Backup question

The problem: I have a 200GB DOS\07 volume I want to backup to an SMB shared FAT32 volume. The solution : Lha to shared volume (file flags & comments preserved to a strange FS).
Unsolvable issues : 1. How do you split the .lha to multiple volumes ( v2.15 seems problematic) ? 2. How do you exclude directories from om archive (e.g. Trashcan)? -W Exclude filenames seems also broken.

In case you need a single file containing the cumulative output data of previous execution/run , you may use: MyProgram >>T:Output.txt

@AmigaBlitter Great update, thank you! A tip : in order to get it working, you`ll need libpng v1.6.34 in sys:SObjs/ (Local/newlib/lib/libpng16.so.16.34.0) and a "Fuse Emulator/settings/.fuserc" file, to save the settings (touch or save a blank file to create it, then a save in emulator will overwrite the contents with actual data).

Does the numeric keypad work with Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade fight scenes (MSDOS VGA version)?
I`m running ScummVM 2.0.0 (20/12/2017), Kickstart 53.89, Workbench 53.15, on Sam440-Flex with DuckyOne KB (tried the NumLock on/off : has effect on AOS, indifferent to ScummVM).

@zzd10h
You were right, MickJT-MPlayer works fine. I thought that any other MPlayer version should work as it did beforehand and that it was an Emotion specific problem. The only thing announced was a certain YouTube issue that caused SMTube`s Emotion incompatibilities (other players not mentioned, except for MickJT-MPlayer)
So the connection and streamming is handled by the player, not SMTube, hence the https specific errors.
What about "Open audio with -> Downloadvideo.rexx" ? It won`t download an m4a file anymore. I have Download v1.5 (08/11/2017)

Since the update, it doesn`t work any more. No changes are made to any parameters after the update, the player is set to "MUI-mplayer/generic/mplayer".

@BSzili
Sorry, my bad. Due to the latest PPC compiles (v3.x) crashing, I was using the v2.3 binaries. Anyhow, I`m looking forward to testing the latest version on OS4.

@AmigaBlitter BSzili also tried to compile VICE in the past, you may find some info here. The most important thing is to avoid crashing when launched, but if you want to look into the joystick issue too, that would be great (time permitting, of course).

Slow NotePad launch

It takes a while to launch such a simple/small program.
This seems to be related to the "Prefs/Presets/tbimages" icons scan/load, which is even bigger now (8931 files now, vs 5461 on OS4.1.6).
Is there a way to speed it up? Not just FS change (I use the system default, DOS\07), which maybe a temporary solution, untill more filles are added. An alphabetical directory split, or icon categories directory, might be a solution for a future OS update?

@Cass I don't like leaving any loose ends, so here is the solution: I have a dual boot configuration OS4.1FEU1 and OS4.1.6, in that exact order. After the latest update, Kickstart/Kicklayout was modified by adding : Quote: ; Update 1 MODULE Kickstart/mounter.library
at the end of the file, thus leaving the OS4.1FE config without FS automounter. Strangely enough, massstorage.usbfd v53.37 seems not to be affected by the mounter.library module.

I tried WBExplorer too, just before the problem appeared! Now it seems resolved, after editing out one by one the strange entries with garbled characters (reset->delete just one entry->save->reset->delete next one , and so on).
The "CHARSETCONVERT: Zero length FROM file "ram:tmp.txt". C:Charsetconvert failed returncode 20" error message is attributed probably to strange behaviour of the running programs, forcing multiple or strange string entries to Notifications/Ringhio server. The baffling thing to me is that theses entries crashed the Prefs/Notifications when I tried to delete them (string lenght related crash?)

@m3x I got a similar error the other day, due to a strange ringhio.appsprefs.xml entry :

ΓΒ</name>
<description>Wet: Weather on Workbench</description>
<enabled>0</enabled>
<priority>0</priority>
</application>
The strange thing is that there were multiple copies of it (5-10). Trying to delete all the entries using Prefs/Notifications, it freezed on the second attempt, unable to delete further entries or save/exit the program. Starting Prefs/Notifications without SS, poped up DSI error. Increasing the stack size didn`t change a thing. SW: OS4.1FE.U1 {edit} a 1046 characters long string edit, to fit page layout. Maybe this is the culprit for the Notifications freeze/crash? {/edit}

Now that an updated Amissl version (v4.0) exists, would a recompile of the involved device binaries help the situation (there seem to be some https socket calls)?

@cygnusEd Quote: Which window manager do you use? Still Openbox?
Yes, it`s Openbox (no panel, no toolbar). Quote: Can you try to launch the panel by hand after startup by typing "lxpanel" into a shell? (stack min. 1000000). Does it also crash?
It`s like a random thing : now it crashed idesk, just bedore the launch of the wm! It`s surely curious and seems random DSI errors, that will not appear in older OS versions (never bothered me in 4.1.6). Anyhow, I managed to run lxpanel from shell with stack 1000000 and no crash. {edit} Too eager to post! It crashed on a second try, so no luck. Here is the shell output after the first try :

@cygnusEd
The crashes appear when I launch Start_AmiCygnix.bat. X11 has started, and just before the wm has drawn everything unrecoverable DSI errors pop up the one after the other (xdummy. idesk)
Latest observation : setting Panel to none, prevents the DSI errors.
