Theres nothing wrong with either amirc, or wookie. I just like to see more choice xchat is a bit more modern, I just wish I knew how to port stuff over lol.

I know we have wookiechat, amirc, but unfortantly the developers have long given up on their clients. How hard would it be to port over xchat? That would make my miggy complete if it was possible. Considering we have timberwolf now, surely xchat wouldnt be too hard to port over?

I bring you good news, and some bad news. The bad news first.

After manyer hours trying to get the spahire 6570 to work with os4, It just wasn't playing ball.Yes, I had the latest ati drivers from aeon, yes i did every combination possible to get the ruddy thing working still no joy.

I'm sure it's something so simple i've missed, but, after nearly two days trying to get the thing to ruddy work, I have all but given up on it for now with this perticular card untill I visit amiga north thames group in near the future to see if they can help me to get it working.


Now for the good news:

Success!!

I have a fully functioning sam460ex with 2d accerlation enabled using the latest aeon drivers using an ati card 5570. Its silent, and works like a charm with full hdmi output too. I am extreemly happy with this setup, everything is now working. I followed hans suggestions use the 4x card to get updated then install ati drivers and hey presto 5570 booted into workbench = a very happy ending


I am firm believer in the old saying "If it aint broke, dont try and fix it" in this case, it fits just right.

Thank you for the reply's. I'm going to try the dvi adapter route when I get home from work today. Also will post uboot envrs as well fingers crossed:)

Update: I got it working with a different ati card 5570 but not the HD 6570 :( The 6570 just goes into a black screen.

Well I can confirm, that the Sapphire Radeon HD6570 Ultimate doesnt want to work on my machine. I have tried everything and I mean everything and nothing will work with it. Only my original 4650 card works. I'm out of ideas.

@Fingus I just brought the exact same card, tried it today and still no luck ! It wont go past update 6 and ive even tried booting os4.1 cd into setup it hangs at launching kickstart Really not happy now! :(

Nope keep that noisey thing out of my room! My pc's are slient deadly silent with just a meer cat's purr in the background ;)

Right the graphics card I have is ati 4650. It works fine! But, I would prefer to use the onboard graphics on my sam460 but I just cant get it to boot past launching kickstart after update5. It works on update4, but will only work with my current graphics card. So either update 5 and beyond is for graphics cards only and wonnt support the onboard, or ive done something wrong:/ It does this even on a fresh update install with out the offical drivers from aeon.

Anybody know the answer to this: Why wont the sam460 boot up past update 5 using the onboard ati graphics instead of using the graphics card? It works with update 4, but hangs after boot up. Yet, if i plug the graphics card back in again it will work right up to 6. Any ideas?

Reason being is i actually would prefer to use the onboard as the current ati graphics card is noisey as hell!:(
