tutorial (I'm slightly biased):

Once you have a crash report, you'll find this useful:

I am more concerned about what Steven claims is HIS PRIVATE FUNDING of FUSE port or similar. I bet MorphOS will beat him.

I really don't know what this sentence is supposed to mean (and neither did Google translate) but I do want to make something clear.

I obtained permission directly from the author (Leif Salomonsson) to work on filesysbox.library ages ago. In fact, at one point I was looking into hiring Leif to work on the AmigaOS port himself. However, Leif is a very busy guy and doesn't have an AmigaOS system. I was lucky to have Fredrik come along at the right time to pick up the project.

@all
We are just working on the last piece of the puzzle to get FUSE, NTFS, Ext2FS, etc. released. It will all be distributed via AmiUpdate and I'll blog about it when the time is right. There are a few dependencies on OS components which have been blocking the release.

So far, we have had 0.5% of the users complain about the Linux sections on the support forum.

I'm open to suggestions especially from our Linux brethren.

Once all those problems are fixed, then OF COURSE RunInUAE will be updated (via AmiUpdate) with a version of E-UAE that supports JIT. Doing so before then would be putting the cart before the horse IMHO.

I agree 100%. Those that want to play with alpha/beta JIT support and all the other combinations are welcome to of course.

@all
We will also probably want to update the 68k Amiga Workbench install which is included with the ROMs. An update to the included WHDLoad will also be needed. There is always more work to be done.

The good news is all you have to do is sit back and wait for everything to be delivered via AmiUpdate once it is all tested if you want to avoid the hassle.

You should implement the new, much cleaner vector port FS API and pass the legacy packets through the packet emulator...

I agree. Using that old DOS packet stuff is just asking for headaches.

I think there is still stuff missing from the SDK so I may need a boot to get an update out for you guys.

Hyperion's server is offline. There is no estimated up time.

There appears to be some hardware issue which is being worked on.

the openssh port is a bit flawed too.. it looks for /home/ and stuff which normally don't exist under aos4 resulting in annoying requesters.

That is a feature and not a flaw. I did the OpenSSH port and I decided to use a HOME: assignment so that your private keys are not put someplace you don't expect. I consider security more important than convenience in this case.
