@trixie
Indeed. I got so annoyed I even abandoned PGS4 and went back to a very old copy of ProPage.

@terminills

I'd be happy to buy a working* OS4 compile straight away in order to show support - especially if a few updates were included.

let me know if you need any more info about Recursion.

I need to start putting a floor plan together soon, so an idea of how many folk are coming/how much table space is needed would be cool.

There will be plenty of space at Recursion for Amigans - I guarantee that!

If enough people (say a dozen+) wanted to have an Amiga only meet on the Friday evening (3 July) I could arrange a space for that in the school. There are a few cheapish hotels in Stratford (eg Premier Inn) and plenty to do for the weekend if the "other halves" wanted to come along too.

Hi Chris. I've just started to get the Recursion 2015 website updated. I'd be very happy to add a link to ANT, if the group are still willing to come across on the 4 July to help celebrate 30 years of the Amiga.

@yoodoo2

MindSpace 2 v0.02

Another little work-in-progress update to MindSpace 2 (vector drawing thingy - full version of original MindSpace here).

This WIP version is still a long way from complete and useable, but please feel free to have a play, make comments and suggestions etc..

Read the readme to see requirements, what is done and what is not...

You would be very, very welcome to join us at Recursion 2015, on Saturday 4 July in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Central location, plenty of space, retro stuff galore, and absolutely free for all exhibitors and visitors. This year's speaker was Smon Goodwin.

Another preview release of MindSpace 2 can be downloaded here. Again, it's not a fully featured version, yet, but please feel free to play around with the interface and report any bugs, suggested improvements, features etc.

Resized Image
Resized Image

From the readme:
MindSpace 2 Version 0.01d : 16/8/2014
---------------------------------------------------

Requirements: OS4.1. In addition, libpng.so, libcairo.so and libfreetype.so.17 needs to be in SOBJS:

MindSpace 2 is a complete rewrite of the original MindSpace UML/Diagram/Vector Drawing thingy written for Amiga OS4.
The long term plan is to improve, refine and extend the features of the original program.

Version 0.01d allows the user to create multiple diagrams with multiple pages.
Multiple windows/views of each diagram can be opened, at different magnifications and viewing different pages.
Opening multiple windows uses a lot of graphics memory - SAM440 users may want to limit the number of windows in use or switch off compositing

At the moment, only the rectangle tool can be used to draw objects on the page (resize handles not yet added).
Objects can be raised/lowered, moved and resized using the toolbar.

Rendering uses Cairo, but is quite slow at the moment.
There is as of yet no hardware acceleration or optimisation eg the whole bitmap is redrawn, not just damaged areas.

Minor update to version 1.3 released to re-introduce Anti-Aliasing drawing, this time using Cairo.

Recursion Computer Fair Show Reports
Just popping in
Just popping in

Many thanks to everyone who popped down/up/over to Recursion on Saturday.

It was particularly good talking to Simon Goodwin, our guest speaker. Fascinating stuff.

Special thanks to Nick, Nigel, Andy and Paul for bringing Amiga/MorphOS/AROS machines to show off and play with - it was good to meet you all. Sorry I couldn't spend more time with you - it was a bit frantic at times sorting out the rest of the show.

Nigel has posted a nice report here and I'll upload a couple of my better images on the Recursion Website later today.

Special mention must go to Niels Bache who came across from Denmark, demonstrating a pretty impressive dedication to Amiga! Niels, I hope you and your wife enjoyed Stratford - sorry I couldn't get you into Shakespeare's classroom; he caretaker was pretty grumpy that we overran our clear-up time!

Hope to see you all (and more!) next year...

GA_HintInfo and WA_ToolBox
Just popping in
Just popping in

My app (MindSpace 2) has 3 or more windows: a couple of toolbars and one or more "drawing" windows. All of the windows share a HelpGroup and I successfully receive the correct WMHI_GADGETHELP events from all gadgets in all windows, irrespective of which window is currently active.

However, the actual pop-up hintinfo only appears if the relevant window is active. This means I can't set WA_ToolBox to TRUE for the toolbars, which I'd quite like to do to keep focus on the current drawing window.

1. Is there a way to force the pop-up hintinfo to appear?

2. Is it possible to change the font/colourscheme etc of the hintinfo? Is this a user-setting in WB?

Ta.

Re: How to resize windows from any border?

Not without the author's permssion - it was a contribution on the pre-release CD.

Not sure why it's not a default option in the OS anyway, as all-borders resizing can be activitated with a hot-key combo. I just think I'm missing a setting somewhere...

@Severin

Couldn't find it on the OS4.1 CDs for SAM, A1 or OS4.0 for Classic.
However, eventually tracked down my original pre-release CD for my A1-SE. Now installed, so I'm a happy bunny.

How to resize windows from any border?

Back in OS4.0 there was a contrib commodity that allowed you to resize windows from any border, not just the resize gadget.

Now, if I press CTRL+ALT, I can do the same.

Is there a setting hidden somewhere that lets me do this without using the keyboard or do I need to dig out the old OS4 CD to reinstall that old commodity?

Hi Neil,

I'm very keen to get wireless up and running on my SAMep, but it's in a tiny case so would need a low profile card (or preferably a USB dongle). Any ideas on which one to get? I'm happy to splash out on a couple of different ones to try out and pay for a working driver.
