Yeah, only 2 weeks to go now, and still so much stuff to take care of before I leave, sigh...

I know DvPlayer can play WMV, what is your point/question?

@interrogative

Good question. I'm in the middle of moving internationally and it looks like I won't be able to do any serious Amiga development for the next month or so. I've done quite a bit of work on DvPlayer during the summer but quite a bit of work is still left to do until a release.

Re: int pointers Vs float pointers ...

@freddix

In C programming, float is always 32-bit and double is always 64-bit, regardless of what architecture you're coding on.

You have to be careful with pointers. Since both int and float have the same data size (32 bits) the processor has the same alignment restrictions, which means you can write float data into an int and vice versa (not sure why you want to do that though).

I'm getting a lot of disconnections with 0.53, it disconnects like several times a minute. With 0.51 I only had it disconnect straight after startup, and after that it remained connected mostly.

Well, after having used Blender on the PC, I can say that it's definitely not a replacement for Lightwave. It's really difficult to get it to do even simple things, I can't imagine doing serious projects with it. It has a very steep learning curve.

On the other hand, I'm sure Newtek would not make any considerable amount of money selling Lightwave for next-gen Amiga platforms. However I don't see why it would be so difficult for them to at least release the last 68k Amiga version for free if there is some interest in it still. People can't buy it anymore, so unless you already bought it ages ago, the only thing one could do if they wanted to use Lightwaven on a current-gen Amiga is to get a pirated copy from somewhere.

Perhaps a petition could be made, with people signing it, and then an email be sent to NewTek, asking them to release the last Amiga version of Lightwave for free.

Holy cow, gmail actually works with this one! It's the nicest surprise in this version, all previous versions of OWB here only worked with gmail in html mode. Great stuff

@jahc

Nice, looking forward to try it.

There is a strange problem I've been having with SabreMSN ever since tabs were introduced. Sometimes when I leave it for a while in the background and go back to type something to a user, I can type one thing and press Enter, but for the next message after it it no longer submits what I type when I press enter, even though the user in question is still online. If I close that particular chat tab (only that user) and re-open it, then I can submit messages to that person again. So it's as if some flag is set for some reason which makes SabreMSN think that it's not possible to send messages to that user? What could cause this? Did anyone else see this problem occur?

Re: OWB 3.15

@kas1e

OWB is just a html rendering engine, it's not a web browser itself, so things like download manager is outside the scope of the core part of OWB. The OS4 OWB "port" is not actually just a port, it is actually a web browser built from scratch, which uses OWB for the html rendering. A download manager already exists in the MorphOS port, but that doesn't automatically give a download manager to the OS4 port.

Wow, the way search is implemented is really cool, impressive :)

Only one issue found so far, when I clicked Reply to start writing this message, I couldn't see the cursor, but looking closer it's there, just that when it's in the beginning of the line, it's actually inside this blue frame area, making it difficult to notice. I guess there should be a few pixels wide margin around the text as even the letters appear to flow into the edge of the text area.

By the way speed is really snappy, the same page is loaded in a noticably shorter time than with Firefox 3 on our brand new Core2 Duo laptop connected to the same network.

Yes, that's what he means, unless you're in the embedded market and want boards for some embedded project in which case you'd get it direct from ACube and not from Amiga dealers.

Re: OWB 3.12
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

OWB 3.12 works very fast here, in fact this version it noticably faster in general browsing than the previous versions, which is surprising as it was damn fast already.

I did find a couple of issues with google maps:

1. I noticed that its speed is slower than it used to be. With OWB 3.11 the speed of google maps is extremely slow and something was definitely screwed up there, and with 3.12 it's much faster, but it is still noticably slower than with 3.8 that I still have here. E.g. when I scroll around in a map, there are some pretty long delays in the scroll. This does not happen with 3.8 and the map is updated more frequently when scrolling.

2. When I start typing an address in google maps, a dropdown window should appear which lets me select from a number of addresses. With OWB 2.18 this does work, but it doesn't work with any of the OWB 3.x versions that I have here, I tried 3.7, 3.8, 3.11, 3.12...

OWB 3.11 is really nice and smooth, and I haven't had any crashes so far. Nice work Joerg !!! Typing in text fields is really fast now and is not eating up memory either, well done! May I ask what caused the problem?

Re: OWB 3.10
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

OK, typing this in OWB 3.10 now on a Sam440, so far so good, although it's a bit slow to type in text. I had 292MB free on my Sam as I started typing this (the system has 512MB of total RAM), and right now there's only 273 MB free. But it doesn't seem to be related to the amount of text, if I type in something and delete it afterwards, it doesn't give me all the memory back that I had before I started typing it, in fact deleting text seems to further reduce memory, so there's definitely something fishy with the text input part of OWB. And now it's down to 262 MB.

EDIT: After submitting the above post I just let it reload the page and then memory started to decrease very rapidly, by about 3MB every 5 seconds, even though there was nothing moving on the page, no animation, and there's also no text field. So the leak may not be text input-specific after all...

EDIT2: Even stranger, after the second text I submitted immediately above, this rapid memory decrease was not happening.
