@kas1e It just recently (read: a few hours) dawned on me that i might have used the whole gl4es target wrong, or better yet, not at all. I was under the impression, since ScummVM implemented a new way to distinguish between GL targets, that this was enough...i might have been wrong all along. I thought that the changes in ScummVM would suffice to pick up gl4es library, if available, and do all it's magic itself from there...probably, or obviously not(?) Seems i stil need to compile with the gl4es patched sdl2 library to really make it use gl4es... if that should be the case (compiling a test version as we speak) then it was a huge misunderstanding on my part I'll get back when i got something to show

@afxgroup
whete can i find that patched version, newlib style, and was it enough to simply compile it with that sdl?
i remember having massive problems with it, thats why it was instead "built in"...
but maybe im mixing things up and *need* to use the patched version to really gain the speed of gl4es???

@afxgroup
ok then,scummvm uses ogles2...or minigl, but minigl is mostly locked out because its too old and limited
so you need, i think, the enhancer driver and stuff to make use of it

@afxgroup regaring OpenGL...of course not with the WME games (they are 2D), WME3D isn' t ready yet and even then OpenGL would only work for 3D games For OpenGL you need either Grim Fandango, The Longest Journey or other 3D games Primordia is as slow gameplay-wise, the intro is snappier though Bickadoodle i am jealous of It runs 30-35 fps locked and i get the same crash

@afxgroup Here you go not big in size https://aethericgames.itch.io/bickadoodleturn on fps, so that we are on the same level of testing 7 fps - game start 23 fps - riding the horse 33 fps - inside the woods pretty jumpy that fps counter

@Maijestro i dont know if all the shader changes for TLJ made it into 2.8.0, but it runs fine here, so at least it should in 2.8.1 @afxgroup anyway, most of the wintermute games feature an fps display, so you can try some of those too oh and, crazy idea, you can help fix the amigaos specific bugs im having

@afxgroup any of the AGS games - Primordia f.e., it's down to 4 FPS in game mode (better fps in menu and intro)...might be the rain other than that, none of the other games are that demanding, normally they should run just fine.

nice
did you need to change anything to make it work, in configure or any of the source files?

@MartinW
Global Options -> Graphics
Graphics Mode -> OpenGL
Game 3D Renderer -> OpenGL with shaders
if those settings dosn't help then the game is just too demanding

@MartinW
there is a bugfix release coming up, hopefully with recent amigaos4 fixes.
that could/should speed things up a little too, no promises though
scummvm runs internally on its own ogles2 code...if the gfx driver can(will?) speed these things up we'll also gain something
my card runs on its lowest speed setting (not entirely supported by the gfx driver) and while it is slow, its at least playable

@MartinW
you got yourself one of the biggest games in the ags engine 😀
all ags games tend to be slow, yes
we can hope that the engine gets optimized over time, but 60 fps will probably lie in a distant future, never say never
you can try to set "opengl" in global settings for bpth renderer and game renderer. graphics tab, top and bottom fields
that should speed things up
btw, which version of scummvm are you using?

@rjd324 1. Yes, 2.32.2 is what i'm using. I only mentioned 2.40 because i have it installed in another SDK dir, but not using it 2. I guess so version full elf.library elf.library 54.1 (07.12.2023) 3. Surely, as i said, it worked fine before, but since i installed SDL2.31, which was reverted to 2.30.1 everything is f*cked 4. The file is too big to quote here, you can download it from https://gofile.me/7hB4K/aX7Wwl2aYI'm not blaming SDL2, it seems to work for others, but...i'm out of ideas, might as well, set this thing up anew Thank you for taking a look

@Raziel
Hmm, i wonder...since i never had libsdl2_net.so compiled in...do i have the correct libsdl2-2.0.so?
could that cause this error? trying to access something in the library which isn't there, due to anincorrect version?
